We have not suddenly fallen in love with Big Bank. Citi, Chase, Wells, BoA--they're bloodsuckers now, and have been for decades. Just ask Joe Biden*, who made rate-profiteering easy for Delaware-based "banks."
Despite that general distaste, we draw the line someplace, and it's here.

She is a USSR-born and educated professor who praised the former Soviet Union’s pay policies. She recently called for ending banking “as we know it” by moving people’s accounts from private banks to the Federal Reserve....

Because nothing says "customer service" like a big building in D.C. populated by The Very Btightest Bureaucrats in the USA.
Which, come to think of it, is probably the point.
