Cardinal Blase Cupich, who was appointed by Pope Francis (in 2014) to oversee the Archdiocese of Chicago, said that it was not his policy to deny Holy Communion or Catholic funerals to people in same-sex marriages....
(Think back to the ejection of Fr. Frank Phillips from his very successful parish in Chicago in light of the above. Hmmmmmm???)
The Cardinal flashes his FrancisConfusion card:

Ahhh!! The old "Ideals cannot be reached" theory. Screwtape, a Diabolic Master, had something to say about that:

That maniacal laughter you hear? It's coming from under the Chancery in Chicago.

Ah yes, then there is this little ditty from the Catechism about "circumstances":
It is therefore an error to judge the morality of human acts by considering only the intention that inspires them or the *circumstances* (environment, social pressure, duress or emergency, etc.) which supply their context. There are acts which, in and of themselves, independently of circumstances and intentions, are always gravely illicit by reason of their object; such as blasphemy and perjury, murder and adultery. One may not do evil so that good may result from it. (CCC 1756, stars added)
So, regardless of the... um, *circumstances* - one may *not* do evil so that a (supposed) "good" may come from it (same-se* "marriage).
This man is basically a moral relativist.
Or to put it more succinctly Catechist, the man is an idiot and a cardinal idiot at that!
