Tommy Barrett's Murder City (Milwaukee) has a little problem. Shouldn't be a surprise if you were paying attention to Mark Belling over the last year or so.
HG Sears is late on paying the 2019 property tax bill of $52,329, according to the city Treasurer's Office.
Kalan Haywood, Sr., whom Mark Belling identified as a 'connected one'.
Is $52 large a big problem? No, but:
...The Common Council and Mayor Tom Barrett in May 2019 approved a $4 million loan to help start the Ikon project.
HG Sears LLC, has so far spent $3.3 million of that loan, according to the Department of City Development....
That's not all.
...In September 2019, the council approved a second $5 million loan, with council members saying the potential benefits outweigh the risk. Haywood cannot use that loan until the project's other financing sources have been tapped. ...
Hmmmm. Some dude is making a 'destination' hotel in the inner core of Milwaukee, obtains twenty-five percent of the project costs from the City in loans, doesn't pay a prop-tax, and the website is 'down for maintenance' until January.
...He declined to say when the Ikon might open. The hotel was to be completed by the end of 2022.
"Everything's a moving target," Haywood said....
Then there's that rape accusation......
We can't blame the guy for the CovidDOOM!!! problem, of course. Even the Marcus family is having big problems with that.
Here's an idea: Simply subtract the loan amounts ($9 million or so) from the police budget!!! See!! It balances out!!!!
