Reckless Republican School Spending, Again

The Republican-controlled Legislature is back into Reckless Spending Mode on the public screwels.

Again.

A while back, the Elmbrook District's Supervisor cried him a river about the Stingy State:

“Elmbrook remains disappointed in the lack of commitment to children from the Joint Finance Committee,” said Mark Hansen, Superintendent of the Elmbrook School District...

Hansen's problem is prospective--the giant tax-payer called "Brookfield Square" will no longer be throwing oodles of tax dollars into Hansen's pocket, so he's getting in front of it.

But he's also lying.

...the proposed spending on K-12 education for the 2022-2023 school year is $1.4 billion more than it was in the 2015-2016 school year when Republicans controlled the legislative and executive branches. That is an increase of 26% over just four budgets....

Can it get worse?  Hell, YES!!

...In the 2015-2016 school year there were 867,137 public school students in Wisconsin. This year, there are 826,935 public school students. That is a decline of over 40,000 public school students, but taxpayer spending continues to climb. On a per-student basis, state funding of K-12 education has increased by 32% since the 2015-2016 school year....

Evers, a white man, will also lie like a rug about how tight-fisted the Republicans are.

Republicans who proposed this spending should all resign, of course.  They won't.  They like spending Other People's Money.

HT Owen who does all the math!

What's going on at Brookfield Square?

Sears is gone and torn down, replaced by a City of Bkfld "conference center"--tax-exempt, of course. Boston Store is dead.

Overall tax valuation will drop as brick-and-mortar retail goes away.
