The recommendation, like many others, was essentially ignored. Today the government spends about $1 billion annually for almost 15% of seniors on Medicare to get the test.
There are several dozen and possibly hundreds of such "low-value care" treatments – medical practices that have little or no clinical benefit, or which have a risk that outweighs their potential benefit, according to medical literature. They include Vitamin D blood tests and MRIs for mild lower-back pain. In all, more than one-third of Medicare beneficiaries receive a low-value intervention every year, costing taxpayers several billion dollars....
We would suggest that forcing Medicare beneficiaries to visit the doc annually is also a large waste of time and money.

The Justice Department has issued an important ruling requiring states to follow the legislated rule of reporting illegal aliens who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). This rule can substantially alter the nature of financial support programs currently taking place with federal funds....
Here's the explainer from DoJ:
... “Our clarification does not impose new obligations on states,” said Deputy Assistant Attorney General Joshua Craddock of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel and author of the opinion. “It simply restores the original meaning of the statute Congress enacted and ensures that DHS receives the information it is legally entitled to. States that accept TANF funding must abide by federal law, and failure to comply may lead to serious consequences, including loss of program funding.”
The Office withdrew a Clinton-era opinion from 1998 that construed the reporting requirement much more narrowly. Under that prior interpretation, only the specific state agencies administering TANF or SSI were required to provide information to federal immigration authorities. All fifty states, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. territories currently participate in TANF and SSI, and federal TANF funding grants exceed $16.4 billion annually.
The Office of Legal Counsel’s Sept. 1 opinion explains that Congress defined “State” broadly in the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. As a result, when a state accepts federal TANF or SSI funds, the entire state government — including all component agencies — is bound by federal law to share information with DHS about individuals the state knows to be not lawfully present....
It is prospective, not retrospective. So if Tiny Tony refuses, Wisconsin loses*.

A "dark web" site called "Nexus" last night popped up with over 150 million scanned driver licenses and similar identity documents including UV and IR scans of them, which incidentally calls into question not just the security of the repository (duh!) but also what authorization said firm had to retain the data in the first place.
It appears that the data in question includes not just driver licenses but also over a half-million medical cards and several million travel documents of various sorts...

Under the standard Flock contract, those Data Centers come into the picture. This is a very short excerpt from a lengthy letter on the topic.
... What Flock’s (and every other similar such system, like Axon) do is use machine learning to take from the photographic image that the vehicle is a 2015 silver Mazda 6 with a given tag on it. This is then put into a common format such as the above and hashed using the common SHA256 algorithm which produces the above string. That string along with the date, time and exact location of the camera is then stored in their database and never deleted. They also can do the same thing with any other identifiable data they collect, such as the Bluetooth MAC address of every single phone in the vehicle (you can read that if you’re within about 30’ of any such device that is turned on), the WiFi address (if your phone has it on or your car has a “hotspot” it can be read within a couple hundred feet), the same for any “connected car” interface (e.g. cellular, which most modern cars have even if you’ve not subscribed to the service) and even the TPMS sensors in your tires which are RF-transmitting devices that have unique serial numbers and likewise can be read from the side of the road. In addition the same machine-learning can turn a face into a set of machine representations and then hash that. All of this of course has a unique “serial number” as well which the system can trace back to the precise location of the camera that took the image along with the date and time and each piece of said information thus links you to everyone (and everything) else captured in that same event.
All of this is stored permanently by Flock and every one of these other firms in a database which is why they need these huge data centers to do so. Then at any time any person who they decide is part of their commercial interest and Flock permits to do so, not just law enforcement, can ask their system to produce a detailed map of every place every one of those desired markers has been from the first time they were ever seen all the way to the present day, including all linked persons and known associations, all without having a single original image. Sheriff Hodges’ wife, children and grandsons, if they have been “scanned” by such cameras (e.g. if they have a personal cellphone or have had their faces imaged as they drove by one of these cameras) can have every place they’ve been seen anywhere in the United States by one of these devices across any firm that has interconnect agreements including but certainly not limited to those run by Axon. The same is true for our Mayor, our Governor and every member of the County Commission, all of our Judges, all of our Sheriff Deputies, every member of their families and quite-literally everyone else who resides in or travels through our county.
Given access to that database anyone can determine with extremely high accuracy given enough such captures, which for most people will occur within days or weeks exactly where anyone lives, works, shops, worships and everyone who they associate with and exactly when they did so is now visible to anyone who contracts with Flock – or any other firm that has an interconnect agreement with them now or in the future....

It defines itself practically in terms of reflexive reaction against the rulers' defining ideas and proclivities -- e.g., ever higher taxes and expanding government, subsidizing political favorites, social engineering, approval of abortion, etc. Many want to restore a way of life largely superseded. Demographically, the country class is the other side of the ruling class's coin: its most distinguishing characteristics are marriage, children, and religious practice. While the country class, like the ruling class, includes the professionally accomplished and the mediocre, geniuses and dolts, it is different because of its non-orientation to government and its members' yearning to rule themselves rather than be ruled by others.
Codevilla goes on, but doesn't mention the last several years' abuses, which include the Covid Fraud, the likelihood of Election Fraud on a massive scale (81 MILLION votes??) the obvious 'They Will Not Be Punished" two-tier justice system, the also-obvious nascent beginning of PanOpticon--which--together with Data Center capabilities--will create a surveillance state that Stalin would have died for. No need for "snitches'!!
So to those who ask "What's the Problem with Data Centers"?
Let's start with hubris, move on to "Who Pays" and then to that Surveillance State that they facilitate.
It's not really "Data Centers" per se. They just happen to be the Ruling Class' newest toy which will be shoved down your stinking throat no matter what you say or do--just like those damn cameras.

Deutsche Welle (DW) claims in “How climate change is teaming up with ‘Super El Nino” that a developing “Super El Niño,” combined with climate change, could make 2026 one of the hottest years on record while increasing the risks of heat waves, wildfires, droughts, hurricanes, and marine heat waves around the world. This is highly misleading. El Niño are long-recognized naturally recurring ocean-atmosphere cycles that have operated for thousands of years and strong El Niño events have occurred periodically throughout history, long before industrial greenhouse gas emission began to increase.
The first red flag appears in the headline itself. There is no official meteorological definition of a “Super El Niño.”...
The "Super" is pure propaganda.
