We still have wonderful people and are blessed to have them.
A Missouri man died after helping rescue two kids from Lake Michigan in Racine Sunday, according to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to North Beach shortly after 3 p.m. "for an individual who was unaccounted for after he went into Lake Michigan," the sheriff's office said.
According to initial reports, two boys "showed that they were in distress" just north of North Pier by large rocks. A 40-year-old relative "entered the water to save the children."
He assisted in their rescue, but he did not emerge from the water.
