There is a minor problem:

The company then subcontracted part of the work to Netcracker Technology, who used Russian services in order to lower costs.

West Point is a "full ride"--tuition, room, and board is paid by the US Government, 100%.
So if Gen. Westmoreland offered Carson an opportunity to get into West Point, Westmoreland was de facto offering him a "full ride scholarship."

Is "The Fix" to Kill Off Cruz In?
Interesting item here which (in brief) holds that the RNC "fixed" the primary process so that a movement Conservative such as Cruz cannot possibly win the nomination.
Even more interesting: the beneficiary of this skulduggery was to be Jeb Bush.
Upshot? To these essayists, the only way around "the fix" is to support The Donald--who will then pick Ted Cruz as his VP nominee. Well, that part is ....ahhhh....somewhat speculative, no?

So happens that a friend of mine who works in a retail store had an experience which fits that narrative to a "T". The "aggrieved" little wench lied about the incident, assigned the incident to "racism", gave herself "victim" status, threatened the retail store ('I'll never shop there again....') and of course, sent this pack of crap to the store's management.
To no avail, by the way. My friend's track record with the store and its customers is impeccable and the store prays that the SJW's threat to 'never shop there again' is a promise that will be kept.

Someone decided to peep at a teenaged girl sunbathing in her own, fenced, back yard. A modern-day Peeping Tom--with his drone--decided to take a long look.
Girl's daddy popped the drone with a load of birdshot. Peeping Tom bitched and the Daddy was cited.
The judge threw the case out of court. Daddy was well within his rights.

Boehner's Last Fraud
The 'budget' bill that Boehner, Obozo, and McConnell will ram up the ass of the taxpayers through Congress next week is another fraud, of course.
The spending increases will happen in the next 2 years. The spending DEcreases will happen in 2021 or later, if ever. And you can bet that everything after "happen" in the last sentence is already inoperative.
It also moves payroll tax (Soc Sec) revenues into the disability fund which will go broke next year unless this change happens. Of course, that will ensure that the SocSec fund will go broke faster. But who cares? No one in Boehner/McConnell/Obozo-land.
And yes, Paul Ryan will vote against this. That's the plan; the bill will pass regardless.

On Monday, the Court of Appeals for the Second U.S. Circuit issued a long awaited decision on the constitutionality of the most drastic gun control law in U.S. history, the New York SAFE Act of 2013. The Second Circuit ruled that nearly all of the law does not violate the Second Amendment.

The SAFE Act is a complete ban on the sale or transfer of all military-style semi-automatic rifles manufactured within the past several decades. It is a total ban on the AR-15, AK-47, M-14/M-1a, HK G3, Steyr AUG, and many other civilian copies of military firearms. ... the final version of the law allowed existing owners to keep their rifles as long as they registered them with the State. Upon the death of the owner, the rifle will be confiscated; it cannot be transferred to an heir within New York State.
The SAFE Act also enacted a complete ban on the possession of all firearm magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. The law contains no "grandfather" provision for previously legal items.
Beyond that, the SAFE Act banned all private transfers of firearms, except among spouses, parents, and children; it created an ammunition purchase background check and ammunition purchase registry; it banned the private sale of ammunition except from a licensed dealer; and it created a secret reporting requirement under which "mental health professionals" must report anyone suspected of being a "danger" to the State Police for mandatory gun confiscation.
This will get to SCOTUS, of course; and Cuomo expects to win there, too; he's gambling that Kennedy will create another 'live your dream' interpretation favoring the law. And then, any (D)-governed State will have the license to do exactly the same thing.

Shoving the Overton Window Leftward: The Progressives and The Donald
Mirengoff has part of it. The part he's not addressing is very important: religion.
The rise of The Donald happens to be another result of the Left/Progressive anti-religion Long March, which is why it is not likely that The Donald will be elected, or even nominated.
...Some conservatives perceive that the left is bent on radically transforming American values, institutions, and ways of living, and will use almost any tactic, regardless of its legality, to accomplish the transformation.
Yup. That's been ongoing since--at the very least--the LBJ regime, although some would, with justification, trace it back to the Progressive bunch of the early 1900's. I think that while the Progressives gained more than a foothold at that time, the rotten fruit didn't show up until the '60's. To me, the (D) Convention of 1968 serves as the most visible landmark of the great divide. It resulted, eventually, in Ron Reagan, who was elected by disaffected old-school Democrats.
In fact, the Progressives were always fundamentally anti-religious, specifically, "anti-" the Judaeo-Christian foundation of the West. Incidentally, they wound up in opposition to every other major religion's tenets, but for different reasons. They were able to overcome religion through spending (now near unto totally dissipating) the wealth of the West and through playing to hedonism.
The short-hand for that is "sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll," and the current most visible manifestations are Obama, Hillary, and The Donald.
We don't have to spend too much time with the whys-and-wherefores of Obozo and HRC's inclusion in the bunch, but The Donald deserves a bit of analysis.
The Donald, when you come right down to it, is another in a long line of slightly rightist Progressives (Think GWB, e.g.). The clues are not subtle. His entire opening gambit was "I'm rich!!! I'm RICH!!!!" He suddenly became pro-life, and suddenly became 'religious' (or at least, he spent some time with Protestant preachers.) His disdain for property rights is clear. In general, he's the "rock'n'roll" guy with a strong dose of sex on the side. While it's not clear that he is as full-bore anti-religion as are Obozo and Hillary, he's certainly not guided by any deep-seated Judaeo-Christian values.
In the end, I think that support for The Donald will die off as the battle for The West increases in importance. Much as some won't like it, Ted Cruz is going to be the beneficiary here, for almost all the right reasons.

When You Lose Mother Jones...
Judith Faulkner's crony-"capitalist" Epic Systems has lost the support of Mother Jones.
...even left-wing Mother Jones magazine reports this week that “instead of ushering in a new age of secure and easily accessible medical files, Epic has helped create a fragmented system that leaves doctors unable to trade information across practices or hospitals. That hurts patients who can’t be assured that their records — drug allergies, test results, X-rays — will be available to the doctors who need to see them. This is especially important for patients with lengthy and complicated health histories.”...
There's a large and growing cottage industry in Madistan consisting of ex-Epic employees who get top consulting dollars to fix the problems Epic causes.
So there's that, I guess.

THE Takedown of "Social Justice"
While I have Feser's blog on my favorites list, I don't read him enough. Thus, Vox picked up this column in which Feser demolishes the Social Justice flapjaw and defends the (Catholic) cardinal virtues instead.

To some extent the content of the traditional virtues is even respected -- democratic citizens will approve of the courage they read about in military history or see portrayed in movies like Saving Private Ryan, will commend moderation where overindulgence might affect bodily health, and so forth.
But much more prominent than the cardinal virtues -- and to a large extent coloring the conception democratic man has of the content of the cardinal virtues -- are certain other character traits, such as open-mindedness, empathy, tolerance, and fairness. The list will be familiar, since the language of these “virtues” permeates contemporary pop culture and politics, and it can be said to constitute a kind of counterpoint to the traditional cardinal virtues. And in each case the counter-virtue entails a turn of just the sort one might expect given Plato’s analysis of democracy -- from the objective to the subjective, from a focus on the way things actually are to a focus on the way one believes or desires them to be....

I doubt that the "social justice" Catholic Bishops will suddenly realize that the Catholic cardinal virtues are what they should be preaching about. We've often mentioned that "social justice" is an artificial construct which is un-achievable, largely because "social justice" cannot be defined.

Screwing American STEM Graduates
As usual, the ObozoFeds finds a way to screw American STEM (science, math, engineering, technology) graduates at the behest of the Chamber of Commerce.

ObozoFeds will now classify foreigners who HAVE graduated as "students."
...in adjusting how the foreign students are categorized as employees, they get out of paying payroll taxes used to help fund programs like Social Security and Medicare.
Currently, the program urges companies to hire STEM students for a year. CIS said firms are paid up to $10,000 to participate. The new proposal, said CIS, is to add on another year and $2,000 in bonuses....
The Chamber will, of course, throw millions of dollars at (R) candidates who will perpetuate this screwing. That will make college loans into one massive pile of defaults and will also make American kids much, much less interested in obtaining an STEM degree.

It buys the premise of ObozoCare that Gummint is responsible for healthcare, and also buys the premise that Gummint can do it better. The first remains un-Constitutional on its face; the second....well....what about the $Multi-Bn. website??

UW-M Is Safe!! Please: No Guns!!
No, folks, I didn't write that. Jessica McBride did. Unfortunately, Ms. McBride assembles no worthwhile arguments for her position.
(Let's ignore the language of the Second Amendment, especially that part about "....SHALL NOT infringe..." and go to her own discussion of the case.)
If we're going to have the "guns on campus debate" – and due to warring pieces of legislation, we must – let's at least argue the issue using accurate information. And according to that information, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus, if it were a city – and it sort of is one, like Vatican City is within Rome – would be one of the safest around.
Comparing Vatican City to UW-M is to prejudice the concept a bit, no? But that's what propagandists do.

But Jessica now shows her real fear:

Since Jessica makes this point a couple of times, it's clear that she 1) thinks UWM students are a bunch of violence-prone thugs and 2) thinks that violence could play out in the classroom at any time. She knows her students better than anyone, I suppose, but that makes us wonder about the admissions policies at UWM, no?

rising crime around the UWM campus, Kremer [an author of the bill] said, than it was on mass
shootings in other states (not sure why that means we need guns on
campus in Eau Claire). In fairness, Kremer made it clear he was not only
talking about crime ON campus, but news accounts said he did say
gunless students would be "vulnerable targets" on campus too, and he
expressly discussed how the bill would allow them to have guns in dorms.
He's also talking about the dangers students face when they
walk TO campus "disarmed" through close neighborhoods. Legally, they
can walk to campus armed now if they obtain a concealed carry permit,
but they can't carry the weapon into a campus building. Thus, he's
arguing that they'd have nowhere to put their guns once they reached the
campus boundaries, so it's essential to let them carry them inside.
Ms McBride has a real hodge-podge of silliness hare beginning with her reference to Eau Claire as a city and campus so pristine that even the driven snow looks dark in comparison. Where was Umpqua Community College again? Oh, yah, in Roseburg, OR., a town so small that crime-stats for the last 20 years fill one 8.5X11 sheet of paper.
But the neighborhood immediately west of UWM is not Roseburg, is it, Jessica? You want to make the case that 'only a little' violent crime is......well.......acceptable. (But not in YOUR classroom. We get it, Jessica.)
After Ms. McBride embeds a bunch of crime-report graphs in her article, she goes back to her principal fear: the students themselves!!

with concentrations of impulsive, sometimes immature, sometimes
intoxicated young people, some of whom have severe mental health issues.
Every instructor has had to deal with angry, mentally ill

student across from me with a gun. I'd be more worried about the
impulsive stuff (including suicide) than the planned out stuff....
Offhand, I'd counsel Jessica to find another job, right now. Apparently she's surrounded by violent nut-jobs who are also intoxicated and angry. Really. Just ask her!!
See, Jessica has another problem: she will not carry for her own self-defense. That's admirable or utterly foolish, y.m.m.v.. Jessica makes her own choice for her own reasons. Now she wants to impose her choice on all the other 25,000++ people on that campus.

Paul Ryan's Family: An "Idea"?
In the world of Paul Ryan, America is 'an idea.' Slightly more fastidious people would use the term 'country,' but the problem with 'countries' is that they have 'borders.' To Rep. Ryan, 'borders' are soooooo 20th-Century, ya'know.
Rep. Ryan seems to have an understanding of the term 'subsidiarity,' one of the principles on which this"idea" country was founded. For countries, subsidiarity requires "borders," without which such claptrap as 'laws and constitutions' are irrelevant.
But subsidiarity begins in other social arrangements. They are called "families." Families join other families to create towns, cities, counties, and States, and in the US, those States joined to create the country. Subsidiarity was reflected in the Bill of Rights, particularly the 9th and 10th Amendments. (It still is, if anyone actually cared about the BofR.)
The term 'subsidiarity' refers to a theory of governance whereby the smallest possible unit of gummint resolves a given problem. Tricky Dick McConnell
One expects no better from McConnell than an homage to Tricky Dick.

...Under the potential Senate Republican plan, Congress would merely retain the right to “disapprove” of the President’s action to lift the nation’s debt limit. But disapproving the action would require a hard-to-reach two-thirds vote of both chambers of Congress.
Political observers may recognize this move. It is similar to the Corker-Cardin legislation that allowed Obama to agree to the nuclear deal with Iran. The Corker legislation simply allowed Congress to disapprove the action, albeit with a vote threshold that was almost impossible to attain. It conveniently allowed the Iran deal to come into force while enabling Republicans to vote against the treaty in everything but name.
Adopting the Corker framework for the debt ceiling does two things important to Sen. McConnell. It would allow the nation’s debt ceiling to increase, empowering the Treasury Department to continue borrowing funds. It would also allow most Republicans to cast symbolic votes against lifting the debt ceiling. They could then campaign saying they were against raising the debt ceiling in the upcoming elections next Fall....
Soon we'll hear the whining from RoJo about 'only controlling 1/3rd of the Government.' Poor baby.

The US Chamber of Commerce is the parent of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, already notorious here for its strident defense of baby chop-shop parts sales.

And behold! A most docile RoJo betrays the entire 56% who voted him in.
Something tells me that RoJo will have a much smaller group of voters this time around. After all, McConnell already showed us that he doesn't heed (R) Senators to curl up in his fetal position. He can do that with far fewer, eh?
...Unfortunately, a Republican Party that continues to make the corrupt agenda of the Chamber of Commerce its own is destined to be pummeled once Obama leaves office and can no longer be used to drive conservative turnout. We have often called out Cdl. Dolan for his weakness on abortifacients and silliness on the St Pat's parade.
So when he does a very good thing, we'll compliment him. It's fair.
Dolan was one of the 13 Cardinals who sent a letter to Pp. Bergoglio; the letter expressed grave concerns about the direction of the Synod ongoing. The letter contained some very strong language:

In it the Vicar of Christ himself is warned by some of his most important assistants (his Secretary of the Economy, the guardian of the Doctrine of the Faith, the guardian of Divine Worship -- consider all that), and even of the not always consistent Cardinal Dolan (giving an idea of the wide spectrum covered by those concerned) on how this chaotic process created by the Pope himself is "rais[ing] even more fundamental issues about how the Church, going forward, should interpret and apply the Word of God, her doctrines and her disciplines to changes in culture."
The warning goes much further than that because, as several have highlighted, it uses an apocalyptic term, "collapse",
strictly related to how the ideas espoused by Kasper on communion for

Last week, RoJo (who forgot entirely why he was elected, hint, ObozoCare) went on record blaming "raised expectations" for the anti-Establishment rebellion now burning down the (R) Party.
There is no such thing as co-incidence: Tom Coburn said the same thing.

The GAB: Dumb and Worse. My Reform Proposal
Now the Legislature is getting somewhere, in the person of Rep. Craig.
First off, Craig asked why GAB was using GMAIL accounts (think Hillary!!) to send about 6 million documents illegally seized from various citizens.
Kennedy, the supercilious and arrogant twit-in-charge of GAB responded that "....someone told us to do so." Interesting that Kennedy, the supercilious and arrogant twit, "does not recall" (think Hillary!!) exactly WHO 'told us' that.
Meantime, the ex-judge, Nichols (Dane County, of course) came to the brink of admitting that the GAB Board (a bunch of ex-judges) were running a "walking quorum" to authorize the illegal search and seizure operation.

Bedwetter Brooks v. Real Conservatism
Rather than fisk Bedwetter/Crease-Admirer David Brooks (NYT, who else?) myself, I'll just lift Shapiro's nuclear bombing of the Bedwetter's mincing attack on Conservatives.
Bedwetter: Basically, the party abandoned traditional conservatism for right-wing radicalism. Republicans came to see themselves as insurgents and revolutionaries, and every revolution tends toward anarchy and ends up devouring its own.
Shapiro: Modern conservatives see the damage the left has wrought: an ever expanding government, an ever left-shifting social structure, the destruction of the foundations of Western civilizations. More importantly, they see what conservatives like Brooks have done in the face of such groundshifting change: virtually nothing.
Bedwetter: By traditional definitions, conservatism stands for intellectual humility, a belief in steady, incremental change, a preference for reform rather than revolution, a respect for hierarchy, precedence, balance and order, and a tone of voice that is prudent, measured and responsible. Conservatives of this disposition can be dull, but they know how to nurture and run institutions. They also see the nation as one organic whole. Citizens may fall into different classes and political factions, but they are still joined by chains of affection that command ultimate loyalty and love....
Shapiro: ...this is absolute horseshit. Traditional conservatism stands for principles, not just tactics. Conservatism prefers intellectual humility not because conservatives should politely demur in the face of civilization-destroying leftism, but because lack of intellectual humility leads to tyranny. Conservatism believes in incremental change only when the status quo is decent. It does not prefer incrementalism in rolling back the evils of radical leftism. The idiotic notion that establishment Republicans have done a wonderful job “nurturing and running institutions” has been disproved by years of useless establishment Republican governance. And as to the notion that the nation is “one organic whole…joined by chains of affection,” Brooks is living in a nation that no longer exists....
Bedwetter: Civilization was always on the brink of collapse. Every setback, like the passage of Obamacare, became the ruination of the republic. Comparisons to Nazi Germany became a staple. This produced a radical mind-set....

But conservatives should be on war footing given the radicalism and tyranny of Barack Obama and his ever-ascendant left. Brooks seems convinced that everything will be okay, if we just speak nicely. Conservatives wonder what he’s smoking. Brooks and his friends find comparisons to Nazi Germany uncouth, and believe it could never happen here, ever, under any circumstances. Most Germans thought the same thing....

EPA to Close Milwaukee Down. Where's RoJo?
Last week, Sen. Ron Johnson delivered a whine to local Republicans to the effect that a Republican-held House and Republican-held Senate were powerless to stop the Obozo.
Yah. That 2014 election? Pffffffffft!
Turns out that the powerless Republicans may actually be plotting to eliminate Milwaukee from the map. See, since they won't stop Obozo's EPA from enforcing its new 70PPB ozone limits, Milwaukee will likely become a "non-attainment" area (like the 4 county area already IS) and EPA will force Milwaukee to stop job-creation in places like.......factories!!.
Smart!! No Milwaukee, no Democrat stronghold aside from Dane County!
