Pp. Francis Misses the Point. Big-Time.

At one time, the current Pope was a professor.  So why does he miss the ball so badly?

Pope Francis recalled a massive storm that struck northern Italy last fall, saying such natural disasters are nature’s way of sounding an alarm to make us more environmentally engaged....
Does "nature" sound alarms?  No.  "Nature" is not a sentient entity.  So the Pope has a category-error of the first magnitude in his fatuous remark.

If it is true that 'an alarm is sent' by weather events, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, who might be sending this "alarm"?

Hmmmmmm???  Someone Who controls nature, perhaps??

That's the Catholic view, but that view is foreign to Francis' weltaunschuung.

And if Someone IS 'sending an alarm,' it is certainly not 'to make us more environmentally engaged.'

It is a reminder of the four last things:  death, judgment, heaven, and hell.

You'd think that a "professor" who taught in a Catholic university would seize the opportunity given him here and recommend a visit to the Confessional, and an amendment of one's life.

Nah.
