Some actor named McConaughey has a request:
...McConaughey asked his friends who are gun owners to “take one for the team” by giving up their “assault weapons.”..
That's a very good way to lose friends, McConaughey. And--if I may ask--whose 'team'?
He says he went bird hunting as a kid, so he knows all about guns.
OK, then.

The (Overdue) Purge at RedState
Apparently the owner of RedState, Salem Media, has fired or not-renewed most of the contributors to that site, including Eric Erickson who was the biggest name there, if not the founder.
It was about time. A few months after the Inauguration, I cancelled their daily email service. Their kvetching and bitchiness about Trump was even more insane than that of Pelosi. They had to work very damned hard to get that bad.
On occasion, I'd check out the website's contents, and found exactly what I expected: stupid, silly, grousing and ululation about anything Trump.
Erickson has become a Baptist preacher. Well, OK, then.

Trump: 'I'll Shut Down the Country.' FINALLY!!!
This has the potential to offset some deficit spending: shutting off the Government.
"...One of the reasons they do it is because the Democrats actually feel and they are probably right, that all of these people pouring across are vote for Democrats. They will vote no matter what we do. So there is a theory they do it for that. A lot of times they don’t even know what they are doing or why they are doing it. But we have to have borders and we have to have them fast. We need security and we need the wall. That wall has started. We are $1.6 billion. We come up again September 28. If we don’t get border security we have no choice, we’ll close down the country because we need border security."...
That was Trump, believe it or not. Paul Ryan be cryin', and Schumer, he fumer.
Screw both of them.

Communism, the Opiate of the Innerlekshuls
We've referenced Alexander Solzhenitsyn a number of times on this blog, principally for his Harvard Address, which is worth re-reading annually. As you might expect, Solzhenitsyn has a wide group of admirers, including Putin; one of them is a fellow named Egor Kholmogorov, who will publish a 16k-word essay on the man.
These snippets are taken from the preamble to that work. They are noteworthy because they name and shame the ills we see today in the USA and in Western Europe. (Not, mind you, EASTERN Europe, which has become 'woke' to the threat described below.)
...The Gulag Archipelago, published in the West, carried out a sweeping detoxification of Western elites from their poisoning by Communism, that “opiate for the intellectuals” (to quote Raymond Aron). However, this transformation gave them no antidote for militant atheism, the very force that had spawned Bolshevism. A liberal version of anti-Communism logically led to the triumph of Communism under the modernized and updated guise of Cultural Marxism – leftist feminism, totalitarian “tolerance”, racist “anti-racism”, the final victory of Homintern. Even this had already been envisioned by Solzhenitsyn. He theorized that, at a certain point in the future, a Russia liberated from Communist totalitarianism would gaze in horror at the triumph of a Liberal-built Western “Communism”....
"But, but," you say, "the US is a church-going country!!!"
Wrong, minority-breath. The influence of Christianity prevails only in the South, and that influence is tenuous. The centers of influence--New York, D.C., and the West Coast--are either blatantly atheistic or are 'practically' atheist: religious-in-name-only. They may go to church but they don't believe a word of it.
It cannot be stressed enough that Cult precedes Culture. What you worship will determine how you behave, and atheism is the precursor of nihilism. Nihilism can be shaped to resemble a Christianized humanism--but it is not humanistic at all. It is the culture of Death, exactly as John Paul II called it. It is the culture of mass-murderers, opiates, and suicide(s).
...Communism and Liberalism are two siblings spawned by the Enlightenment ideology that would put mankind on the disastrous road of worshiping Matter instead of Spirit, which would inevitably lea to the sullying and degradation of said Matter. Solzhenitsyn puts forward a detailed and consistent anti-Enlightenment doctrine: A return to God, voluntary self-restraint and self-restriction of humankind, emphasizing duties instead of ever-expanding “rights”, prioritizing inner freedom, and rejecting the sacrifice of national life not only to totalitarian utopia but also to the orgy of freedom....
(Shades of Patrick Deneen!!)
THIS is the battle, not some fabbledrabble over tax rates, drug-costs, or weapons. THIS battle will be won on your knees praying, not under the Capitol dome.
Get to it!

We're waiting for Kruze Kaptain Kristol and Engine Room-mate Erickson (recently denuded of a web presence) to raise a glass to Trump for that Korea thing.
Waiting, but not stupid enough to hold breath.....

The Anti-Hogg Broward Student
When I say 'anti-Hogg' I mean that this kid actually does Real Reporting, not bleating and posturing.
And he's managed to piss off the school board in the process.
Yah. The truth hurts.....
...3) Over the last month, I’ve dug through thousands of government document pages and interviewed dozens of people. I found evidence of two things: over $100m in school safety funds that have gone unspent and policies that keep violent students (like 18-1958) out of jail....
...5) In a tweet, Superintendent @RobertwRuncie called our report "fake news" and suggested we contact @FloridaTaxWatch, an independent group tasked with helping to oversee the distribution of the money. So I did. FL TaxWatch VP of Research Bob Nave agreed with my numbers....
Oh, that's not the best one....
...19) Board Member @ReverendRos went as far as to suggest that our inquiry into these concerns was an exploitation of bloodshed for “personal gain”. She’s the same board member who removed her kids from the school district over “safety concerns.”...
Pretty sure he'll never have a job at CNNMSLSDNBCSEEBSABC or the NYSlimes.

Sloppy: Yahoo-to-Verizon Handoff FIXED!!
For .....I dunno, maybe 20 years?.....I've had a Yahoo mail account.
Yahoo is history; Verizon took over its functions, including its email.
Except that Verizon hasn't managed to get its security certificates in place over/under/around--whatever--the old Yahoo (Symantec) system.
So my email is in never-never land. I can see that it's there, but cannot read it and cannot send email.
That's really sloppy, boys. Disappointing, as we said at the club the other night, when the beer was served warm.
UPDATE: Fixed overnight, we think.

Nicholson Goes....Wierd
Kevin Nicholson, who was a Marine officer--just in case you haven't heard that--has his very own dictionary.
....."For those that have said that leading Marines in combat during the course of two wars does not qualify as conservative credentials need to look inside them and decide what they think conservative credentials are."....
Umnnhh.....well.....I think Kirk said it a lot better.
...It has been said by liberal intellectuals that the conservative believes all social questions, at heart, to be questions of private morality. Properly understood, this statement is quite true. A society in which men and women are governed by belief in an enduring moral order, by a strong sense of right and wrong, by personal convictions about justice and honor, will be a good society—whatever political machinery it may utilize; while a society in which men and women are morally adrift, ignorant of norms, and intent chiefly upon gratification of appetites, will be a bad society—no matter how many people vote and no matter how liberal its formal constitution may be....
You will note, Kevin, that being an officer in the Marines and leading men into combat was not mentioned there. (FYI, it's not mentioned in any of the rest of Kirk's essay.)
There's more:
...In a genuine community, the decisions most directly affecting the lives of citizens are made locally and voluntarily. Some of these functions are carried out by local political bodies, others by private associations: so long as they are kept local, and are marked by the general agreement of those affected, they constitute healthy community. But when these functions pass by default or usurpation to centralized authority, then community is in serious danger. Whatever is beneficent and prudent in modern democracy is made possible through cooperative volition. If, then, in the name of an abstract Democracy, the functions of community are transferred to distant political direction—why, real government by the consent of the governed gives way to a standardizing process hostile to freedom and human dignity....
Meaning that if you go to DC, you'll lead the charge to revive the 9th and 10th Amendments. Right??
Now, then. If you really wanted to say "I second Kirk!!", then you should make very clear that you wholeheartedly endorse every single word, including the red ones.
I'll grant you a mulligan, Kevin, assuming you can endorse these principles (and all the rest at the link.)

"Nice little campaign you have here. You're going to quit now, of course. Nice to have met 'ya."
Thus spake Steny Hoyer, acting as The Enforcer for the Democrat Party, while ending the primary campaign of some Obama Progressive wacko in Colorado.

MSM MIA While Globe Has Cooled!!
Yes, we did not hear about the most significant global cooling event in the last 100 years....
From February 2016 to February 2018 (the latest month available) global average temperatures dropped 0.56°C. You have to go back to 1982-84 for the next biggest two-year drop, 0.47°C—also during the global warming era. All the data in this essay come from GISTEMP Team, 2018: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis (GISTEMP). NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (dataset accessed 2018-04-11 at https://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/). This is the standard source used in most journalistic reporting of global average temperatures.
The 2016-18 Big Chill was composed of two Little Chills, the biggest five month drop ever (February to June 2016) and the fourth biggest (February to June 2017). A similar event from February to June 2018 would bring global average temperatures below the 1980s average. February 2018 was colder than February 1998......Real Clear Markets quoted at Breitbart.
Since 1880 or so, the globe has warmed by 0.80 degrees Celsius.
So these two little "coolings" have walked that back by more than half.
Time to fire up the coal burning stoves, people. Let the MSM freeze to death.

Like Ford Sedans? Buy One NOW
This is a very interesting move.
Ford Motor announced that it will phase out the Fiesta, Fusion, and Taurus sedans in the USA.
Mustang will remain, as will a re-done Focus which will be a hatchback.
The rest of the Blue Oval lineup will be trucks, crossovers, and SUV's.
Ford may not be alone there; there have been persistent rumors that GM will drop its Chevy Impala, as well as one of its 'tiny' cars--either the Sonic or the Spark. The Malibu, although re-styled and rather attractive, doesn't sell, either.
Can GM dump the Cruze? After all, there is the Bolt--a small-but-not-tiny all-electric....

Rich Lefties Are.......Racists
Ace has the whole story, but it boils down to this.
Lefty New York City rich-bitches and their babydaddies do not want their precious Darling Children associating with black or Hispanic children.
Period.
But you must understand, that's not because they are racists. No. Absolutely not. Never.
However, if YOU object to having YOUR children in a "diverse" classroom, you are--without question or doubt--a racist. Maybe even a xenophobe, and possibly a homophobe. But no two ways about it, you ARE a racist.

Broward's Cowards: True to Form
There's a cookbook for cowards, and Broward's Cowards follow it very well.
1) If in danger, hide.
2) If NOT in danger, pick on the little kid.
Would be fun to watch those jagwads come up against a couple dozen MS-13's, eh?

Theological liberalism is a movement that seeks to incorporate
various aspects of modern thinking and trends into the Christian faith,
while still staying true to the historical Doctrine of Things That Make
Me Feel Good Are True And Things That Make Me Feel Bad Are False.
Not bad at all.
What is theological liberalism?

9th Circuit Brotherhood
This proves what most of us were thinking anyway.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Monday found an ape satisfies the criteria for standing to bring a lawsuit under Article III of the Constitution....
Yup. And the 9th Circuit demonstrates that being an ape is no bar to wearing black robes.

Paul Ryan, Sleeping at the Switch
The story about the House Democrat computer security breaches has been in circulation for about 6 months. Large quantities of House records and emails have allegedly been shipped to the government of Pakistan, which is NOT a loyal ally of the US.
And Paul Ryan, Mister "That's Who We Are" does not have the balls to wrestle the (D) caucus to the ground and get to the bottom of the affair.
Gee, Paul. We know you never de-funded BabyKillers, Inc. But don't you give a flying damn about National Security?

John Brennan's Communist Dreams From His Father
John Brennan, Obozo's CIA director, supported the Communists. That linkage (Obama and Brennan) is key knowledge with respect to why Obama's Administration was spying on Donald Trump.
Those two--Obama and Brennan--have a bond in Communism. Remember that Obama's "father-figure" Frank Marshall was a Communist. Don't EVER forget that.
Now we also know that Obama & Co. began spying on Trump, noting the names of several hundred Trump supporters and contacts, without ANY "national security" excuse whatsoever.
(Really, we knew that a long time ago. It just became official yesterday.)
The Communists have long held the objective of destroying the United States economically and politically. They came within a whisker on the political side in November 2018.
Don't forget that, either.

Extreme Lefty: Lynde Uihlein's Plans for Your Money
The ultra-posh Buckhead Intercontinental Hotel was the site of a recent ultra-Lefty conference. Using ultra-posh hotels demonstrates the Extreme Left's devotion to the poor and marginalized, of course. The poor and marginalized get tip-income from their galley-slave positions at ultra-posh hotels, see??
One of the organizer-attendees was Lynde Uihlein, the ultra-rich Extreme Lefty Milwaukeean who was a major supporter ofPlanned Parenthood Murder, Inc. for many years here. She spends her beer-and-electric controls fortune on making sure there will be less beer-drinkers who occupy houses, ya'know, because that makes sense.
In all likelihood, she also wrote the check to bring Mark Pocan, who--just like Tammy--does nothing except place-holding in Congress.
But hey! They're going to elect "progressive" state attorney-generals like the jackwads in California and New York. Because they really represent Americans, ya'know. And they have plans to extract money from white people, too.
...“It’s 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations,” the group projected, according to an invitation to the event....
Well, perhaps Lynde Uihlein will toss $100 million or so into that pot.

Waffle House Policy Kills Customers??
If it were not for the heroic efforts of James Shaw, Jr., the nutbag shooter could have killed far more than four people at the Tennessee Waffle House.
Why?
Because Waffle House does not allow self-defense with firearms. Waffle House did not learn the lesson of October 2015--where an armed patron fatally wounded an armed robber at one of their locations--and Waffle House refuses to learn.
Doesn't sound like a very safe place to eat breakfast, does it?

Mexico Looks......Bad
The Mexican Gummint(s) have historically been a shining model for Corruptocrats worldwide.
So it looks like Mexico will soon vote for a change: a Marxist.
That has implications for GM, Ford, Chrysler, VW, Evinrude, and a whole lot of other US companies which have stuck $$$ umpty-billions into that shithole.
You may want to look at short positions on those stocks.....

The Marine's Right-Hand Jerk
While Wiggy and I have our differences, the sort of ass-hole-ry demonstrated by Nicholson's right-hand twerp will not infest our conversations.
First off, The Marine should teach this little pustule how to shave. It may be far too late to teach him 'respect for elders,' but a good buttstroke in the solar plexus might go a ways. (Too bad the military gave up on the M-14. MUCH better butt-stroke weapon than the -16A2.)
By the way, have you heard that Nicholson is a Marine?

The Mueller You SHOULD Know
This guy Mueller is a dumkopf at best, and a threat to the US at worst. After you read the linked item, you will eliminate the "dumkopf" option. This post has only a few highlights.
The anthrax case is a fine starting point; one of his lieutenants here was James Comey.
...in 2001, letters containing anthrax were mailed to media outlets and the offices of Sens. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., killing five people and infecting 17 others. The FBI quickly focused on an innocent man named Steven Hatfill, relentlessly pursuing him for years while the real killer walked free....
The guy Mueller persecuted (Hatfill) was paid $5++million in settlement by us normie citizen-taxpayers. Altogether, this bungle cost about $100 million. And by the way: Mueller decided that ANOTHER guy was responsible for the attacks. That guy killed himself, but even then, the Nat'l Academy of Sciences thought that Mueller's "science" was sketchy. So did the Gov't Accountability Board.
Nevertheless, he persisted!
Here's the 'National Security Risk' Mueller. As usual in national security breaches, a close Clinton Family ally is involved.
...when it came to the case of Samuel “Sandy” Berger, a Clinton White House national security adviser. In the run-up to testifying before the 9/11 Commission that sought to examine the failures that led to those terrorist attacks, Berger visited the National Archives to review classified documents with his notes on them.
But instead he intentionally removed and destroyed multiple copies of a classified document the commission should have reviewed for national security purposes, and lied to investigators about it. He was found to have stuffed the documents in his socks and otherwise hidden them. His punishment was that he was allowed to plead guilty in 2005 to a single misdemeanor. He served no jail time but had to give up his security clearance for three years....
And here's Mueller being a Playah in the Deep State Theatre of the Macabre and Absurd. This show is all about putting Republican allies into prison, as opposed to Democrat allies like Berger.
...After Valerie Plame’s identity as a CIA employee was leaked, a special counsel operation was set up to investigate the leak. Mueller’s deputy Comey pressured John Ashcroft to recuse himself from the case on the grounds he had potential conflicts of interest.
Comey named Patrick Fitzgerald, his close personal friend and godfather to one of his children, to the role of special counsel. Mueller, Comey, and Fitzgerald all knew the whole time that Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage was the leaker. Yet they set things up so Fitzgerald would aggressively investigate the Bush administration for three years, jailed a journalist for not giving up a source, and pursued both Karl Rove and Scooter Libby.
Comey even expanded the investigation’s mandate within weeks of setting up the special counsel. Libby, who was pardoned by President Trump last week, was rung up on a process charge in part thanks to prosecutorial abuse by Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald encouraged a witness to give false testimony by not providing exonerating evidence to her and Libby’s attorneys....
And Mueller's boyzzz prosecuted the Stevens case, which a Fed Judge called the WORST EVER CASE of prosecutorial misconduct he'd seen in his lifetime.
Lying, cheating, persecuting, spending large and costing the defendant everything: THESE are the hallmarks of the Deep State/Establishment Class M.O.
These are people who, like Carthage, should be deleted, and buried in unmarked graves at crossroads far from town. I think Judge Mukasey's 'good men' assessment is flat-out wrong. "Win at any cost" is not the hallmark of a 'good man.' It is usually prelude to very bad things.
That's the Mueller you SHOULD know.
"Only WE Can Have Guns!!!"
Some Wisconsin cops signed a petition arguing against "mandated reciprocity" of Concealed Carry permits. This is being considered in Congress--which is another assault on the 9th Amendment, by the way--but we thought you'd like to know which cops in Wisconsin are undie-bundled over the idea.
Beiderwieden of DePere, Reedy of New Holstein, Uhl of Oregon, Rieper of Cumberland, and (of course) Roman of UW-Madistan cop shop.
Yes, I know. Some of these guys are Andy and have only one Barney...

Ooohhhh!! Coonies to Walk Out, Again! UPDATED
It appears that Oconomowoc kiddies will march around and around and around and around again, today.
...Oconomowoc's event is being led by Will
Grosspietsch, one of the organizers of the March 14 walkout at his
school. It will start at 10 a.m., where students will meet outside the
school and march to the green in downtown Oconomowoc, arriving around
10:40 a.m. A rally will then begin at 11 a.m. with student speeches.
Guest
speakers will then speak, starting at 11:50 a.m., each having a 20
minute window. First will be Waukesha County Democratic Party Chairman
Matt Lowe, followed by Khary Penebaker, the Wisconsin member of the
National Democratic National Committee and finally, Mandela Barnes, a
former state representative and candidate for lieutenant governor....
Oconomowoc High academics are ranked 325th or so in the latest W.I.L.L. survey. It occurs to us that the administration might want to concentrate on teaching their students to think, rather than march around and around and around.
(Yesterday, April 19th, was the anniversary of the Shot Heard 'Round the World as the British attempted to impound the arms of the colonists. That didn't turn out well for the British, and that should be a warning to the twit-brigades--child OR adult--trying to run the same game.)
UPDATE: There are, generously, two dozen actual students at the event. There are also two dozen old people (Oconomowoc has a sizeable Lefty population). The police are on hand to keep an eye on the Democrat speakers.

Sykes Spotted!!
Saw a screen-grab the other day which included Charlie Sykes.
His candidate McMuffin apparently stiffed a few campaign workers for $$low-5-figures. Egg, however, doesn't appear to give a crap.
Meantime, Charlie's Cruise Captain, the Mouth Without an Audience, Junior Kristol, gets an ass-whipping from an actual Conservative.
...You know all that insufferable babbling and crying about "principles" we had to endure from you Never Trump Konservative Ken Dolls? Your rending of your cheap suits, your 180s over classic GOP policies because The Donald actually tried to enact them, and your mortifying blubbering to suddenly sympathetic hosts on MSNBC and CNN about how awful our President is? With your sad, drawn faces and high-pitched voices, you True Conservatives of Conservatisn [TM], you Keepers of the Flame of Conservativeness resisted the coming of Donald Trump (and those who supported him) because... because...
Because that's not who we are...
Because we're better than that...
Because... our principles!
Our principles. Yeah, right. Well, it was all a crock, a con, a grift by a bunch of displaced Beltway strivers furious that the marks -- that's us Normals -- wised up to their scam, played the players, and sent them packing.....--quoted at AOSHQ
Yes, I voted Cruz--but only in the primary. Trump has been a very pleasant surprise. He has rough spots, but I didn't vote for a Saint. Just a President who gives a damn about the USA and ALL its citizens.

Liked "The Blues Brothers"??
Ran down to Joliet today.
Jake and Elwood had left the building.
But if you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY liked the movie, you'll be happy to know that you can spend a day and night in the Federal prison there, where the opening scenes of the movie were shot.
Which gives rise to the question: Just how much of a Belushi/Akroyd nut do you have to be to spend a few days in a closed Federal Graybar Hotel??

UW-Mad and the KKK
Interesting little story here about a number of UW-Madison students who also were members of the KKK. UW has a problem because the names of a couple of them are plastered on markers around the campus.
The story doesn't mention it, but the KKK had another major target besides blacks.
Catholics.
Not for nothing did my Daddy tell me that UW-Madison was an anti-Catholic school.
By the way, UW is not going to tear everything down and salt the earth, which is a relief. They're not going the Idiot Route that some of the Southern States are taking.
Yet.

Bishop Sheen. You Should Know His Name
Many of our Catholic friends know of Bp. Fulton Sheen, but of course our friends are demi-geriatrics. The kids? That's another thing. They don't know about him, or maybe--if their parents bring it up--they've 'heard of the guy.' He's on his way to being canonized a Saint of the Church.
So I've read, by luck, several dozen of his short essays are contained in a book: "On Being Human" which is still available (!!!) and YOU SHOULD BUY IT.
Anyhow.
Sheen taught at Catholic University, worked in New York as a parish priest and Auxiliary Bishop, and had a very successful radio and television career from 1930-1968 or so. His TV series "Life is Worth Living" is available on YouTube. YOU SHOULD WATCH IT.
He had a very good grasp of societal trends--just reading these essays can bring a knowing grin to one's face.
Today I ran across a passage which is remarkable. Sheen was discussing the receding of Reason in the US and he wrote:
"What has taken the place of reason? Emotion, feeling, sentiment, repetition, subliminal suggestion, the irrational and glandular reaction. The blindfolded lady of Reason has given way to the Aeolian harp....
"One notices this particularly in the Aeolian harps of the 20th century: radio and television. Practically no advertisement appeals to reason....
"What effect does the antirational or Aeolian harp have on religion? Religion which appeals to reason, justice, sin, and Word Incarnate has little appeal to the emotional masses of people. Religion is aboveground with reason and theology; the masses are underground with doubts, fears, frustrations, anxieties, dreads. ..."
When the most-used expression is "I feel......." instead of "I THINK......" you know that Sheen was right. You can smell the lack of Reason in politics, of course; that's a given. But that lack of Reason has assaulted the Law, too. That's going to be a problem.
Ask Sheen to pray for us. And buy the book!

Pretty Much Says It All
Schlichter observes that the Pubbie Poohbahs in DC/NY think it's all over but the shouting for November.
...But nothing is a done deal. We have six months. The Republicans just need to get smart and fight.
Oh. Well, we’re doomed....
Pretty much the case.
...Yes, the Democrats do have a major advantage in the fact that the Republican establishment, especially in Congress, is largely a gaggle of drooling idiots. From Sissy Sasse to Foamy Marco, these fussy failures seem determined to demoralize the base with their tedious moralizing about how “We are better than that” and “Oh, well I never.” The GOP would have no problem if these dorks had just one tenth the will to win as they do the will to posture for the benefit of a liberal media that hates them and that will disembowel them the moment they stop being useful idiots and become merely idiots....--quoted at ColdFury
Yup. That's true, too.
Well. Given what we saw in Wisconsin with the G.A.B. and the sleazeballs Falk, Schmitz, and Chisholm--and the fact that it's being repeated in D.C. with another bunch of slimebucket lawyers, the thing to do is this:
And know how to use it.

Should Be Interesting: (D) Gov Candidate
Some guy who works at a radio station pronounced "WIERD"--and it fits--is going to run in the (D) primary for Governor.
[Mike] Crute, who co-hosts the Devil’s Advocates Radio Show on WRRD 1510 AM in Milwaukee and WTTN 1580 AM in Madison and Columbus, told the Wisconsin State Journal he’s interviewed all of the other Democratic candidates for governor and wasn’t impressed with any of them.
“I don’t think any of them are being bold enough as campaigners to beat Scott Walker,” Crute told the State Journal. “I’m going to be shockingly bold. That means tune in.”
Crute has hired former “non-partisan” Government Accountability Board (GAB) attorney Shane Falk to be his election attorney....
Falk is easily the slimiest lawyer in the Upper Midwest. Blago of Illinois isn't even close to Falk in that contest. These are the people that a good cop follows around, knowing that there will be an incident. And if you have children, make sure you're armed if these people are nearby.

Why the Rush Job, Congress?
We are told that Chairman Goodlatte (Judiciary), Chairman Nunes (Intel) and Chairman Gowdy (Oversight) are pressing the Department of Justice for unredacted memos from Comey on...whatever.
Hmmmm.
Recall that Gowdy is a Very Suspicious Character who more and more seems to be serving the Deep State rather than actual US citizen/taxpayers. Nunes is a showboater. Goodlatte's been around DC for a very long time........take it for what it's worth.
Anyhow.
...U.S. Prosecutor John Huber is paralleling IG Horowitz on all investigative findings that fall into potentially criminal conduct. The evidence being culled into the Huber files are not going to congress because they are potentially evidence in ongoing criminal cases. The Huber evidence contains grand jury material and evidence of likely criminal conduct....
Once the material gets into Congress, it loses viability as criminal evidence, if nothing else but because the criminals then KNOW WHAT WE KNOW. Get it?
So to repeat? Why the Rush Job? Hmmmmm??

Milo (!!) v. Fr Martin and Twit Megan Fox
Apparently the Jebbies' America magarag interviewed Milo Yiannopolous on the topic of homosexuality, but has spiked the item.
Maybe that has to do with Milo's aggressive non-PC approach to matters?
..."Amusingly, while the Jesuits struggled to decide if they could bear to publish my answers, one of the Church’s highest ranking Cardinals called out Fr. Martin by name as 'one of the most outspoken critics of the Church’s message with regard to sexuality,'" he said. "That means my side in this dispute enjoys support from a black prince of the Church [Cdl. Sarah] raised on a continent where martyrdom is common, while the other side’s champion is a white bourgeois man in whose life the worst threat is that the wine is a bit off this week. Ask yourself: Which of these men would you want to have your six?"...
Well, indeed.....
Meantime, the author of the linked piece, one Megan Fox, confuses "free speech" with "spouting idiocy on Church grounds."
...Fr. Martin was recently disinvited from speaking at several events over the controversy, which should not happen in America. Shutting down speech is something the left does that conservative people should shun. It is imperative to respond to any hotly debated topic with more reasoned arguments, not less....
Ms. Fox, actual Conservatism recognizes that there is an end--a telos--which is The Prize, and speech which clouds the way to that telos, or which derogates from the priority of The Prize, should be banned under most circumstances. In other words, "free speech" is not an absolute, just as SCOTUS has ruled.
It's not that Ms. Fox doesn't have a good grasp of the issues here; it's that she mis-understands priorities. Since Fr. Martin is an excellent stand-in for Old Scratch, whose lies are NEVER blatant, Fr. Martin does not belong on a college campus except under tightly-controlled conditions.
Meantime, Milo is asking for prayer. Let's accommodate him.

Did Trump Get Suckered?
Codevilla is barely able to disguise his contempt for the War Party wackos who apparently suckered Trump with pictures of crying children.
[The strikes'] only consequence is to highlight the poverty of the foreign policy of which they are part: driven by questionable intelligence, the “CNN effect,” and an inability to come to grips with real problems.
The strikes did a little harm to Syrian leader Bashar al Assad, who is a dependent of Iran and Russia and who is nearly helpless vis à vis our newest enemy, Turkey. Iran is extending its reach to the Mediterranean and threatening war on Israel. Russia is solidifying hegemony over the Middle East. Turkey is making war on the Kurds, the only real allies the United States has had in the region in a generation. Instead of braking any of these ominous developments, the U.S. government, reverting to type, destroyed a few buildings and hyped its own virtues in garbled neo-Wilsonian lingo.
The U.S. government’s claim that the Assad regime used chlorine gas and sarin together (that would be a first) against civilians separately from movement of ground troops (military nonsense) may or may not be correct. The government presented no evidence except videos. When it does have evidence, it usually crows. “Tin foil hats” are not necessary for skepticism, given U.S. intelligence’s historic and unbroken allergy to checking information that comes over the transom, its reflexive reaction to cable news reports of reported atrocities, and its own penchant for grandstanding....
Live by the TeeVee, die by the TeeVee. Next time, Donald, we hope you know how propaganda works.

Note to Area Church Musicians
Fr Hunwicke researched the workings of Screwtape and came up with this little gem.
"Music and silence - how I detest them both! How thankful we should be that ever since our Father entered Hell ... no square inch of infernal time has been surrendered to either of those abominable forces, but all has been occupied by Noise - Noise, the grand dynamism, the audible expression of all that is exultant, ruthless and virile - Noise which alone defends us from silly qualms, despairing scruples and impossible desires. We will make the whole universe a noise in the end. We have already made great strides in this direction as regards the Earth. The melodies and silences of Heaven will be shouted down in the end. But I admit we are not yet loud enough, or anything like it. Research is in progress ..."...
Yes, indeed. Only 2 days ago I was assaulted by "noise" in the local parish--even though the 'noise' contained (badly-sung) elements of Chant, as an excuse for its existence. Nonetheless, it was "noise," and apparently sanctioned by the pastor.
Shortening Purgatory!!!

Sorry, Bolton: NO GAS ATTACK in Syria
Something rather odd is going on here.
Robert Fisk's bombshell first-hand account for the UK Independent runs contrary to nearly every claim circulating in major international press concerning what happened just over week ago on April 7th in an embattled suburb outside Damascus: not only has the veteran British journalist found no evidence of a mass chemical attack, but he's encountered multiple local eyewitnesses who experienced the chaos of that night, but who say the gas attack never happened.
Fisk is the first Western journalist to reach and report from the site of the alleged chemical weapons attack widely blamed on Assad's forces. Writing from Douma in eastern Ghouta, Fisk has interviewed a Syrian doctor who works at the hospital shown in one of the well-known videos which purports to depict victims of a chemical attack. ...
Far be it from us to suggest that the War Party/Deep State could have lied to Trump. Certainly, if Sean Hannity and Stash Bolton believe whatever video they see, it has to be true, right?
Trump may have caught on to the scam; he's pulled back on more punishment for Russia.

What the Hell is Alex Acosta Thinking?
Alex Acosta is Trump's Secretary of Labor.
While he can't be faulted for what the Obozo DoL started, he CAN be faulted for continuing cases as stupid as this one. In fact, he should be taken out to the shed for a good horsewhipping.
Maybe he IS the mental twin to that CNN stooge.

Trump Doesn't Bother With "Laws"
It would appear that Trump has a bad case of Swamp Fever, which manifests in "I'm ABOVE the Law!!" outbursts.
Despite TrumpBolton claims to the contrary, the President did NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY to toss a bunch of missiles at Syrian installations. (As we noted below, there's question whether he even had the moral authority to do so.)
"While the president has the authority under the War Powers Act to respond when the U.S. is under attack or in imminent danger, such circumstances did not exist with regard to Syria," [Sen. Mike Lee of Utah] added. "Promoting regional stability, mitigating humanitarian catastrophe, and deterring the use of chemical weapons might be important foreign policy goals, but if they are to be pursued with military force, a president must first seek congressional authorization.”...
This is a troublesome sign, although hardly without precedent in the last 30 years.

Gowdy: Up to No Good, Again
Gowdy is notorious for a couple of things: his ever-changing hairstyle and his penchant for pulling punches. The hairstyle thing could be read a lot of ways (none good), but his pulled punches were ALWAYS pulled away from the Deep State. Gowdy never landed a blow there.
And so it comes to pass that Gowdy wants to 'hold a hearing' with the DoJ's inspector general as the guest for this little Court of Star Chamber.
This will give Gowdy (and all his friends like Sasse, Ryan, Little Marco, etc., etc., etc.) the opportunity to submarine the IG's findings, which should be very interesting and which should lead to multiple indictments, trials, and Graybar Hotel addresses.

"The Guy (Comey) Is Wacky"
That's Joe diGenova in an interview following the Comey spew on teevee. Like most Americans, I did not watch it--but I've seen the clips on the intertubes, and had this nagging little set of red flags every time I saw one.
diGenova put it succinctly, and he's right. Comey seems to be disconnected from reality--likely because he has not perfected cognitive dissonance as well as did Bill Clinton.
(By the way, Gowdy is brought up later, and looks more and more like just another Deep State plant. His hairdo should be the tell.)

"Education" in the Milwaukee Public Schools
NAEP figures came out.
The Milwaukee Public Schools' grade-schools were measured on the NAEP tests.
How bad was it?
Horrible. Awful. Terrible. Rotten. Or worse.....
In mathematics, the percentage of students 'above proficient' was 15% in 4th grade, 12% in 8th.
In reading, the percentage of students 'above proficient' was 15% in 4th, 15% in 8th.
In science, the percentage of students 'above proficient' was 12% in 4th, 6% in 8th. (Yes, 6%.)
Want a comparison? OK. Lets' go Statewide public schools!!!
(Same breakdowns, at or above "proficient"):
mathematics: 42%, 39%
reading: 35%, 39%
science: 41%, 40%
There is no Wisconsin-only score-sheet for private schools. So we'll use the national numbers for grade schools as above.
mathematics: 48%, 47%
reading: 49%, 57%
science: 48%, 43%
So nationally, PRIVATE schools delivered 300-600% better results than Milwaukee PUBLIC schools.
Sounds like more "choice" schools would be immoral, rotten, and terrible for the students.

Here, KittyKitty.....BOOM!
Some Mayor is not popular.
The city of Jefferson has come up with a solution that involves shooting cats to control the population.
There are multiple feral cat colonies in the central Iowa town, and the city claims shooting the animals is its only option....
Hmmm. AR-15? .22LR? 9mm H&K? .17 GAMO?
Inquiring minds want to know!!!

The Stupid Party Returns
Priebus, interviewed by a student newspaper.
...“I think post-Trump, the party returns to its traditional role and its traditional platform. It’s a Trump brand and he owns it and he has a way of protecting it,” Priebus said....
Well, there you have it. Save your money. Donate to your local gun retailer.

The Stupids: Broward County
In the family of The Stupids, Broward County emerges as a leader. That's because Broward County bought into the Obozo/Holder juvenile crime bullshit.
Broward County, Fla., school officials portray as a great success their Obama administration-inspired program offering counseling to students who break the law, instead of having them arrested or expelled....
...Broward County juvenile justice division records, federal studies of Broward school district safety and the district's own internal reporting show that years of “intensive" counseling didn’t just fail to reform repeat offender Cruz, who allegedly went on to shoot and kill 17 people at his high school. Records show such policies have failed to curtail other campus violence and its effects now on the rise in district schools — including fighting, weapons use, bullying and related suicides.
Meanwhile, murders, armed robberies and other violent felonies committed by children outside of schools have hit record levels, and some see a connection with what’s happening on school grounds....
Might be useful to determine the REAL reason that Milwaukee's Superintendent of Schools quit. After all, MPD remains under threat from the Dep't of Justice, which wants MPD to institute a Broward County-like program.
Ain't that special??

Clinton-Ordered Massacre 25th Anniversary
Actually, the anniversary was yesterday.
It was called Operation Trojan Horse, a raid by agents of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in search of what they said were illegal weapons being made by a religious sect outside Waco.
The gun battle that ensued left six members of the Branch Davidians — a breakaway Seventh Day Adventist sect — and four ATF agents dead and set the stage for a 51-day siege of a communal residence known as Mount Carmel. It would end on April 19, 1993, amid tanks and tear gas, in an inferno in which 76 people, including 21 children, perished....
If you've read the post below, you know that the Clinton Crime Family is capable of anything, including killing children. For all we know these 21 are just the tip of the iceberg.

How Lynch/Comey Quashed Clinton Investigation UPDATED!
You have to read the whole post; details matter. But here's the ugly-short takeaway stuff.
...[Erik] Prince claimed he had insider knowledge of the investigation that could help explain why FBI Director James Comey had to announce he was reopening the investigation into Clinton’s email server last week.
“Because of Weinergate and the sexting scandal, the NYPD started investigating it. Through a subpoena, through a warrant, they searched his laptop, and sure enough, found those 650,000 emails. They found way more stuff than just more information pertaining to the inappropriate sexting the guy was doing,” Prince claimed.
“They found State Department emails. They found a lot of other really damning criminal information, including money laundering, including the fact that Hillary went to this sex island with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Bill Clinton went there more than 20 times. Hillary Clinton went there at least six times,” he said.
“The amount of garbage that they found in these emails, of criminal activity by Hillary, by her immediate circle, and even by other Democratic members of Congress was so disgusting they gave it to the FBI, and they said, ‘We’re going to go public with this if you don’t reopen the investigation and you don’t do the right thing with timely indictments,’” Prince explained.
“I believe – I know, and this is from a very well-placed source of mine at 1PP, One Police Plaza in New York – the NYPD wanted to do a press conference announcing the warrants and the additional arrests they were making in this investigation, and they’ve gotten huge pushback, to the point of coercion, from the Justice Department, with the Justice Department threatening to charge someone that had been unrelated in the accidental heart attack death of Eric Garner almost two years ago. That’s the level of pushback the Obama Justice Department is doing against actually seeking justice in the email and other related criminal matters,” Prince said. (Link)...
Erik Prince's name has come up a few times recently. In each case, Prince was cast as a shadowy Bad Guy (by various not-R sources). Now you know why. Prince is being threatened, exactly as the NYPD was threatened.
Finally, this:
...I cannot help but be reminded of a post-election event where an FBI official from the same NY field office had her vehicle broken into and a laptop stolen which included “National Security information“. Everything was recovered, except the laptop....
It was not "stolen" of course. It was "disappeared" by one of Hillary's minions in FBI or DoJ. Rest assured, nobody will be searching the bottom of the East River for it.
UPDATE: Another reference to Obama's interference in the case can be found here.

Ugly, Ugly, Weather
Recognizing that people about 100 miles north of here are dealing with 12" - 20" of snow--OK, they get a little sympathy.
But it's ugly here, too. Freezing rain last night, which accumulated between lanes on the highways making passing the (ultra-slow grannies) ...ahhh.....exciting!!
When the freezing rain stopped, it became snow. You're talking super-dooper-snowball snow!! Snow that you could roll into a 6', 3-segment snowman in 20 minutes or less, except that your back couldn't take the load. It was so thick and unforgiving that a 20-mile trip on 2- and 3-lane highways took about 50 minutes this morning. Ugly.
The usual snow-to-rain conversion ratio is 1" snow would be 1/10th" rain (10 to 1). This stuff is probably 30% wet. If it gets cold, it will become like granite.
Fortunately, it will be gone by Wednesday or so. We think. Maybe.
And it could come back; in 1988 (??) we had a 4" pile of similar-weight snow that created a LOT of firewood from fully-leafed-out--and then broken--trees. That was in May.

Milwaukee Crime Stats
This is interesting, but not surprising.
According to the 2010 census, Milwaukee is 40 percent black, 37 percent white, and 17.3 percent Hispanic.
The 2016 Annual Report on “Homicides and Nonfatal Shootings in Milwaukee”
from the Milwaukee Homicide Review Commission states there were 139
homicides and 555 non-fatal shooting victims in the city in 2016.
Suspects
were not identified in all of these cases, but of those that were, the
commission found that 79 percent of homicide suspects in 2016 were
black, 11 percent were Hispanic, and 10 percent were white. For
non-fatal shootings, 88 percent of suspects were black, 6 percent were
white, and five percent were Hispanic....
So of course, the Usual Suspects declare that law-abiding whites should NOT own guns.
Facebook HQ Addition
Reported by the Babylon Bee.
In the midst of a scandal involving the unauthorized transfer of its users’ data for political purposes, Facebook proudly unveiled a brand new, giant Lidless Eye of Sauron atop the company’s Menlo Park headquarters.
The Eye of Sauron will be used to examine Facebook users’ every action, online and off.
The fiery Great Eye reportedly cost over seven trillion dollars and came with all the latest surveillance technology, including the ability to detect evil thoughts and motives as well as any negative emotions about Facebook or Mark Zuckerberg....
You can find another Eye of Sauron atop the ATT building in downtown Indy (or maybe Lexington.)

Brits Lied About Russki Spy Poisoning
False flag flying....
I suppose that a Russki agent could have gone down to the apothecary and purchased some BZ, of course.
Otherwise, as Vox asks: Why would the Brits lie about this?
...The substance used on Sergei Skripal was an agent called BZ, according to Swiss state Spiez lab, the Russian foreign minister said. The toxin was never produced in Russia, but was in service in the US, UK, and other NATO states.
Sergei Skripal, a former Russian double agent, and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with an incapacitating toxin known as 3-Quinuclidinyl benzilate or BZ, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, citing the results of the examination conducted by a Swiss chemical lab that worked with the samples that London handed over to the Organisation for the Prohibition of the Chemical Weapons (OPCW)....RT quoted at Vox Pop

Yes, Virginia, There IS Media Bias
Bloomberg is a reliably Lefty news source, so I read it every day. Gives you an idea of the "thought" process the Lefty media (yes, I repeat myself) uses.
Here's a great example.
General Motors Co. will fire as many as 1,500 workers at the end of June at the Ohio factory building the Chevrolet Cruze compact car, undercutting President Donald Trump’s bombast about bringing back auto jobs....
The snide little 7th-grader-level remark about Trump has nothing whatsoever to do with the Lordstown plant's layoffs. (And by the way, a layoff is not a "firing." Not with the UAW's contract it ain't.)
Here's the reality:
...GM’s plans for its Ohio factory are the result of American consumers snubbing cars in favor of crossovers. Cruze sales plunged 26 percent in the first three months of the year to less than 40,000 units and slipped 2.2 percent last year....
Trump has motivated the automotives to move jobs into the USA. It's not Trump's problem that nobody wants to purchase sedans these days. What Bloomberg spewed is--at best--half-truth.
End of today's Media Bias lesson.

Slimeball Central: Fitzgerald and Comey
We all know that Scooter Libby's prosecutor (Fitzgerald) withheld exculpatory evidence in obtaining a process-crime 'conviction' on Libby.
But here's something I didn't know:
...Mr. Fitzgerald was friends with James B. Comey, who was then the deputy attorney general who assigned him the investigation after the attorney general recused himself....
Connecting Weissman to this bunch would be a trifecta.
But then, what rubes and morons actually think there's such a thing as "justice" in the Department of Justice? That's a notion which should have been shitcanned at least 20 years ago.

Is Gorka's Moralizing Actually Moral?
Gorka moralized both on the Ingraham show and earlier on Hannity. I saw the Hannity offering and Gorka was near-whining while maintaining his "White-Knight-USA" position. It was tiresome listening.
The gist of his argument was not that the US should resolve every 'problem' in the world, nor even every instance of use of chemical weapons against civilians--but that the US must act on those instances "where we are able."
Since the US maintains a military presence in Europe and in SE Asia and is able to strike about 90% of the Earth's surface, Gorka's formula makes the US liable for a helluvalot of rescue activity, no?
Unfortunately, Just War Theory as currently iterated makes Gorka's moralizing ...ahhh....immoral. JWT demands that the US be attacked by Syria. One could--possibly--stretch JWT to cover the "US National Interest" being under attack, but Gorka did not make that case, much less a case based on current JWT.
Maybe instead of being a tiresome nag, Gorka could come up with moralizing that is actually moral. It would make for much more interesting TV.

Comey's Book
Heard one review last night--very late--wherein the two men talking about it referred to it as 'seemingly written by a junior-high school girl.'
Then Chris Wallace calls it "bitchy."
Well. Apparently the book's prose is all that, and more!

McCabe Leak Was Against Hillary (!!!)
The whole IG investigation of McCabe happened because he leaked info which dirtied Hillary's skirts--specifically, that there was an FBI investigation of the Clinton Family Foundation.
Huh.
And of course, he lied about that leak, so he was fired.
...Note that if this is true, we have Obama officials attempting to pressure FBI officials to drop an investigation into Obama's would-be successor, Hillary Clinton.
Yet I don't think the media will be talking about that.
It was this leak, and apparently only this leak, that roused the Deep State enough to get them to investigate McCabe for leaking.
The conclusions of the report is that McCabe was asked twice, not under oath, by the FBI if he had leaked to the WSJ about this or if he knew who had leaked to the WSJ about this. He claimed he did not leak and did not know who did, despite being in frequent communication with "Special Counsel" before and after her call to the WSJ making the leak, and asking her how it went and etc....
As Ace observes, shooting at The Queen of the Coven is dangerous, indeed.
Plenty more IG reports to follow, by the way. This is only Part One of at least three.....

Go, RoJo, GO!!!!
Ron Johnson is pressing forward on an inquiry about the FBI, the Department of Injustice, and the emails of Hildebeeste. (Watch your back, Ron. Clintoncide, and all that. Stay away from Ft. Marcy Park.)
...Johnson is seeking information on the FBI's probe into Clinton's use of a private email server while she was U.S. secretary of state....
LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP.
...Johnson is seeking information on the FBI's probe into Clinton's use of a private email server while she was U.S. secretary of state....
...In January 2017, the Justice Department inspector
general launched an investigation into the FBI's handling of the Clinton
email probe.
Johnson said the "whole purpose" of
his quest to gain more information on the probe is "to restore
confidence in the FBI and the Department of Justice."
He said he had a "great deal of confidence" with the majority of people who "toil in those agencies."
"But there is a taint, there is suspicions," he added....
Well, Ron, so long as there's one law for Hillary and another one for Joe Schlub, citizen, then there will be "suspicions." But you knew that.
LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP. LOCK HER UP.
"Discerning" Will Kill Humanae Vitae AND.....
Janet Smith IS one of the sharpest knives in the Catholic theological drawer. We've admired her work since she was at U of Dallas. Her commentary and teaching is direct and easily understood; no pettifogging for her!
And yes, she's betting that Amoris Laetitia will undermine and then demolish the teaching of Humanae Vitae.
But that's not all. The "discernment" crowd is philosophically identical to the "evolving Constitution" crowd which has been actively undermining the Rule of Law in the USA.
Anyhow....
...Famed Catholic author Janet Smith, speaking to a group gathered at The Catholic University of America (CUA), in Washington, DC on April 5, warned of new challenges to the Church’s teaching against contraception that will arise in coming years, centered around the concepts of conscience and discernment.
In particular, theologians who Smith identifies as “discerners” will focus not on the authority of conscience as it is traditionally understood, but on a “very different understanding of what the conscience is. This is what we very much have to catch.”
“In a general sense, the interpreters, the discerners of Amoris Laetitia say that the development in moral theology in Amoris Laetitia is pastoral, not doctrinal,” said Smith. This is key, because it frees them to say, “we’re not changing doctrine at all; we’re just changing how we apply doctrine. We’re not even applying doctrine. We’re just helping consciences discern.” ...
That "discernment" may well run contrary to the Natural Law; but of course, that's the objective.
...In essence, the discerners are pushing the idea that there are no absolute moral norms. For them, natural law, “does not include universal, immutable norms” but instead is dynamic, experiential, historical, and cultural.” Natural law is “gradually discovered, and could change if the culture changes.”...
If you've been paying attention over the last 50 years, you'll recognize that 'dynamic, experiential, historical, cultural' language--because it's been used by Federal and State jurists who are actively demolishing the US Constitution. They have found "rights" such as abortion and have un-found rights, such as bearing arms.
Don't just sit there and be surprised.
PRAY!

PRAY!
"Exclusive....Feminist Club"? FAR Worse....
You may recall that the Hildebeeste spoke before what the MSM called 'an exclusive, membership-only, feminist club' in New York City.
Well, it IS for women only, because it is a coven of witches. And now Hildebeeste is a member. Surprised?
Lena Dunham is--reportedly-- one of the founders, by the way.

Pompeo. A Real Man
Apparently Mike Pompeo was asked to visit with the Senate Foreign Relations committee pursuant to his nomination as SecState.
During that hearing, some pompous ass played to his queer voters.
Pompeo did what a Real Man does: told the Senator that nothing has changed. Fags should not be married to each other, period.
Heh.

Let's WAR!!!! on Russia, or Somebody!!!
It's not hard to find the warmongers.
It's hard to believe that they have any credibility or traction, especially with the President.
You want war? Buy an AR-15 and ammo and a ticket to Syria.
Learn how to fight.

Ryan Sees the War, Bails
We've been rather harsh on Speaker Ryan over the last few years, not least because Speaker Ryan claiming responsibility for things that did not happen like, e.g., de-funding Planned Parenthood Murder, Inc. While Ryan was helpful on the tax deal, he's been AWOL on the now-extremely-dangerous deficit/debt position of the US.
But Ryan is one of the Good Guys, regardless.
Why did he quit?
Yes, he DOES have children, and he married well--he doesn't need the income. And of course, he also doesn't need the crapola that he has to take with that job.
But I think there's more. I think Paul Ryan sees The War that's coming. At bottom, it is a culture war, and Ryan doesn't want to be part of it. The culture that existed in the USA until (say) 1960 has been disappearing in bits and bites--and now chunks--since the Warren Court's hegemony and it ain't going to come back without a fierce struggle.
Some say it may be a bloody struggle; others hope that it will be bruising, but not worse.
Politics are downstream from culture and culture--at root--is downstream from cult: what you worship. Ryan is a politician, not a cult guru, nor really a 'culture' warrior. Ryan knows what side of that war he is really on (it's the right side, folks), but the battlefield will not be in the House or Senate.
This war will certainly weaken the US and might lead to dramatic and not-very-pleasant geopolitical consequences.
I don't blame him.

Mueller Goes Full Jackwad
When even Al Derschowitz tells us that Mueller is a rabid partisan (hack), it's time for this to end.
Raiding the office of someone's attorney creates REAL attorney-client privilege problems. Beyond that, it's more and more clear that the "muh Russia, Russia, Russia, Russia!!!!" bullshit is just that: bullshit.
Mueller and his pack of howling hyenas must go away. Far away. Soon.

Lobbyist In Charge of "Cock Robin" Vos?
It appears that "Cock Robin" Vos is no longer in charge of the Assembly; rather, it is a lobbyist: John Gard.
Seems that John Gard gets a lot of his money from the Unions, so John Gard has a blood-feud with Andre Jacque, who rammed through a change in the Prevailing Wage law here in Wisconsin.
Gard, mightily cranked up, recruited a candidate to run against Jacque in Senate 1 (around Green Bay.) Then Gard got 5 other Ass members to endorse his recruit, a 24-year-old kid who inherited a business in the Valley.
(In another post, one Ass member refers to this kid as a 'seasoned and skillful' business leader. Really? The guy is TWENTY-FOUR. Of course, if John Gard tells you what to do, then you do it!!)
Jacque has ruffled a few other feathers because Jacque has principles and won't compromise. That's why he has the endorsement of Pro-Life Wisconsin.
Vos is becoming a greaseball, blocking Conservative initiatives. Maybe he should spend more time popping popcorn.

Lead in Milwaukee Pipes and MMSD
Want to know how the City of Milwaukee will pay for the $2 BILLION cost of replacing its lead pipes?
First, they'll try to bankrupt another paint manufacturer, having already done so to Mautz. But the target isn't stupid, so it's moving, and has prominently mentioned Milwaukee's lead service pipes as another cause of poisoning problems. Heh.
Well, then. How will Milwaukee pay for the replacements if Sherwin-Williams won't bend over?
Easy. It's the MMSD solution; find a (D) Legislature and Governor, and have them force Waukesha, Washington, Milwaukee and Ozaukee COUNTIES to pay for it. Remember that the City's property-tax haul does not cover the cost of the City's cop-shop and you'll know how desperate the finances really are in that s&^%hole.
And why Milwaukee has a very, very, serious interest in flipping the State Government.

Never Happy NeverTrumper Jay Weber
Weber whined this morning that Trump had only cut 21,000 Fed jobs since taking office. In contrast, Obozo added 600,000 Fed jobs--so Trump is just inadequate.
Gee.
Jay didn't mention that Paul Ryan FUNDED every one of Obozo's jobs AND all the jobs still remaining in the FedGov.
It's so hard to be a consistent conservative if it's all Trump's fault, ya'know.

Russia & Elections: the Shiny Object
Interesting observation from Ken Starr.
...former Whitewater Special Counsel Ken Starr stated that it appears as though Special Counsel Robert Mueller is investigating Russia’s “invasion of the United States political system,” and not Russian collusion....
Russia is the Shiny Object.
Red China is the major buyer of politicians. And since Red China prefers to buy (D) politicians such as Clinton and Biden (with a McConnell on the side), Mueller was instructed to go chase the Russians.

Fed Blackrobe Wrong (Surprise!!)
Some yotz with a black robe and a Federal salary ruled that the State of Massachusetts can ban the AR-15.
Because it is 'military grade.'
Funny. I thought the 2A specifically mentioned the military. You know, "militia" and all that.
Scalia's fuzzy opinion in Heller--which pretended to reconcile the 'militia' language with possession of arms--was written to get a majority to sign on to the opinion. The case was about handgun possession and had a huge 'sympathy factor' because it was about self-defense. If SCOTUS had ruled against self-defense, the 'rule of law' would have suffered another very serious blow--perhaps a fatal one.
So he hedged his bet, knowing full well that his blather about 'reconciliation' was just that, and figuring that SCOTUS will hear another case, sometime, on the AR's.
Well, that's going to happen. Maybe a new SCOTUS will rule that the AR may be banned.
Good luck with that.

Kimmel v. Hannity: Good!
The Kimmel v. Hannity thing is just like the Pelosi v. Trump thing, or Hogg v. Normies.
Please, please, please, Jimmy: keep going!! Normies think VERY highly of pervs like you, especially when pervs like you are doing somebody's daughter.

TN Illegals-Raid: Employers Also Criminals
Maybe this is what the Chamber of Commerce had in mind for those 'guest workers'??
...In a federal affidavit, IRS Special Agent Nicholas Worsham said the family-run plant is under criminal investigation for allegedly evading taxes, filing false tax returns and hiring immigrants in the country illegally.
He alleged the facility failed to report $8.4 million in wages and to pay at least $2.5 million in payroll taxes for dozens of undocumented workers.
Federal agents began investigating the company months ago after Citizens Bank employees noticed that Southeastern Provision was withdrawing large sums of cash every week - more than $25 million since 2008. Worsham said the plant hired undocumented workers who were paid in cash and subject to harsh conditions, including long hours without overtime and exposure to bleach and other chemicals without protective eyewear...
Ah, yes. "Creative Destruction" at its finest.

Bismarck, Ratzinger, and Pp Francis
Just for clarification, this from the English fellow:
...Regular readers will recall my repetitious quotation from the writings of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger: " ... the First Vatican Council had in no way defined the pope as an absolute monarch. On the contrary, it presented him as the guarantor of obedience to the revealed Word. The pope's authority is bound to the Tradition of faith ... The authority of the pope is not unlimited; it is at the service of Sacred Tradition."
Although not thus footnoted by its author, this phraseology is clearly based upon a statement by the German bishops after Bismarck had attacked the Definition of Papal Infallibility agreed at Vatican I. Bismarck had alleged that it made the pope "an absolute monarch". The German bishops replied that Papal Infallibility, being an instance of the Infallibility of the Church, is bound to the doctrine contained in Holy Scripture and in Tradition and definitions already promulgated by the Church's Magisterium. The pope, they explained, is bound (obstrictus) to those things which Christ set in place in His Church. He cannot change the constitution given by the Church's Divine Founder, and the constitution of the Church is founded in all essential things in the divine arrangement (ordinatione) and is free (immunis) from every arbitrary human arrangement. ...
Got that? Good. Keep it.

Still Have a Factory in Mexico?
It will be Prime Schadenfreude to watch GM, Ford, and Chrysler lose their "cheap labor" factories.
...At this point it’s virtually guaranteed that Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador will win the election – I would VERY strongly bet on that outcome (likelihood 85%). That puts a Hugo Chavez type ideologue, and the attached economic policies, at our southern border. [Pro-Tip: prepare your business affairs accordingly now, and avoid the chaos later]...
Think those guys--and the gal--are smart enough?

Get OVER It, Charlie-Hillary
Sykes is still crying about Trump and Trump voters. So I guess that makes Charlie another Hillary, eh?
Like a number of other Glamour Pundits who are (just coincidentally) former Lefties, Charlie ignores the big picture of Trump's regime so he can nitter-natter around the ankles.
The Big Picture?
Yah. That's "AMERICA (and the AMERICAN CITIZENS) FIRST". (There was another time when that slogan was bandied about--by John F. Kennedy).
That 'splains the wall, the whacking of China, the withdrawal of troops from eternal-harm's-way in the Middle East, and dismantling all of the Obozo/Clinton/Bush/Bush/Nixon crapola called "EPA" and ObozoCare.
Maybe Charlie prefers Obama, like Jay Weber seems to.
Me? I'm pleasantly surprised, but still sending money to Cruz.

PREACH IT, Brother!!!
Black citizen of Greensboro slams the crap out of gun-grabbers.
This guy knows how to speak, folks. Trump should have a spot for him someplace.

"Deep State" = Military-Industrial Complex
Trump is right: the US's involvement in Syria should end very soon. "Nation-building" exercises are useless in the long run and Potemkin-esque in the short one.
The opposition to Trump is labeled "the Deep State."
But if you use the rule "FOLLOW THE MONEY", you will understand that the "Deep State" is actually what Eisenhower warned against: the Military-Industrial complex.
Look--whether or not you believe that the Iraq war was a good thing--it sure as Hell provided a great deal of money to The Complex, no? CIA, Lockheed, Loral, the guns-and-ammo manufacturers....
Walking away from Syria will cut off a big chunk of that cashflow.
This is not hard. It is not complicated. Follow the money.

Dear Rush: About Planned Perversion.....
Rush Limbaugh asked 'why Planned Parenthood is pushing perversion education in grade schools.'
Here's the short response:
Planned Perversion opposes all that stuff in the Declaration about "nature and nature's God." It's that simple.
That's really too short, but it's accurate.
Here's the short response:
Best "short answer" to your question as to 'why Planned Parenthood
educates chilluns in perversion' is this: Planned Parenthood has
ALWAYS educated/advocated perversion. They merely have changed the
colors of the painting.
Artificial
contraception is a perversion whether we like it or not, and it's been
Planned Perversion's foundation since Sanger. She painted that pig with
"eugenics", which is a form of playing God. When that line proved
repulsive (thank you, Hitler), Planned Perversion went to V 2.0: "Love
is sex is love is sex is love.....and if there are babies, kill 'em!!!"
That, too, is losing traction among the young., so now comes V 2.1:
"Perverts R Us!!"
That's really too short, but it's accurate.

Hey, RoJo (and Po' Jay Weber): US Will Win on Tariffs
Sen. RoJo, famous for his promise to repeal and replace ObamaCare, is also firmly in the "free trade" camp. For an accountant, he doesn't know too much about economics.
Jay Weber is a product of a School of Education. That will tell you what HE knows about economics--which is whatever the Free Traders TELL Jay to know.
There are people, however, who actually make sense on the topic.
Let's settle the ".......but PRICES are BETTER!!!" bullshit first.
...Pretend NAFTA reduced prices in your town by 5 percent, but wages also declined by 5 percent because of offshoring. Now what? An economist could truthfully say that NAFTA benefited American consumers by reducing prices—but that truth is also a lie, since NAFTA reduced wages by the same amount. In the end, NAFTA had no effect on prices in real terms. Bill Clinton was wrong. NAFTA was a sham....
If it were only 5%!!!
....In 2011, an economist at Princeton University found that the average wage cut for those American workers displaced by offshoring was 17.5 percent—and that does not include the millions of people who dropped out of the labor force altogether. Further, the job loss caused by globalization has caused American wages to stagnate. According to data from Pew Research, the median hourly wage in 1973 was $22.07 (in 2014 purchasing power), whereas the median hourly wage in 2014 was just $20.74. Essentially, the median American is economically worse off than he was nearly 50 years ago (technological improvements aside).
The American dream is dying, and free trade is to blame.
As to the CRISIS of the PORK PRODUCERS!!!! (Bring ice water for Jay here....)
...China is targeting American pork and soybean producers with retaliatory tariffs. Let’s hope we do get a trade war—it may be the only way to force Congress to take Chinese neomercantilism seriously....
...To begin with, raw commodities like soybeans and pork are fungible. That is, American pork is indistinguishable from Canadian or Brazilian pork. As such, these retaliatory tariffs would have no effect on American pork producers: the Chinese will simply buy more Canadian and Brazilian pork, and America will sell more pork to Canada and Brazil—we will “fill in the gaps.” Unsurprisingly, America’s hog farmers realize this, and most aren’t concerned....
Well, except the hog farmers who want more Gummint subsidies, of course.
Jay will explain how, since Trump has caused the DJIA to fall, that Jay really wants Obama back in the White House.
