Wiggy, in his measured tones, rips the face off Kevin Kennedy and his enabler, some likely-senile ex-blackrobe named Nichols. (I ascribe potential senility to the fellow because it's a lot kinder than calling him a vindictive H8R and legal ignoramus.)
The special delight is in the last graf of Wiggy's essay.
By the way, Joe McCarthy was a US Senator, not a member of the House.

The SJW's Techniques
When dealing with a Social Justice Warrior, one must be prepared for their tactics. Vox, in a short and sweet passage, itemizes them:
Threats, point-and-shriek, playing the victim, false accusations, and the inevitable appeal to the amenable authority.
So happens that a friend of mine who works in a retail store had an experience which fits that narrative to a "T". The "aggrieved" little wench lied about the incident, assigned the incident to "racism", gave herself "victim" status, threatened the retail store ('I'll never shop there again....') and of course, sent this pack of crap to the store's management.
To no avail, by the way. My friend's track record with the store and its customers is impeccable and the store prays that the SJW's threat to 'never shop there again' is a promise that will be kept.

Trump Goes Idiot, Rubio Remains Same
Ace (and Krikorian) make The Donald into a blustering buffoon, by quoting The Donald's very own website.
Rubio remains fanatical aboutblowing Zuckerberg.
Methinks The Donald's balloon is deflating.
We should mention that Matloff has the same take on these two charlatans.

Sensenbrenner's Failure Theatre
Ol' Jimbo will town-hall, loudly, his vote against the Boehner/McConnell/Obozo Betrayal Budget.
What he will NOT say is that he voted FOR bringing it to a vote. Ol' Jimbo knew that it would pass--even Ryan, who called the process 'stinky', voted for the damn thing.
But Ol' Jim could have voted NOT to bring it to a vote, like the Real Conservatives in the House.
So Ol' Jim's Campaign Conservatism is safe.
Suckers!!

Huckabee's Excellent Analogy
You may or may not like Mike Huckabee's politics, but he fashioned an excellent analogy last night.
..."If you saw that blimp that got cut loose from Maryland today, it’s a perfect example of government," former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said at the Wednesday night debate hosted by CNBC.
"I mean, what we had was something the government made — basically a bag of gas — that cut loose, destroyed everything in its path, left thousands of people powerless, but they couldn’t get rid of it because we had too much money invested in it, so we had to keep it.
"That is our government today. We saw it in the blimp. That's exactly what we saw."...
One mother gasbag with at least 535 babies who occupy Congress, Mike.

Another USCC Embarrassment
The president of the United States Catholic Conference, Abp. Kurtz, has called for "complete de-carbonizing" of energy sources worldwide by 2050.
Let's take that a step further!!! Paper is made from trees. Money and checks are made of paper. So let's "de-carbonize" the USCC's fundraising requests, eh?

Ryan: 'GOP Lost Its Vision.' He Ought to Know
Ryan, who has done horrific damage to current and future US taxpayers with his budget-busting deals in the last few years, who has shrugged off the homosex-"marriage" issue, and who has done his best to import lots of low-wage competitors for US workers both professional and non-professional, tells us that the (R) Party has "lost its vision."
Well, yah, Paul. At one time the Republicans were fiscally responsible, understood Nature, and were more concerned about US citizens than about lining their pockets with Big Capital's money.
Oh, and actual Conservatives shunned Ayn Rand.
Lost vision, indeed, Paul.

The Donald Caves on Immigration
The Donald is now backing off on immigration, and he's backing off by a lot.
Forget about his "wall" thing, which was a bit absurd in the first place. On the far more significant question about importing foreigners as slave-laborers in high-tech, he has started to crumble like a stale cookie.
Or maybe the Colorado cookies kinda affected his thinking?

Go Ahead, Shoot the Drone. It's Legal
The right ending for the Kentucky story about the leering drone.
Someone decided to peep at a teenaged girl sunbathing in her own, fenced, back yard. A modern-day Peeping Tom--with his drone--decided to take a long look.
Girl's daddy popped the drone with a load of birdshot. Peeping Tom bitched and the Daddy was cited.
The judge threw the case out of court. Daddy was well within his rights.
Birdshot only, please!! No 00, which can cause trouble on the way back down.

Ryan's Big Lie
Paul Ryan (who earns only a 55% rating at RedState) will vote for the s*&^sandwich that YOU will be forced to eat--the one served up by the usually-inebriated outgoing slimeball, Boehner.
So Ryan, who only yesterday said that the process of creating it "stinks," will vote for it. So he's lying in effect, if not in text. (That's something that Bill and Hill perfected, too.)
Obozo-approved!! Two full years of cap-busting spending!! More Federal debt than anyone could possibly imagine!! Slimy side-deals on ObozoCare!!
And "Mr. Fiscal Wizard" votes for it.
OK, Paul.
By all means, read Andy McCarthy's column which shows that Ryan (et. al.) are flat-out liars, too.
Some of us are old enough to remember the 2014 elections. (And the promises made by RoJo who has evidently been blackmailed into squishiness.) When it comes to 2016?

Boehner's Last Fraud
The 'budget' bill that Boehner, Obozo, and McConnell will ram up the ass of the taxpayers through Congress next week is another fraud, of course.
The spending increases will happen in the next 2 years. The spending DEcreases will happen in 2021 or later, if ever. And you can bet that everything after "happen" in the last sentence is already inoperative.
It also moves payroll tax (Soc Sec) revenues into the disability fund which will go broke next year unless this change happens. Of course, that will ensure that the SocSec fund will go broke faster. But who cares? No one in Boehner/McConnell/Obozo-land.
And yes, Paul Ryan will vote against this. That's the plan; the bill will pass regardless.
Suckers.

Clinton Fraud, Establishment Ennui, and Revolution of Revulsion
It's not so much that the Clinton Foundation is a massive Clinton-Enrichment operation wearing a thin, tattered veil of "charity." We expect as much from those two and their offspring.
It's that absolutely no one in Washington will bother to do anything about it. The infamous pile of s&^t named Lois Lerner has already taken a pass on auditing this "non-profit." And the Insider Boyzzz of whatever party will most likely do the same.
This sort of crap is fueling the fire now burning down the (R) Party and is moving centrist Democrat rank-and-file to--of all people--The Donald. In a somewhat perverse manner, this is the revolution born of revulsion.

The "Make Your Gummint Masters SAFE" Act
Ted Cruz was not crying wolf when he said that the US is 'one Justice away' from losing the Second Amendment.*
On Monday, the Court of Appeals for the Second U.S. Circuit issued a long awaited decision on the constitutionality of the most drastic gun control law in U.S. history, the New York SAFE Act of 2013. The Second Circuit ruled that nearly all of the law does not violate the Second Amendment.
So? Well, read the rest!!
The SAFE Act is a complete ban on the sale or transfer of all military-style semi-automatic rifles manufactured within the past several decades. It is a total ban on the AR-15, AK-47, M-14/M-1a, HK G3, Steyr AUG, and many other civilian copies of military firearms. ... the final version of the law allowed existing owners to keep their rifles as long as they registered them with the State. Upon the death of the owner, the rifle will be confiscated; it cannot be transferred to an heir within New York State.
The SAFE Act also enacted a complete ban on the possession of all firearm magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds. The law contains no "grandfather" provision for previously legal items.
Beyond that, the SAFE Act banned all private transfers of firearms, except among spouses, parents, and children; it created an ammunition purchase background check and ammunition purchase registry; it banned the private sale of ammunition except from a licensed dealer; and it created a secret reporting requirement under which "mental health professionals" must report anyone suspected of being a "danger" to the State Police for mandatory gun confiscation.
This will get to SCOTUS, of course; and Cuomo expects to win there, too; he's gambling that Kennedy will create another 'live your dream' interpretation favoring the law. And then, any (D)-governed State will have the license to do exactly the same thing.
Short lesson: buy your AR's now, along with as much ammo as you can stuff into a semi-trailer.
*Cruz was strategically, but not tactically, correct. Both CT and NY gun-owners have simply ignored or flouted gun-restriction laws (to the tune of about 90+%). While some (D)-controlled States are populated by pansies, the 2A will remain in force, as written, "....shall not infringe", whether our Gummint Masters like it or not.
Come and get them, Mario!!

TWO Years of More Federal Spend-and-Debt?
Seems that the Establishment Boyzzz will shove it up ours at least one more time.
“Senior White House officials and congressional leaders are nearing a deal to raise the debt limit and set the federal budget for the next two years, say sources familiar with the talks,” ---Breitbart quoting The Hill
How're you fixed for Vaseline?
At the rate these guys kick cans, there must be some soccer team that needs their talent. If we beg, will that team take these people OUT of Congress?
Please?

Shoving the Overton Window Leftward: The Progressives and The Donald
Mirengoff has part of it. The part he's not addressing is very important: religion.
The rise of The Donald happens to be another result of the Left/Progressive anti-religion Long March, which is why it is not likely that The Donald will be elected, or even nominated.
...Some conservatives perceive that the left is bent on radically transforming American values, institutions, and ways of living, and will use almost any tactic, regardless of its legality, to accomplish the transformation.
Yup. That's been ongoing since--at the very least--the LBJ regime, although some would, with justification, trace it back to the Progressive bunch of the early 1900's. I think that while the Progressives gained more than a foothold at that time, the rotten fruit didn't show up until the '60's. To me, the (D) Convention of 1968 serves as the most visible landmark of the great divide. It resulted, eventually, in Ron Reagan, who was elected by disaffected old-school Democrats.
In fact, the Progressives were always fundamentally anti-religious, specifically, "anti-" the Judaeo-Christian foundation of the West. Incidentally, they wound up in opposition to every other major religion's tenets, but for different reasons. They were able to overcome religion through spending (now near unto totally dissipating) the wealth of the West and through playing to hedonism.
The short-hand for that is "sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll," and the current most visible manifestations are Obama, Hillary, and The Donald.
We don't have to spend too much time with the whys-and-wherefores of Obozo and HRC's inclusion in the bunch, but The Donald deserves a bit of analysis.
The Donald, when you come right down to it, is another in a long line of slightly rightist Progressives (Think GWB, e.g.). The clues are not subtle. His entire opening gambit was "I'm rich!!! I'm RICH!!!!" He suddenly became pro-life, and suddenly became 'religious' (or at least, he spent some time with Protestant preachers.) His disdain for property rights is clear. In general, he's the "rock'n'roll" guy with a strong dose of sex on the side. While it's not clear that he is as full-bore anti-religion as are Obozo and Hillary, he's certainly not guided by any deep-seated Judaeo-Christian values.
In the end, I think that support for The Donald will die off as the battle for The West increases in importance. Much as some won't like it, Ted Cruz is going to be the beneficiary here, for almost all the right reasons.

Cop-Killing? Not So Much
Ticker ran the numbers.
The chart begins at A.D. 1900. Note well that this chart is "ALL CAUSES" which includes on-duty traffic accidents, not just targeted/direct murders.
And if you think that the Prohibition-era numbers were bad, just wait until the Machine tries to outlaw guns.

Obozo to Shut Down the Military
The commander-in-chief of US armed forces will shut down the US military.
President Barack Obama vetoed a sweeping $612 billion defense policy bill Thursday in a rebuke to congressional Republicans, and insisted they send him a better version that doesn't tie his hands on some of his top priorities....
"Top priorities" means closing Gitmo, of course. The rest of his blather is irrelevant.

When You Lose Mother Jones...
Judith Faulkner's crony-"capitalist" Epic Systems has lost the support of Mother Jones.
...even left-wing Mother Jones magazine reports this week that “instead of ushering in a new age of secure and easily accessible medical files, Epic has helped create a fragmented system that leaves doctors unable to trade information across practices or hospitals. That hurts patients who can’t be assured that their records — drug allergies, test results, X-rays — will be available to the doctors who need to see them. This is especially important for patients with lengthy and complicated health histories.”...
There's a large and growing cottage industry in Madistan consisting of ex-Epic employees who get top consulting dollars to fix the problems Epic causes.
So there's that, I guess.
Of course, those consulting dollars are charged, ultimately, to people who pay medical bills--and the taxpayers.

Good Question!!
Is there any doubt about the answer here?
...She didn’t “misspeak.” She didn’t make an honest mistake. She flouted the laws of this nation as regards national security and classified information–indisputably, with no margin for error or interpretation. She lied to the American people to manipulate an election–for partisan political purposes, as her supporters are so fond of complaining about. And she’s laughing up her sleeve at you right now, because she knows she still has a better than even-money chance at being president despite her high crimes and misdemeanors.
So just what, if anything, are you and the rest of the GOP clown act going to do about all that? I suspect we all already know the answer to that, but the question still must be asked....
Yah, go ahead, ask.
If you want the right answer, elect Cruz and hope he appoints Mark Levin as A.G. Otherwise, she'll get her pension, offshore tax-haven moneys, and free healthcare for life.

THE Takedown of "Social Justice"
While I have Feser's blog on my favorites list, I don't read him enough. Thus, Vox picked up this column in which Feser demolishes the Social Justice flapjaw and defends the (Catholic) cardinal virtues instead.
...Let’s consider the fate of the cardinal virtues in a modern democratic society. The words “wisdom,” “courage,” “moderation,” and “justice” are certainly not absent in such societies. To some extent the content of the traditional virtues is even respected -- democratic citizens will approve of the courage they read about in military history or see portrayed in movies like Saving Private Ryan, will commend moderation where overindulgence might affect bodily health, and so forth.
But much more prominent than the cardinal virtues -- and to a large extent coloring the conception democratic man has of the content of the cardinal virtues -- are certain other character traits, such as open-mindedness, empathy, tolerance, and fairness. The list will be familiar, since the language of these “virtues” permeates contemporary pop culture and politics, and it can be said to constitute a kind of counterpoint to the traditional cardinal virtues. And in each case the counter-virtue entails a turn of just the sort one might expect given Plato’s analysis of democracy -- from the objective to the subjective, from a focus on the way things actually are to a focus on the way one believes or desires them to be....
And Feser proceeds to show exactly how "social justice" is entirely deficient v. the real virtues.
I doubt that the "social justice" Catholic Bishops will suddenly realize that the Catholic cardinal virtues are what they should be preaching about. We've often mentioned that "social justice" is an artificial construct which is un-achievable, largely because "social justice" cannot be defined.
Feser demonstrates that fact. Read it!

Screwing American STEM Graduates
As usual, the ObozoFeds finds a way to screw American STEM (science, math, engineering, technology) graduates at the behest of the Chamber of Commerce.
(You thought the Chamber was an extension of the (R) Party? Think again, pilgrim.)
ObozoFeds will now classify foreigners who HAVE graduated as "students."
...in adjusting how the foreign students are categorized as employees, they get out of paying payroll taxes used to help fund programs like Social Security and Medicare.
Currently, the program urges companies to hire STEM students for a year. CIS said firms are paid up to $10,000 to participate. The new proposal, said CIS, is to add on another year and $2,000 in bonuses....
The Chamber will, of course, throw millions of dollars at (R) candidates who will perpetuate this screwing. That will make college loans into one massive pile of defaults and will also make American kids much, much less interested in obtaining an STEM degree.
Just perfect.

...in adjusting how the foreign students are categorized as employees, they get out of paying payroll taxes used to help fund programs like Social Security and Medicare.
The Republican Dope-Smokers
Lots of Republicans--including RoJo and Ryan--have floated ObozoCare replacement plans. In sum, all of them look kinda like this:
...“a Republican alternative to Obamacare will 1) cover nearly as many people, 2) not need a mandate to cover (nearly) everyone, 3) cost less, and 4) provide better coverage in many cases, particularly for the poor”...
Really?
This is the result of 'dope-smoking'; the only thing missing is the Cheetohs. It is a lot of "hope" and not much "change," at best. It buys the premise of ObozoCare that Gummint is responsible for healthcare, and also buys the premise that Gummint can do it better. The first remains un-Constitutional on its face; the second....well....what about the $Multi-Bn. website??
Why bother with these people at all?

The Democrats' Iranian "Dark Money"
The bedwetter Democrat screaming machines carry on, and on, and on, about "dark money" given to (R) candidates.
They somehow fail to mention "dark money" given to Democrats. But there is no "dark money"; it's all reported, of course. And the reports on Democrat "dark money" name Iranian activists..
LOTS of Iranian activity. MILLIONS of Iranian-activity-related campaign dollars.
...In 2008, Nemazee served as one of Hillary Clinton’s national fundraising chairmen when she was running against Barack Obama in the Democrat primary.
Nemazee was eventually credited by the Obama campaign with helping raise $500,000, following Clinton’s defeat in the primary. He donated an additional $50,000 to Obama’s inauguration committee.
Also in 2008, Nemazee donated $9,200 to Biden for President Inc.
In 2007, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was the featured guest speaker at IAPAC’s annual New York City reception.
In 2006, Senator Chuck Schumer asked Nemazee to serve as finance chairman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Nemazee raised $119 million, helping to retake the Senate for Democrats and installing Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader.
In 2004, Nemazee raised $500,000 for Democrat nominee (and current Secretary of State) John Kerry. Kerry, of course, was the lynchpin in securing the Iranian nuclear deal.
In 2000, Nemazee donated $50,000 to the Gore-Lieberman Recount Committee....
And yes, George Soros was also involved.

Missing Something From St. Paul?
Yes, indeed, St. Paul has been censored by the new Lectionary's editors.
This is what's been eliminated from the readings of last week:
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. 29 They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
32 Though they know God’s decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them but also approve those who practice them.
Hmmm. Not only did St Paul clearly condemn practicing queers--he also nailed down the rest of their personalities.
Simply un-PC, written by an old dead white guy (Jew, actually.) Delenda est.

UW-M Is Safe!! Please: No Guns!!
No, folks, I didn't write that. Jessica McBride did. Unfortunately, Ms. McBride assembles no worthwhile arguments for her position.
(Let's ignore the language of the Second Amendment, especially that part about "....SHALL NOT infringe..." and go to her own discussion of the case.)
If we're going to have the "guns on campus debate" – and due to warring pieces of legislation, we must – let's at least argue the issue using accurate information. And according to that information, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus, if it were a city – and it sort of is one, like Vatican City is within Rome – would be one of the safest around.
Comparing Vatican City to UW-M is to prejudice the concept a bit, no? But that's what propagandists do.
...when you look at crime statistics, the UWM campus emerges as a violent crime-free island within a city plagued by crime despite UWM's large population (more than 25,000 students, several thousand staff).

...when you look at crime statistics, the UWM campus emerges as a violent crime-free island within a city plagued by crime despite UWM's large population (more than 25,000 students, several thousand staff).
So that's where they want to inject a bunch of guns?...
Actually, no. The State law will not "inject" a "bunch of guns." The State will allow duly qualified and licensed gun-owners to carry them (concealed) on the UWM campus. Not the same thing, Jessica; not even close.
...Legislators should instead take that new surplus and give campuses,
including UWM, more money for safety measures, like funding more BOSS
vans that ferry students around,...
'Scuse me, but that's MY money, not yours, to spend. And UWM faculty has already made a very solid case that Administration payroll is ridiculously out-sized. How about a reduction in instructor-pay instead?
But Jessica now shows her real fear:
...instead of allowing the arming of a bunch of impulsive undergrads in campus buildings....
Since Jessica makes this point a couple of times, it's clear that she 1) thinks UWM students are a bunch of violence-prone thugs and 2) thinks that violence could play out in the classroom at any time. She knows her students better than anyone, I suppose, but that makes us wonder about the admissions policies at UWM, no?
...The proposal [to allow carry] was more predicated on reports of supposedly
rising crime around the UWM campus, Kremer [an author of the bill] said, than it was on mass
shootings in other states (not sure why that means we need guns on
campus in Eau Claire). In fairness, Kremer made it clear he was not only
talking about crime ON campus, but news accounts said he did say
gunless students would be "vulnerable targets" on campus too, and he
expressly discussed how the bill would allow them to have guns in dorms.
He's also talking about the dangers students face when they
walk TO campus "disarmed" through close neighborhoods. Legally, they
can walk to campus armed now if they obtain a concealed carry permit,
but they can't carry the weapon into a campus building. Thus, he's
arguing that they'd have nowhere to put their guns once they reached the
campus boundaries, so it's essential to let them carry them inside.
Ms McBride has a real hodge-podge of silliness hare beginning with her reference to Eau Claire as a city and campus so pristine that even the driven snow looks dark in comparison. Where was Umpqua Community College again? Oh, yah, in Roseburg, OR., a town so small that crime-stats for the last 20 years fill one 8.5X11 sheet of paper.
But the neighborhood immediately west of UWM is not Roseburg, is it, Jessica? You want to make the case that 'only a little' violent crime is......well.......acceptable. (But not in YOUR classroom. We get it, Jessica.)
After Ms. McBride embeds a bunch of crime-report graphs in her article, she goes back to her principal fear: the students themselves!!
...It seems risky to inject a lot of guns into what can at
times be a complex, confrontational campus environment that is packed
with concentrations of impulsive, sometimes immature, sometimes
intoxicated young people, some of whom have severe mental health issues.
Every instructor has had to deal with angry, mentally ill
students. Often, students with mental health issues succeed. However, I
don't want to sit in my next campus meeting with an angry, mentally ill
student across from me with a gun. I'd be more worried about the
impulsive stuff (including suicide) than the planned out stuff....
Offhand, I'd counsel Jessica to find another job, right now. Apparently she's surrounded by violent nut-jobs who are also intoxicated and angry. Really. Just ask her!!
See, Jessica has another problem: she will not carry for her own self-defense. That's admirable or utterly foolish, y.m.m.v.. Jessica makes her own choice for her own reasons. Now she wants to impose her choice on all the other 25,000++ people on that campus.
Seems kinda, I dunno, typical Lefty to me.

Paul Ryan's Family: An "Idea"?
In the world of Paul Ryan, America is 'an idea.' Slightly more fastidious people would use the term 'country,' but the problem with 'countries' is that they have 'borders.' To Rep. Ryan, 'borders' are soooooo 20th-Century, ya'know.
Rep. Ryan seems to have an understanding of the term 'subsidiarity,' one of the principles on which this"idea" country was founded. For countries, subsidiarity requires "borders," without which such claptrap as 'laws and constitutions' are irrelevant.
But subsidiarity begins in other social arrangements. They are called "families." Families join other families to create towns, cities, counties, and States, and in the US, those States joined to create the country. Subsidiarity was reflected in the Bill of Rights, particularly the 9th and 10th Amendments. (It still is, if anyone actually cared about the BofR.)
The term 'subsidiarity' refers to a theory of governance whereby the smallest possible unit of gummint resolves a given problem. So, for example, if a neighbor's dog is an all-night barking machine, one goes to the dog-owner to ask for a correction. If that fails, one calls either other neighbors OR the local cop-shop for assistance, not the State Police or the US Department of Justice.
Anyhooooo...
We know that Rep. Ryan thinks that his family is greater than 'an idea;' to him, it is an institution which deserves both preservation and protection His house does have doors with locks, after all, and those doors and locks are actually "borders.". But we also know that Rep. Ryan thinks that the US should allow swarms of people free access to the country, effectively erasing the country's borders.
Paul has a problem here: he cannot hold 1) that his family should be somehow 'inviolable' AND 2) that the USA should not have borders. That is (in the words of the immortal Spock) not logical.
So, Paul: after you remove the locks from your doors and allow the first 500 random strangers full access to your 'family quarters,' we'll believe you when you intone your flapjaw about the US being 'an idea.' Until then, Paul, you're an intellectual fraud. (Or worse, as Paul Kengor points out in this essay.)

Tricky Dick McConnell
One expects no better from McConnell than an homage to Tricky Dick.
And you're going to get one!!
...Under the potential Senate Republican plan, Congress would merely retain the right to “disapprove” of the President’s action to lift the nation’s debt limit. But disapproving the action would require a hard-to-reach two-thirds vote of both chambers of Congress.
Political observers may recognize this move. It is similar to the Corker-Cardin legislation that allowed Obama to agree to the nuclear deal with Iran. The Corker legislation simply allowed Congress to disapprove the action, albeit with a vote threshold that was almost impossible to attain. It conveniently allowed the Iran deal to come into force while enabling Republicans to vote against the treaty in everything but name.
Adopting the Corker framework for the debt ceiling does two things important to Sen. McConnell. It would allow the nation’s debt ceiling to increase, empowering the Treasury Department to continue borrowing funds. It would also allow most Republicans to cast symbolic votes against lifting the debt ceiling. They could then campaign saying they were against raising the debt ceiling in the upcoming elections next Fall....
Soon we'll hear the whining from RoJo about 'only controlling 1/3rd of the Government.' Poor baby.

Mr. TARP Doesn't LIke Ted Cruz
Well, well, well. GWBush, a/k/a Mr. TARP, Mr. Child/Behind, and Mr. SpendMoreSpendMore, has apparently slammed the hell out of Ted Cruz at some fundraiser for his brother, Mr. Illegal Immigrant.
Stupid is as stupid does. (Maybe all those (D) twerps had something there.)
George, your mama's calling. Go home. Your days are over.

Guess What Else WI Manufacturers & Commerce Loves?
The US Chamber of Commerce is the parent of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce, already notorious here for its strident defense of baby chop-shop parts sales.
Bloodsuckers doesn't quite describe them adequately.
Oh--there's more!!
...A top official at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said Thursday that the fight against Obamacare is largely over and that critics' energies were better spent fixing specific problems caused by the landmark healthcare legislation.
"There is a growing realization that repeal won't happen," Randy Johnson, the chamber's senior vice president of labor, immigration and employee benefits, told reporters during a Thursday press conference....
Don't be surprised. First off, the West Coast high-tech gang of thieves has been agitating for national health-care since the 1980's, and Detroit (no longer "big" 3) have been on the same bandwagon for almost as long.
But that clears up the mystery of RoJo's sudden departure from the anti-ObozoCare scene, doesn't it? His paymaster said Sit Down and Shut Up, Ron!!
And behold! A most docile RoJo betrays the entire 56% who voted him in.
Something tells me that RoJo will have a much smaller group of voters this time around. After all, McConnell already showed us that he doesn't heed (R) Senators to curl up in his fetal position. He can do that with far fewer, eh?
...Unfortunately, a Republican Party that continues to make the corrupt agenda of the Chamber of Commerce its own is destined to be pummeled once Obama leaves office and can no longer be used to drive conservative turnout. A Republican Party that rips off the taxpayers, ignores its own constituents and leaves the border open to please an organization that is okay with decimating the entire country as long as it makes a few bucks in the process is a Republican Party that deserves to be defeated....
Hard and fast.

Ryan Rumors, Again? Here's Why NOT Ryan
Local CBS affiliate is running rumors that Ryan will take the Speaker job.
Let's look again at Ryan's fiscal record which includes the current spending:
..The problem with the debt ceiling fight is that by the time we get around to having it, it’s already too late. A popular talking point runs: “we’re just paying bills for things we’ve already bought.” As inane as it is, there’s some truth there. Congress operates by committing to spending increases that we don’t have enough money to pay for, trusting that by the time the bills come due, the threat of default will drive almost everyone to unthinkingly vote to lift the debt ceiling and borrow the money we need....
Yah. Ryan negotiates over-spending and figures that: a) you're too damn stupid to notice it; and b) you're too damn listless to scream about it.
Ryan may well get the job since Democrats will vote him into the office. But that's NOT a good thing.

This is "War"?
The Obozo demonstrates his complete disregard for right action in any venue.
The Intercept has received a massive 'data dump' of documents concerning the USA's drone program against terrorists, including kill operations. It's not only mind-bendingly complex, but to anyone with any sort of morality or conscience it's a terrifying illustration of what happens when faceless individuals and mindless computers make life-or-death decisions - decisions that have so far killed far more innocent bystanders than they have legitimate targets...
It's about 6 to 1, innocents v. bad guys, in at least one accounting.
In war, there is such a thing as the 'fog of battle,' which does have un-intended consequences. This is not 'fog of battle;' it resembles a dice game: pure chance.
Obozo is creating hundreds of thousands of very pissed-off families in the Muslim world. They will be pissed off at Americans and, if they follow the Obozo example, they will be selecting random targets, by and large innocents.
In the long run, Obozo's legacy will be horrific for Americans. Ain't it grand?

The Chicago (Catholic) Way: Elide Stuff
With the installation of Bp. Cupich in Chicago, "Chicago Way" politics enters the Church. Note the very important elision in Abp. Cupich's flapjaw here:
Archbishop Blase Cupich of Chicago — who is participating in the Synod of the Family at Pope Francis’ personal invitation — said at a press scrum in the Vatican press office this afternoon that the conscience is "inviolable" and that he believes divorced and remarried couples could be permitted to receive the sacraments, if they have "come to a decision" to do so "in good conscience"
What's missing?
The most important two words: "rightly" and "informed." A "rightly formed" conscience is, indeed, "inviolable." Others need not apply.

Kudos to Cdl. Dolan!
We have often called out Cdl. Dolan for his weakness on abortifacients and silliness on the St Pat's parade.
So when he does a very good thing, we'll compliment him. It's fair.
Dolan was one of the 13 Cardinals who sent a letter to Pp. Bergoglio; the letter expressed grave concerns about the direction of the Synod ongoing. The letter contained some very strong language:
...First, it contains a warning, a warning that is "urgent". In it the Vicar of Christ himself is warned by some of his most important assistants (his Secretary of the Economy, the guardian of the Doctrine of the Faith, the guardian of Divine Worship -- consider all that), and even of the not always consistent Cardinal Dolan (giving an idea of the wide spectrum covered by those concerned) on how this chaotic process created by the Pope himself is "rais[ing] even more fundamental issues about how the Church, going forward, should interpret and apply the Word of God, her doctrines and her disciplines to changes in culture."
The warning goes much further than that because, as several have highlighted, it uses an apocalyptic term, "collapse",
strictly related to how the ideas espoused by Kasper on communion for
remarried divorcees and related concepts, ideas that are protected by
the Pope, have caused the collapse of liberal Protestant communities....
One is reminded that Cdl. Dolan comes from the Midwest and from a fairly large family. He has not forgotten those roots, thank God. The shock of the Obergefell decision probably played a part, too. Perhaps the Cardinal is now fully aware of the implications and/or read Cdl. Sarah's monograph.

John Kass 'Splains the Revolution
This guy Kass has a persuasive take on the revolution brewing in the US.
He begins with Hastert who--besides his perversion-problem--used his office to benefit Hastert. Land deals, just like Harry Reid (surprise!!) It's all Chicago/Illinois stuff.
...Illinois is where big-spending, big-government Republicans served as handmaidens to big-spending, big-government Democratic machine bosses from Chicago. They made deal after deal, and got fatter and fatter, and spent and spent, decade upon decade upon decade.
Now Illinois is broke and can't pay its bills....
...Years ago, I began calling the political arrangement here the Combine, a play on the farm machinery chopping down everything before it, and on bipartisan bosses who ran things in combination.
Chicago's business leaders funded both parties. They relied on the Daleys and other Machine Democrats to maintain control of the city and give them what they wanted and if Republicans balked, they would have their ears pulled by the money guys....
Familiar stuff. The RoadBuilders demand MOAR ROADS!! Wisconsin Manufacturers/Commerce demands MOAR CHEAP LABOR!! (and MOAR BABY-PARTS!!!) The Democrats demand MOAR WELFARE!!, which fits neatly with the MOAR CHEAP LABOR!! demands, eh?
The same stuff went national with Hastert, Bush, and now Obozo.
...And now in Washington even the meat puppets can't deny the Illinois Combine dynamic has been writ large: Big corporate and big government interests on one side — the Combine driving the Leviathan — while American taxpayers and families and small businesses are fed into the hopper....
For all the legitimate shrieking from Republicans condemning Obama for profligate spending, they conveniently skip over the Bush years and the ridiculous 15,000 congressional earmarks in 2005, and that Bridge to Nowhere, and so much more.
The deals allowed Bush to buy political support for his disastrous invasion of Iraq, another reason why wars are always corrosive. The political garbage — the earmarks, the deals, the overspending to buy today's politics with tomorrow's money — was liquefied. It seeped out upon America from under the Orwellian phrase of the day, "Big Government Conservatism."
Meantime, Reince Priebus wonders how in Hell The Donald gets all that support. Maybe Reince should have spent a lot more time with his ears open at Mama Mia's instead of being there with his mouth open.
This is not new. GKChesterton called it 'Hudge and Gudge' back in the early 1900's. We note that England is now a second-rate world player.
Pubbie Talking Points, #3
Sure enough, the boyzz and girlzz were sent home with a script and crying towels. Here's Klinzinger of Illinois:
...Some so-called “think tanks” in Washington, D.C., even create score cards, often contrived and authored by young, unelected people, simply to drive the fundraising effort that pays their salaries....--quoted at Hot Air
He goes on to complain about the sequester and the killing of the Ex-Im Bank....
Our widdle pubbies have been given their widdle scwipts and they will cry and whine.
But there's this "fact" problem that gets in the way of RoJo/Klinzinger/Hewitt crybaby team:
...Did FreedomWorks overtly campaign for John Boehner’s resignation as Speaker and not want Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy to take over? Absolutely, but their anger seemed more at the idea those two didn’t follow smaller, weaker government ideals more than anything else. McCarthy, who is a nice guy and true success story based on his interview on Politinerds, voted in favor of the Farm Bill, Cromnibus, against a ban on federal funds for license plate scanners, against amendments reducing Energy Department spending, and against an amendment to limit NSA spying....[And] There are plenty of economists who explain why the Ex-Im Bank shouldn’t exist, mainly because it’s dyed-in-the-wool cronyism and buying and selling politicians at its finest....
Can't take the heat? Get the hell out of the kitchen, girls.

Versus Obergefell
I think I can join the 64.
...We stand with James Madison and Abraham
Lincoln in recognizing that the Constitution is not whatever a majority
of Supreme Court justices say it is.
We remind all officeholders in the United
States that they are pledged to uphold the Constitution of the United
States, not the will of five members of the Supreme Court.
We call on all federal and state officeholders:
To refuse to accept Obergefell as binding precedent for all but the specific plaintiffs in that case.
To recognize the authority of states to
define marriage, and the right of federal and state officeholders to act
in accordance with those definitions.
To pledge full and mutual legal and political assistance to anyone who refuses to follow Obergefell for constitutionally protected reasons.
To open forthwith a broad and honest
conversation on the means by which Americans may constitutionally resist
and overturn the judicial usurpations evident in Obergefell....
So. Now that Gov. Walker has returned to full-time governorating, perhaps he and his AG Schimel should send a memo underlining the Wisconsin Constitution's prohibition of queer "marriage" to all county clerks.
Yah. Wanna bet?
$762 Million Blown in ObozoCare
So far, taxpayers have lost $762 million in ObozoCare "co-ops."
420,000 people lost their ObozoCare insurance when those co-ops croaked.
And Obozo wants to raise the debt limit. After all, there are 17 more co-ops which need your support.

RoJo, Coburn: Cruz-Haters
Well, well.
Last week, RoJo (who forgot entirely why he was elected, hint, ObozoCare) went on record blaming "raised expectations" for the anti-Establishment rebellion now burning down the (R) Party.
There is no such thing as co-incidence: Tom Coburn said the same thing.
Allahpundit replies:
...Cruz, I think, is as much a product of conservatives losing confidence in Congress to achieve anything as he is a cause of it....
And--after (admittedly) engaging in some ruminative Cruz-bashing of his own, Allah has this to say:
...Meanwhile, look on the bright side, centrist Cruz-haters. There’s no one in the GOP field who could get away with compromising with Democrats as much as President Cruz. His reservoir of goodwill on the right is so vast that I think he alone could sell conservatives on certain bipartisan bills more effectively than any other Republican candidate could. He might surprise people by sitting down with his congressional enemies. And if he does, he could be surprisingly accomplished.
Smoke that, boys.

The "No Evidence" Lawyers: HRC and Obozo
If there's anything we learned during Clinton's years in office, it's this: when they say "...there's no evidence that XYZ happened/led to/resulted in....." it means that they are guilty as Hell of doing it.
Bart Simpson taught them law: "I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything!"
(Or maybe Bart and Obozo learned that from Bill and Hill.)
Screw the lying bastards.

The ObozoCare Fade
Umnnhhh....wooops!
Seems that ObozoCare Exchange enrollment is down to around 10 million, vs. the projected 21 million for 2016.
Since the exchanges have actually LOST 1 million+ in the last year, that 21 million number looks more like Fantasyland, the normal home of Progressives.

Christie's Establishment Ways
The Establishment loves Chris Christie. (Judging by the polls, that's about all the support he'll ever get nationally).
As it turns out, Christie is a thoroughly Establishment kinda guy besides his hate of the Second Amendment: he's a high-living, big-spending, arrogant and entitled slob. Don't take my word for it; read the linked story.

The GAB: Dumb and Worse. My Reform Proposal
Now the Legislature is getting somewhere, in the person of Rep. Craig.
First off, Craig asked why GAB was using GMAIL accounts (think Hillary!!) to send about 6 million documents illegally seized from various citizens.
Kennedy, the supercilious and arrogant twit-in-charge of GAB responded that "....someone told us to do so." Interesting that Kennedy, the supercilious and arrogant twit, "does not recall" (think Hillary!!) exactly WHO 'told us' that.
Meantime, the ex-judge, Nichols (Dane County, of course) came to the brink of admitting that the GAB Board (a bunch of ex-judges) were running a "walking quorum" to authorize the illegal search and seizure operation.
My, my. A supercilious, arrogant twit with Hillary!! habits and a bunch of "judges" who don't know Wisconsin law.
The best reform of GAB: nuke it and prosecute its Board members and the arrogant twit. The second-best reform of GAB: nuke it and prosecute its Board members and the arrogant twit. Criminal indictments will be fine.

Bedwetter Brooks v. Real Conservatism
Rather than fisk Bedwetter/Crease-Admirer David Brooks (NYT, who else?) myself, I'll just lift Shapiro's nuclear bombing of the Bedwetter's mincing attack on Conservatives.
Bedwetter: Basically, the party abandoned traditional conservatism for right-wing radicalism. Republicans came to see themselves as insurgents and revolutionaries, and every revolution tends toward anarchy and ends up devouring its own.
Shapiro: Modern conservatives see the damage the left has wrought: an ever expanding government, an ever left-shifting social structure, the destruction of the foundations of Western civilizations. More importantly, they see what conservatives like Brooks have done in the face of such groundshifting change: virtually nothing.
Bedwetter: By traditional definitions, conservatism stands for intellectual humility, a belief in steady, incremental change, a preference for reform rather than revolution, a respect for hierarchy, precedence, balance and order, and a tone of voice that is prudent, measured and responsible. Conservatives of this disposition can be dull, but they know how to nurture and run institutions. They also see the nation as one organic whole. Citizens may fall into different classes and political factions, but they are still joined by chains of affection that command ultimate loyalty and love....
Shapiro: ...this is absolute horseshit. Traditional conservatism stands for principles, not just tactics. Conservatism prefers intellectual humility not because conservatives should politely demur in the face of civilization-destroying leftism, but because lack of intellectual humility leads to tyranny. Conservatism believes in incremental change only when the status quo is decent. It does not prefer incrementalism in rolling back the evils of radical leftism. The idiotic notion that establishment Republicans have done a wonderful job “nurturing and running institutions” has been disproved by years of useless establishment Republican governance. And as to the notion that the nation is “one organic whole…joined by chains of affection,” Brooks is living in a nation that no longer exists....
Bedwetter: Civilization was always on the brink of collapse. Every setback, like the passage of Obamacare, became the ruination of the republic. Comparisons to Nazi Germany became a staple. This produced a radical mind-set....
Shapiro: Perhaps conservatives fall into the trap of worrying about crisis too often. But conservatives should be on war footing given the radicalism and tyranny of Barack Obama and his ever-ascendant left. Brooks seems convinced that everything will be okay, if we just speak nicely. Conservatives wonder what he’s smoking. Brooks and his friends find comparisons to Nazi Germany uncouth, and believe it could never happen here, ever, under any circumstances. Most Germans thought the same thing....
In a graf which is ironic in the extreme, Bedwetter:
...People who don’t accept democracy will be bad at conversation. They won’t respect tradition, institutions or precedent. These figures are masters at destruction but incompetent at construction. These insurgents are incompetent at governing and unwilling to be governed. But they are not a spontaneous growth. It took a thousand small betrayals of conservatism to get to the dysfunction we see all around....
For that stinking pile of crap, I don't need Shapiro.
"Bad at conversation" = calling everyone a racist, or homophobe, or 'denier'--which are the only utterances the Left uses in 'conversation.'
"Won't respect tradition" = after 10,000 years of actual marriage across every civilization and religion in recorded history, we now have queer marriage.
"Masters at destruction/incompetent at construction" = Shall we mention ObozoCare's continuing implosion? Its state 'exchange' bankruptcies?
"Incompetent at governing and unwilling to be governed" = ObozoCare again, not to mention SSDI and Clinton's hack-me!! hack-me!! email. As to 'unwilling to be governed', how about blatant violations of Constitutional restrictions and flat-out re-writing of Federal laws? IRS, EPA, anyone??
"It took a thousand small betrayals".....yes, it did. Ask JFKennedy, or Harry Truman about 'betrayals' of Democrat Party principles.
The Bedwetter and his ilk should stick to fashion reviews of creased trousers and let actual Conservative men handle political crisis.
We, after all, are well-armed and capable of thought, which is to say we can persevere no matter the scenario presented by the Left.

EPA to Close Milwaukee Down. Where's RoJo?
Last week, Sen. Ron Johnson delivered a whine to local Republicans to the effect that a Republican-held House and Republican-held Senate were powerless to stop the Obozo.
Yah. That 2014 election? Pffffffffft!
Turns out that the powerless Republicans may actually be plotting to eliminate Milwaukee from the map. See, since they won't stop Obozo's EPA from enforcing its new 70PPB ozone limits, Milwaukee will likely become a "non-attainment" area (like the 4 county area already IS) and EPA will force Milwaukee to stop job-creation in places like.......factories!!.
Smart!! No Milwaukee, no Democrat stronghold aside from Dane County!
There had to be a reason that RoJo's party is "powerless." Now we've found it!!

Scylla and Charibdis: The West's Crisis of Satanic Origin
While Cardinal Sarah compares to other, more recent, political entities (legitimately), I'll stick with the more ancient nomenclature. Either way, it's a crisis, and its origin is a very significant player.
...Cardinal Robert Sarah said the idolatry of Western freedom and Islamic fundamentalism are "almost like two apocalyptic beasts” and similar to Nazism and Communism...
...According to the full text of his intervention (see below), given to the Register and Aleteia, the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship said “we find ourselves between gender ideology and ISIS”.
Islamic massacres and libertarian demands “regularly contend for the front pages of the newspapers”, he said, and pointed to June 26 this year. So-called Ramadan terrorist attacks in France, Kuwait, Somalia, and Tunisia, took place that day, as did the Supreme Court decision allowing same-sex “marriage” nationwide.
“From these two radicalizations arise the two major threats to the family: its subjectivist disintegration in the secularized West through quick and easy divorce, abortion, homosexual unions, euthanasia et cetera," Cardinal Sarah said, and cited as examples gender theory, the 'Femen' radical feminist group, the LGBT lobby, and the International Planned Parenthood Federation.
“On the other hand,” he said, there is the “pseudo-family of ideologized Islam which legitimizes polygamy, female subservience, sexual slavery, child marriage." He said he was referring to Al Qaeda, Isis, Boko Haram and other similar groups....
So wherefrom these two ideologies?
...The West African cardinal said “several clues” allow one to intuit the very “demonic origin” of these two movements.
Unlike the Spirit of Truth that promotes communion, he said “these encourage confusion” and demand a “universal and totalitarian rule.” They are “violently intolerant, destroyers of families, society and the Church, and are openly Christianophobic,” he said.
“We are not contending against creatures of flesh and blood.”
If you have not a sword, sell your cloak to obtain one. Do it while on your knees in prayer.

Some Intelligent Answers to Brit Gun Questions
The Captain provides short and intelligent answers to a Brit nooz-person's questions about guns in the USA.
Sample:
Q: How did the gun lobby become so powerful?
A: We have guns.
Heh. That's smart-alecky--but the rest are enlightening, beginning with the obvious: we are citizens, not subjects. Worth the short read.

Very Pleasant Lunch
Following the path of another Northerner, we journeyed from the Cold Lands through Chattanooga and into Atlanta. That other Northerner was accompanied by several thousand more rifles than we were, of course, and we didn't set any fires on the way down.
Having arrived at the Absolutely Worst Traffic Area in the World--Atlanta--I was pleased to have enticed Grim to meet for lunch at a place (suspiciously) named "Mellow Mushroom." Heh. The food was good, and the company was even better.
In fact, we most likely proved the validity of the 'six degrees of separation' theory, but that cannot be discussed further without doing a Hillary. Suffice it to say that the coincidence was startling--if you believe in coincidence.
Grim proved to be every inch the gentleman and scholar that he displays in his blog, and was a highlight of the journey. Not so much as the family we have there, of course--but it was well worth the time.
Should he wander into the Cold Climes near here, we have another pizza place which will interest him, I'm sure. And we'll look forward to it!

Pubbie Talking Point (Part 2)
Besides the '....it's the eeeeeeeeevil conservatives...' line, RNC has another talking point, this one concerning the Paul Ryan For Speaker campaign--voiced by Hugh Hewitt and Chuck Todd of NBC.
We begin with Cong. Brat's warning:
...Because of the national debt, interest payments on that debt, and entitlement spending as required by law, the United States will face a major financial crisis in 11 years, Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) said on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday...
(Let's recall that Brat overthrew Eric Cantor, who forgot about his voters while being an Establishment Guy. And let's remember that Paul Ryan gave away the store on the spending cap.)
So Todd asks this question:
...“Congressman Brat, let me start with you. You’re a member of the Freedom Caucus. What is it that you want, and what is it that Speaker Boehner, Kevin McCarthy, and Eric Cantor haven’t delivered?”...
The answer was simple:
...Brat said, “Right, well they all ran on A Pledge to America. And they, just like your 72% of the folks out there in the real world say, we make these promises when we run but then when we get up here, we’re called unrealistic by kind of the Washington establishment and the bubble up here.”...
Todd (and Hewitt) were delivering the talking point also referenced by RoJo in his little fireside chat in Sussex: we can't do what we said we'd do no matter who 'owns' the House and Senate, and the eeeeevil Conservatives are gumming up the works, see!!! So HAH!!
Meantime, The Donald has yuuuuuuuuuge numbers.

Pubbie Talking Point: "It's the Evil Rightists!"
Gee. Wiggy attended a little gathering a few days ago and heard RoJo say that it's really, really, really, hard to *actually* fight ObozoCare in every way (sort of like his campaign promise.)
Why is it so hard?
...some Republican frustration is the result of inflated expectations. Some conservative organizations raise expectations beyond what is possible, although Johnson did not name who they were....
Hmmmm.
Sure enough, in today's news, we hear the same thing, this time from the New York Times:
...Far-right media figures, relatively small in number but potent in their influence, have embarked on a furious Internet expedition to cover Representative Paul D. Ryan in political silt....
Yah, it's the eeeeeeeeeeeevil Conservatives! Sure! That's the ticket!!!
We hear talking points from Reince & Co., don't we?
Meanwhile, The Donald maintains yuuuge numbers.

The Arrogance of G.A.B.
Seems that the election-accountability folks at GAB have an arrogance problem.
They don't want to release their records about the witch-hunt they conducted in alliance with the rabid-dog partisans of the Milwaukee District Attorney's office.
But that part is not the "arrogant" part; that's what you'd expect from people who are now running scared.
Here's the "arrogance" part:
...there are “hot documents” that would be very embarrassing to the GAB if made public. One set of closed meeting minutes from June and August 2013 GAB meetings shows board members making accusations about the targets, describing them as ignorant and arrogant in matters involving Wisconsin campaign finance law,...
That was before the GAB lost its case in about 47 different State and Federal decisions.
And the Board consists of "judges," mind you! (Judges who would make Christ Seraphim look like Learned Hand. )

Did Marco Rubio or Abp. Cupich Read the Constitution?
Noticed this last week.
Marco Rubio appeared on Fox News' morning show and emphatically stated two or three times that the Second Amendment protects 'the right to self-defense and defending one's family.'
He's partially right.
The Second protects the citizens' right to overthrow the Government. The 'self-defense' stuff is secondary.
Politically correct, but only 50% on your civics test, Marco.
Today, we find that Abp. Cupich of Chicago is also ignorant of the 2A's real purpose. Methinks the Archbishop should concentrate on saving souls--perhaps ordering his priests to speak about "marriage before babies" and such-like. That "morals stuff" has a chance of working, Excellency.

"National Right to Life"? Not Really
Some of us (and you) are old enough to remember why Judie Brown's American Life League is far, far, better than NRTL.
It's this: NRTL was the favorite of GHWBush and his pro-abortion wife, Barbara. That fact, which has been around for about 30 years or more, is why ALL is where it is.
ALL is far from the only "pure" anti-abortion gang, these days. But NRTL? Don't trust them now, or ever.
In fact--as the linked article points out--even NRTL's state affiliates don't trust them.

Chamber of Commerce vs. US
The Chamber of Commerce (in Wisconsin read: WMC) will spend $100 million to assure importing of umpty-lotsa cheap laborers and cheap STEM folks, and to renew Ex-Im which puts taxpayers on the hook for debts of all sorts of foreign entities.
That's OK. It's in their interest to do so.
It's also in most citizens' interest to vote for people who think that Americans should come first. The Chamber has not voided the right to vote.
Yet.

RoJo, Tammy. No Difference
We note that Ron Johnson is not even pretending to be conservative any more.
