Cdl Gregory Makes Up New Morality

This is amusing.

During a press conference this week, coordinated by the pro-mass migration group American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC), Gregory urged members of Congress to pass an amnesty for the roughly 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the U.S.

“Catholic social teaching upholds the principle that every person has the right to live in his or her own homeland in security and dignity,” Gregory said. “However, when loss of work forces migration, we must welcome them, protect them and share our abundance with them.”

“Standing in solidarity with our migrant brothers and sisters means once again raising the question, will we care for our neighbor?...

Catholic social teaching ALSO upholds the principle that nations may decide whether to admit aliens, and which ones to admit.  There is NO Catholic social teaching which compels nations to grant citizenship to anyone.  None.

Catholics and all people of faith are required to share their bounty with the less fortunate; to that end, there are countless 'good causes' both foreign and domestic, to which one can contribute cash or voluntary service.  A few of those are run by the US Bishops (but read the label very carefully on their appeals.)  The New Testament example of the Good Samaritan is a worthwhile story which does not support Cdl. Gregory's New Morality, by the way.

It is worth recalling that until the last 50 years or so, immigrants were required to be self-sufficient; they would not get ANY State or Federal 'assistance' programs after arrival here.  Perhaps Cdl. Gregory should investigate Catholic social teaching on the obligation of self-support.  It's interesting reading.
