The Useless Wind Farm

Not only are they a hazard to your mental health and rather expensive; they were USELESS in Minnesota's cold snap.

...Yesterday central Minnesota experienced a natural gas “brownout,” as Xcel Energy advised customers to turn thermostats down to 60 degrees and avoid using hot water. Xcel put up some customers in hotels. Why?

Because the wind wasn’t blowing. Utilities pair natural gas plants with wind farms, in order to burn gas, which can be ramped up and down more quickly than coal, when the wind isn’t blowing.
Which raises the question: since natural gas is reliable, why do we need the wind farms? The answer is, we don’t. When the wind isn’t blowing–as it wasn’t yesterday–natural gas supplies the electricity. It also heats homes, and with bitter cold temperatures and no wind, there wasn’t enough natural gas to go around. The resulting “brownout” has been a political shock in Minnesota....
Nice, eh??  Bp. Dewane should move up here and......ahhh......chill out!!  We all know he doesn't like burning natgas, so here's his chance to Save the World!!

Paul Ryan, Liar of the House

Trump mentions that Ryan lied to his face about securing Wall financing, so long as Trump signed the temporary budget agreement.  So Trump signed it.

And Paulie-boy ran away.

Right to his house--the one surrounded by a wall.

A Challenge for Bp. Dewane

Bp. Dewane of Venice, FL., thinks that a carbon tax will save the world.  That's nice.

So here's a little challenge for you, Excellency.

Turn off the heating and air conditioning systems in your residence, car, and cathedral, and all Diocesan offices.

Go ahead.  Be an example for all of us Neanderthals.

Get back to us after you do that, thanks.

Gov. Northam: "I'm a Doctor!!!"

Northam, who proposes infanticide in Virginia, protests that he is a DOCTOR!!

Yah, well, so was Mengele.  And the resemblance is striking.

Evers To KEEP Youth Gulag Prison

Gee.  While Walker was the Governor, Lincoln Hills was the second coming of the Gulag.

So Gov. Evers decides to keep it open for another couple of years.

S'pose the MSM will write articles every single day about that?

For Grijalva, There Is No "God"

This can't be surprising to anyone who pays attention.

A draft of a new committee rules package expected to be approved this week would strike the phrase, “So help me God,” from the oath witnesses take when they testify before the House Committee on Natural Resources.

The chair-atheist is Raul Grijalva, a Democrat.

If the phrase is cut, the House Committee on Natural Resources would ask witnesses to state only: “Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under penalty of law, that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?”

Eh.  What happens in Mordor on the Potomac is becoming only prelude to cataclysm.

Tammy Baldwin Adviser Arrested for Assault

Daily Caller had this guy on their radar a while back and we posted on his relationship with Tammy "the Bigot" Baldwin (D-Anti Catholic).

He's under arrest for assault and battery of two Marine reservists in Philly.  Apparently his ....inclinations....,..are a family affair, although neither his Mom nor brother have committed assault and battery.  Yet.

What will Tammy do??  Oh, me, oh my......Oh--wait!!  Tammy's in hiding until the next election.

Harley's Problems Not "Orange Man Bad"

The current Harley CEO likes to blame Orange Man Bad's tariffs for Harley's zip-zero-nada net earnings.

Really?

Maybe he should be looking at the serious--and multitudinous--design and manufacturing errors.

Harley has experienced a spate of recalls in recent years.

A year ago, the company recalled more than 250,000 motorcycles for faulty brakes. That recall, which Harley said would cost it $29.4 million, covered CVO Touring and VSRC bikes — model years 2008 through 2011 — equipped with anti-lock brakes.

Last fall, Harley recalled approximately 238,300 motorcycles for a clutch problem — the fourth recall for a clutch issue in five years.

The voluntary safety recall included all model-year 2017 and 2018 Touring, Trike and CVO Touring models, as well as some 2017 Softails.

In 2017, the company recalled about 57,000 motorcycles because an oil line could come loose, spewing oil into the path of the rear tire.

The recall covered certain 2017 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Police Electra Glide, Police Road King, Road King, Road King Special, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Road Glide and Road Glide Special motorcycles....

Oh yeah--today's news?  Another 200,000++ recalls for brake problems.

Where in the World Is....

Ruth Bader Ginsburg??

Deep State v. Atkisson Update

So happens that Eric Holder is making noises about running for President.  Holder, like William Barr, the nominee for US Attorney General, is an extreme authoritarian and has a Certified Membership in the Deep State.

There is no such thing as co-incidence.  Thus today's news story is of interest.

Attkisson alleged in a 2015 lawsuit that former Attorney General Eric Holder, former Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, and unnamed federal agents conducted unauthorized surveillance of her home and electronic devices in an attempt to determine who was leaking confidential information to her.

A federal judge dismissed Attkisson's lawsuit, finding that resolving the allegations would overstep the court's authority because it "would require inquiry into sensitive Executive Branch discussions and decisions."

Attkisson's appeal will be heard Tuesday by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Atkisson wrote a story on Fast and Furious, wherein Holder showed himself for the complete fool that he actually is--but of course, he was also A.G., and he started clubbing baby seals like Atkisson to prevent the population from learning about his.........ahh...........disability.

Holder will rot in Hell.  Not only for this, but for his continuing disruption of elections in Wisconsin and other States.  It would be nice if the 4th Circuit pushed him into that flaming pit, eh?

VDH: "Follow the Money"

Now and then we all have to be reminded of first principles.  Victor Davis Hanson brings up the first First principle:  Follow the Money!  After a brief recitation of the metamorphosis of the Democrat Party from JFK to present, he explicates.

What explains this accelerating transformation of so many liberals into progressives, and so many progressives into hard-core leftists, socialists, and who knows what next? The reasons predated Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Money, lots of it, matters.

The left-wing approach to billionaires has radically changed. Aside from the rhetorical boilerplate about robber barons and the need for an income-tax rate of 70 percent, in reality the hard Left has partnered with the nation’s richest. The new big fortunes of America are now mostly in high-tech, media, and finance, not in the old conservative and muscular corporations centered in farming, manufacturing, or oil and minerals. And the new zillionaires are left-wing, and they are activist: Bezos, Bloomberg, Buffett, Gates, Zuckerberg, the Google and Apple teams, Soros, Steyer, and a host of others. Through grants, foundations, purchased media, and super PACs, astronomical amounts of money flow into federal, state, and even local midterm election campaigns, and into voter harvesting and issues from global warming and late-term abortion to open borders, gun control, and identity politics. The 2018 midterms were a mere precursor of things to come.

The new mega-wealthy envision an America in a way that satisfies identity politics while exempting their own monopolies, trusts, and billion-dollar fortunes from the ramifications of their own ideology. Unencumbered by personal consequences, they pursue boutique agendas — sort of like a few of the White Russian aristocrats who hoped to continue on by subsidizing and supporting the Bolsheviks, or the Jacobin bigwigs of the French Revolution who thought they could guide the deserving rich people into the national razor. In such a bizarro world, there is nothing wrong with tech employees forced to sleep in their cars near Silicon Valley monopolies -— as long as the owners wear T-shirts and flip-flops and rail at Trump in internal memos....
Hanson is doing those mega-ultra-wealthy types a favor:  he is warning them, very seriously, that they will merely be the last to get the guillotine.

The rest of us?  Well, we're armed; but are we prepared?

Pity the Poor Midwestern Tesla Owners

See, there's this problem with lithium batteries....and Ticker brings it up as a public service.

...I remind you that lithium batteries cannot be charged below 32F, and all electric vehicles must prohibit that, because if you don't the batteries will be internally damaged and subject to shorting without notice at a later date, which means a nasty battery fire.

Now if you're parked in very cold temperatures but plugged into wall power then the vehicle can use that wall power to heat the battery pack and keep it from going below 32F.  But when driving if it's cold enough the vehicle will have to use some of its stored power to do that as well as keep the cabin warm and move the car, which has a potentially-serious impact on range.

Much worse, however, is if you park the vehicle outside where there is no shore power available and it gets very cold.  In that case the vehicle has only two options: Shut down entirely and prohibit charging until the pack warms up or consume power in the pack to keep the battery above freezing temperatures.

In the second case that only works until the pack runs out of stored energy, of course, at which point the first option is the only one remaining.  This in turn means you get to call a towtruck since the car can't move under its own power as the battery is exhausted.

What's worse is that it may take several hours once you have shore power available (e.g. you tow it to a garage and plug it in) before the pack is confirmed to be warm enough to accept a charge again....
Well, these people all bought the damn things because they are Virtuous Green People, right?  What could be more Virtuously Green than keeping the car in your garage and WALKING to work?

Hmmmmm????

"No Wall Nancy": Houston Cops Down

The consequences of Pelosi's ego?

Five Houston police officers were taken to the hospital following a shootout Monday evening as they tried to serve a search warrant on a house in the southeastern part of the city as part of a drug raid....
No mention--yet--as to the immigration status of the drug dealers.  Regardless of that, however, No Wall Nancy's ego and power-lust have invited this, and more like it.

Send that old bag the bill, fellas....

FBI's Wray "Just Following Orders"

We mentioned earlier that Chistopher Wray, FBI Director, was showing his Little Girl side with his weeping and wailing over the shutdown.  That--by the way--was done on US taxpayer dollars using the FBI's website.

Wray certainly is a Little Girl; the next we hear of the Feebs is their bulked-up raid on the home of one Mr. Stone, an unarmed 60++ year old guy who doesn't even own a gun, although he does have kitchen knives.

Little Girl Wray was Just Following Orders.  Wray knew about this raid and should have told Mueller to stick it in his ass.  But Wray was apparently too busy filming his fainting-couch routine.

This is what passes for "leadership" in Washington, D.C.

It's Not Cuoma, Eminence; It's the Rest of Us

Monica Migliorino Miller--who we knew when she lived here--berates Cdl. Dolan for his mealy-mouthed response to Cuomo's murderous obscenity.  And she highlights one of Dolan's reasons for not whacking Cuomo with any Canonical penalties at all:

He even provided a very peculiar justification, that since Cuomo delights in his dissent from Church teaching, “he’s not going to be moved by this, so what’s the use?”
Frankly, Eminence, Cuomo is NOT the question.  He knows exactly what he did, and he knows exactly what his eternal destination will be.

No, Eminence, we don't care about what Cuomo thinks and Cuomo is not your principal concern.

Instead, you should be VERY concerned about what the Faithful think; and even more important, you should be VERY concerned about what every other citizen in the US thinks.  All of them (and we) look for a moral bulwark; the rock, the fortress, the strength.

No one responds to an uncertain trumpet, Eminence.  Stop trying to evangelize Cuomo and his ilk.  They have chosen badly and don't care what you say.  Instead,  become the trumpeter that all the rest of us need to find our path to salvation.

Want the fastest story on the Obama/Clinton/Mueller scandal?

The scandal which SHOULD result in a lot of executions and to Hell with the trial?

Bongino has it here.  Only 30 minutes.....

How About 4" of 10" Predicted?

It appears that in this location, The End of The World will show up another day.  We have about 4" of the 10" prediction at this time.

We'll have to wait for Occasional Cortex' "12 years", I guess.

By Their Friends You Shall Know Them....

If that old saying is true, then we know Pp. Francis, and what we know is not good at all.

Not in the least 'good', and less-and-less Catholic, assuming that Catholicism has to do with Right Order.

The most recent:

As announced recently, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne was retired as Archbishop of Lima and Primate of Peru by Pope Francis. At the same time Francis immediately appointed his new successor. ...

... For the new Archbishop of Lima and Primate of Peru, Pope Francis has appointed Carlos Castillo Mattasoglio, priest of the Archdiocese and professor of theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Two things are notable in the above.  First, the Pope whacked Cdl. Cipriani the very day he hit 75, and appointed Mattasoglio at the same time.  This is unusual--so, obviously, it was The Plan.

"Well," you say, "is there any other reason that you say 'it is the plan'"?

Yes, yes, indeed!!

He [Mattasoglio] is a priest who rebelled against the bishop during the 20 years of Cipriani in Lima. He never participated in retreats or priestly meetings with the Cardinal. He never participated in liturgical ceremonies with the Cardinal, such as Corpus Christi, Chrism Mass, etc.  [And worse:] "...Carlos Castillo Mattasoglio was close to the Maoist Partido Comunista del Perú - of Sendero Luminoso de José Carlos Mariátegui (Communist Party of Peru - on the Shining Path). The "Shining Path" terrorist attacks from 1980 to the arrest of their leader Abimael Guzman in 1992, cost at least 70,000 Peruvians lives.
It is one thing to denounce eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil capitalists and work for human rights and prosperity of the lowest rungs of society.  It is another thing entirely to 'be close with' Marxist terrorist killers.

Francis seems to have an affinity for the Communists; see his gross mis-steps in Cuba and now in Venezuela, not to mention the horrific example of Communist China.

Just a reminder:  Communists are by definition atheistsThey may lie about it, but it doesn't change the reality.

And then there are all those same-sex-attracted predators who apparently get along just fine with The Francis.

Yah, well.  Pray harder.

Revive 'The Index' For Dan Horan!

Several years ---well, OK, decades -- ago, the Catholic Church maintained a list of books which were likely to turn the reader into a Prot, or atheist, or indifferentist, or worse, a Member of Congress or lawyer.

(It's possible that I gratuitously added the last two.)

That list was called "The Index."  It no longer is kept, which may have something to do with....

Daniel Horan, OFM.

Anyhow.  We can start another "Index" just with his bio!!  This would include colleges which are occasions of, umnnnhhhh, Protestantism, atheism, indefferentism, or.......Yah.  You get the idea.

He is currently assistant professor of systematic theology and spirituality at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.[3] He is a columnist for National Catholic Reporter.[4] He studied Theology (in the School of Arts and Sciences) and Journalism (in the Jandoli School of Journalism) at St. Bonaventure University and studied in the Master of Arts in Systematic Theology and Master of Divinity programs at the Washington Theological Union. He earned a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Boston College. He previously taught in the Department of Religious Studies at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., and summer courses in the Department of Theology at St. Bonaventure University, the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College, and at Catholic Theological Union. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of St. Bonaventure University and the Board of Regents of Franciscan School of Theology. He previously served several terms on the International Thomas Merton Society Board of Directors [5] and is a former columnist at America magazine.[6]
He has written extensively on Franciscan theology, philosophy, and spirituality[7] as well as given lectures and delivered academic papers (around the U.S., Canada, and Europe) on the theological and social significance of the work of Thomas Merton.[8] He has also given workshops and delivered lectures on the intersection of the Millennial Generation and spirituality.[9] His current work focuses on postmodern thought and the use of medieval franciscan thinkers like John Duns Scotus as well as the authentic retrieval of their thought for contemporary theological inquiry; the life, work and thought of Thomas Merton; and contemporary systematic and constructive theologies.
Yup.  Lots of places to avoid, papers and books to burn--and Good Reasons to be Suspicious--like for example, why do both Rembert Weakland OSB and Daniel Horan OFM seem to be so......enamored.........of Thomas Merton?

Hmmm?

Toxic Femininity!

You've all heard about Toxic Masculinity, right?

Well, then, I give you Toxic FEMININITY!!!

That's "leadership" in D.C.

Destroying the Four Olds

The comparison is not perfect, of course, but it is tantalizingly close.

...let me point to China’s “Great Cultural Revolution” from about 1966 to 1976. The Red Guards, mostly teenagers and people in their twenties, took over the country. The idea was to destroy the “Four Olds” – old customs, old culture, old habits, and old ideas. China had already undergone a serious economic and political revolution since Mao took over after World War II. Now it was time to destroy what was left of traditional Chinese civilization....

Here, the "Red Guards" are, actually, Reds--as in Communists or near-Communists; they inhabit places like Madison, Mordor on the Potomac, and damn near every faculty lounge at college, high-school, and grade-school levels, plus all the "news" rooms.

There is a difference:  in the USA, there will be armed resistance.

"Religion of Peace" Strikes Again

We were told that Mohammedanism is a religion of peace.

Two bombs minutes apart tore through a Roman Catholic cathedral on a southern Philippine island where Muslim militants are active, killing at least 20 people and wounding 111 others during a Sunday Mass, officials said.

Witnesses said the first blast inside the Jolo cathedral in the provincial capital sent churchgoers, some of them wounded, to stampede out of the main door. Army troops and police posted outside were rushing in when the second bomb went off about one minute later near the main entrance, causing more deaths and injuries. The military was checking a report that the second explosive device may have been attached to a parked motorcycle....
It appears that GWBush was wrong in the extreme.

Tariffs? What Tariffs??

It's useful to understand 'context' as Mr. Tonelson makes clear.

About those Orange-Man-Bad tariffs, which (we are told) precede the Collapse of Automakers by only a few years.......well.......

...the $1 billion figure doesn’t exist in isolation. It needs to be compared with the total costs these companies pay to run their operations. And when that rudimentary calculation is performed, the $1 billion looks pretty unimpressive.

After all, GM’s total costs and expenses in the third quarter of 2018 (the latest data available) topped $34 billion. Its total costs for the year’s first two quarters exceeded $32 billion. (See here and here.) So if the fourth quarter winds up in that ballpark, GM’s 2018 costs will be nearly $130 billion. Which doesn’t make the $1 billion in extra metals costs look very big at all. Ford’s costs, incidentally, were running even higher than GM’s for the first nine months of 2018.  (See the quarterly earnings reports listed here.) ...
Yah, sorry about that, but the death of GM and Ford will be due to their extravagant (and silly) spending on all-electric cars, 'driverless' vehicles,  and ownership/rental/sharing gimmicks.

Oh, well.  They'll find another Orange Man Bad thing somewhere and start all over again.

The RoadBuilders: "The Money?? That's ALL OURS!!"

Gotta love the twisties called 'logic' by the RoadBuilder lobby here:

...Under Walker nearly $1.5 billion in general fund support was provided to the transportation fund. This underscores — proves, in fact — the inadequacy of current law transportation fund revenue....
See the hidden argument?

OK, then, here it is:  "Transportation fund" must be big enough to satisfy all the wants of the RoadBuilders.  "General fund" money must only be used for "general fund" purposes (whatever they may be) and NEVER for RoadBuilders, because if it is already in the "transportation fund" WE GET IT, NOT YOU TAXPAYER-SUCKERS, dammit!!

Sure, guys.   There's a few hundred million excess revenues in "general fund", so all the faddle spewed here about 'irresponsible Walker' is just that.  He ran a tight ship and certain Moneyed Interests don't like that at all.

Surprised?

There's more bitching!!

The repeal of gas tax indexing in 2006 has led to a 12 percent decline in the purchasing power of gas tax revenue.

*snif*

That's exactly what was supposed to happen.  In the Good Old Days, when the RoadBuilders ran everything (think Tommy Thompson), gas tax revenues were all THEIRS, no matter the amount, and--by the way--no legislator was accused of increasing taxes because no legislator ever VOTED on the rape/pillage scheme.

Now those poor babies, the RoadBuilders, have to convince the taxpayer that they MUST give them mo' money.  The taxpayers--those dirty deplorables--may not agree, of course, which is a frightening thought.

What they want is a guaran-damn-teed pile of revenue for themselves, locked into a vault that only the RoadBuilders can open.

Game on.

Excommunicate Cuomo? Not That Easy, Sorry

In the Good Old Days, the murderous governor of New York State would be forced to kneel outside his parish church in sackcloth and ash (no matter the temperature) until he repented for his egregious, manifold, and manifest sins, including his current concubinage situation.

This ain't the Good Old Days, and even though I am NOT a fan of Cdl. Dolan, Dolan's position is indirectly defended by Ed Peters, who is a very, very, competent Canon lawyer.

Dammit.

Anyhow.

Those who think that Andrew Cuomo should be excommunicated for signing New York’s appalling abortion law need no invitation to make their case for that canonical sanction in accord with the canon law. Thomas Becket could make his case for excommunication (the curious and Latin-literate can verify that claim by checking, say, Gasparri’s footnotes to 1917 CIC 2343 § 4, provisions that took a dim view of murdering priests). But, if moderns cannot make the case for Cuomo’s excommunication (and I, among many others trained in canon law, do not think they can), they should cease calling for the (presently) impossible and focus instead on what can (and I, along with some notable others, think should) be done in the face of a Cuomo-like affront to Church teaching and basic human dignity.
OK.  No sackcloth, no ashes, no ex-comm.  What next?

...the single most publicly-observable aspect of excommunication (hardly surprising, given the very name of this sanction) is, of course, exclusion from holy Communion.....what is most obvious to the individual, to the faith community, and to the general public, is that an excommunicate is barred from participating in the Church’s greatest sacrament, holy Communion (Canons 915 and 1331)....

...Now, here’s the point: all of the personal, community, and even secular values served by barring an excommunicate from holy Communion as part of the sanction of excommunication are immediately available simply by applying Canon 915, a sacramental disciplinary norm in Book IV of the Code (and not a penal norm from Book VI), which canon requires ministers of holy Communion to withhold the Sacrament, not just from those under formal sanction, of course, but also from those who ‘obstinately persevere in manifest grave sin’. Let that phrasing sink in....
Just that simple. It's obvious, it's public, it's MORE than 'symbolic,' and it says everything that the Church should say. THIS is the hill to die on, Eminence. Of course, dying takes a bit of corragio, not only for Cdl. Dolan, but for every OTHER Bishop in this country whose Diocese includes people like Cuomo--and for the priest/pastors who are the 'point men' in this battle.

There are a lot of them in Milwaukee, of course. Think Abp. Listecki will enforce Canon 915 on them through his priests?

You do, eh? Wanna bet? How much, sucker?

The UN: Crazier Than Democrats

Trump never promised that the US would withdraw from the UN under his watch.

He missed a bet there.  The UN is now creating a document which will define "Crimes Against Humanity."

And guess what's on the list?

...Catholic Church teaching regarding the unborn child. That is, protecting unborn children would be a crime against humanity. Even up to the moment of birth, like in the Empire State? That's not yet clear.

Catholic Church teaching limiting marriage to 1 male and 1 female. That is, defending the traditional definition of marriage would be a crime against humanity. Would that include not just so-called "homosexual marriage" but also bigamy and polyandry? How about union between a human and an animal, perhaps one's service animal? What about "marrying" a robot?...
Earlier, we mentioned that there is a co-ordinated campaign against Catholicism which, while having been operative for several decades, has only become glaringly obvious in the last several months.

The Muslims will--likely--blow these provisions out of the water.  One expects that the Trump Administration will make efforts to eliminate this folderol as well--but one never knows, eh?

RoJo: This Is McConnell's Fault

McKenna is interviewing RoJo--and he makes it clear that the cave-in (if it is such) is ALL on McConnell, who did not have a plan or a strategy for dealing with Crazy Aunt Nancy or Schumer.

RoJo wrote a bill which would have issued paychecks ONLY to the Gummint workers who were forced to work--not the others.

McConnell refused to bring it up.  Meantime, McConnell leaks the info that he browbeat Trump over this shutdown because the pooor, pooor, pipples were starving.

F&^% McConnell.....again.  With a splintered 2X4.

"ChiCom Mitch", whose family wealth comes directly from the Chinese Communists, runs the Senate because ChiCom Mitch got $175 million into (R) Senator campaign accounts.  That's why we have that old jackwad.

Ain't that great?

Wut? Trump? Huh?

Vox Day reminds us to wait two days before rendering a final judgment on this.

Yielding to mounting pressure and growing disruption, President Donald Trump and congressional leaders on Friday reached a short-term deal to reopen the government for three weeks while negotiations continue over the president’s demands for money to build his long-promised wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump announced the agreement to break the 35-day impasse as intensifying delays at the nation’s airports and widespread disruptions brought new urgency to efforts to resolve the standoff.
On first blush, he caved to the Governing Elite.

That would be very, very, disappointing.

FBI Beclowns Itself.....Again

Seems like the FBI was taking lessons from Wisconsin's local yokels (read:  John Chisholm) on "How to Raid the Homes of Old People, Scare Children, and Be Really Stupid While Trying to Look Really TOUGH!"

On May 2, 2011, in the early morning hours 25 Navy SEALs stormed Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The Navy SEALs arrived in two Black Hawk helicopters to storm the compound of the terrorist leader behind the 9-11 attacks.

On January 25, 2019, in the pre-dawn hours, at least six FBI vehicles and at least 12 officers stormed Trump associate Roger Stone’s home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The deep state officers were dressed in tactical vests with large weapons. They were wearing night vision glasses....

What's next?

The FBI will be calling the local TeeVee stations offering puff-piece crapola about how really nice the FBI is to kittens and how agents drive carefully in school zones.  And some damn fool news director will actually take the bait.

"Covington Event" Was NOT Co-Incidence

Here's how to think of the "Covington Event":  there is NO SUCH THING as CO-INCIDENCE.

If you think that the lying Indian Phillips "just happened" to find those Catholic kids and "just happened" to attempt to provoke them, you don't get it.  (But then, you can be forgiven for not remembering John Podesta's 2012 emails).

...A foundation created by [lying Indian] Phillips, however, does have the backing of powerful people who do not have the Church’s best interest in mind. Phillips’s Native Youth Alliance is funded, as its own website states, by a number of left-wing bigwigs, including Bill and Melinda Gates and, yes, the Rockefellers, of course.  [Also:  the Oneida of Wisconsin and the Indian Gaming Council.]

It seems as though Mr. Phillips is in the pocket of a different network of leftwing billionaires, who’ve now turned their sights on the Catholic Church....

The article introduces John Podesta, who, among other things, served as Hildebeeste's campaign manager in her failed effort of 2016.  Podesta and his allies have a long history of attempts to undermine the Catholic Church in the US.  Their first efforts, Catholics In Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics United, both failed.  (The money for those came partially from Soros and Tim Gill, respectively.)

That's when Podesta and his allies decided to go "bottom-up" rather than "top-down."

...However, what is more [interesting] is Podesta’s claim that the Catholic Spring would have to come from the “bottom up” which, in Deep State speak, means funding smaller individuals and organizations to wage a guerilla war against the Church.

Since 2012 there indeed has been a guerilla war waged against the Church by a coterie of leftists in and outside of the Church who have been receiving money from leftwing billionaires such as Bill and Melinda Gates, George Soros, and the Rockefellers to attack conservative and traditional Catholics.

Nathan Phillips—whether a mere pawn in the globalist game, or a dedicated servant of the global elites—is just one of many guerillas waging a war on behalf of globalism against the Catholic Church....

You expect the Rockefeller/Soros/Gill/Gates problems, of course, but you don't see the money trail as easily when the money goes to a small-ball player like Phillips.  But think about it:  there are lots of small-ball players within the Church who spew agitprop, raise Hell, and act like enemies of the Church, and many of them are priests and Bishops or Cardinals.

Bella Dodd told us.  It's NOT co-incidence.

We will link Part Two of the Remnant series when it comes up.

"Covington" Was a Democrat-Alinsky Op

As if we didn't suspect it already, it is now very clear:  that whole "Covington" thing was a Democrat op from minute one.

Actually started with some Guamian native rabble-rouser, then migrated to a fake Twitter account clearly run by another Alinsky-type.

The MSM simply bought the story, hook/line/sinker and pushed it.  No checking, no on-the-ground who-what-where-why-when--just pushed it.  So yah, they are fools and tools; and so are all the people who believe the MSM.

How Democrats Cheat Big-Time

We all know the Democrats cheat at elections.  In fact, the term should be "STEAL", not 'cheat.'

How bad is it?

Right now, California still cannot answer the question of how many noncitizens its new automatic registration system has put on the voter rolls.

They can't answer because they do not WANT to answer.   If they do, the 'normies' may start a nasty revolution.

"The Will of the People," Tony, Is Republican!

Evers keeps drooling out his propaganda-mantra about 'the will of the people.'

This from a guy who won an election by 40,000 of about 2,750,000 votes cast.

More important:  both the Assembly and the Senate are about 2/3rds Republican.  As any American knows, the Assembly is "the people's house" as Granny Botox reminds us every 10 minutes--so Tony, don't push your line too hard.

And make sure you have your bodyguards around whenever you're near Mandela.

Catholics: Does This Sound Familiar?

I'm not a raving fan of Dreher, who irrationally apostatized.  But apostasy is irrational per se, so....at least he didn't depart because he wanted serial monogamy, as is the case with most of them.

Anyhow, he went to Europe to sell his books.

...What I heard from a number of Spaniards is that the leaders of the Church in their country are mostly weak men who don’t care about standing up to the leftist state, and who don’t care that many Catholic schools are morally and spiritually rotten. Note well: I did not investigate this myself; I am just telling you what I heard over and over. And not just schools: in the Q&A at my talk in Barcelona, a man stood up and said, in English, that I ought to send a case of my book to the Benedictines living in the historic Catalan monastery of Montserrat. I forget his exact words, but it was something to the effect of “they’ve totally lost their way.”

Same thing in Ireland. Not only are the Catholics I talked to furious at their bishops for the abuse scandal, but they regard them as weak men who have been thoroughly intimidated by the post-Christian Irish elites....
Small comfort to know that we are not alone.  I've heard from reliable people that Italy is in the same place, and Germany is far, far, far, worse; think Cdls. Kasper and Marx....

Eh.  Ora et labora, same as before, and it will be the same in 500 years....

The Chicago Way, Chapter 34,660

And away they go.......to the Federal graybar hotel.

Retiring Ald. Danny Solis (25th), the powerful chairman of the City Council’s Zoning Committee, has secretly recorded more than a dozen conversations with Ald. Ed Burke (14th) over the last two years, including at City Hall, to help federal investigators build their corruption case against him, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned....Sun-Times quoted at Second City Cop

Oh, but there's more!!

...And who else is on the wires? Solis was chairman of the City Council's Zoning Committee....

SCC thinks that another alderman, John Arena, will be joining Burke.

No, he's not done yet!

...And we've had more than a few hints that something is brewing up north. This could be getting very interesting.

"Up North" does not refer to Milwaukee.  At least we don't think so,.

$137Bn Missing. What Do Gov't People DO?

So there's this shutdown going on, but normally, there are lots of busy little beavers in the Federal Government, spending, taxing, double-checking, recording, processing, prioritizing, and doing stuff.

Well, maybe not so much recording or double-checking

In fiscal year 2018, $137 billion was paid “improperly” by the federal government, according to a recent report. That number sums all the improper payments by what the government calls high-priority programs....
So remind me, Ms. Pelosi:  what the Hell do these people DO?

Sure, Baldwin Is a Bigot. But Graham?

In the Giampietro dust-up, we noted a long time ago that Tammy Baldwin is a vicious anti-Catholic bigot, probably due to the Church's position on lesbian practices, Tammy's preferred option to just being a dried up old cat lady.

However, it seems that Lindsey Graham, who dances to the tune of "Mares Eat Oats and Does Eat Oats" during the evenings, also abandoned Giampietro.

One suspects that Graham's recent friendliness to Trump is actually counter-espionage; Graham is interested in Trump's demise, but he's trying to be Brutus.

Dear Mr. President: Set Them Free!!

A few hundred thousand Federal employees are trapped in "not-exactly-employment" while Nancy Pelosi holds them hostage.  Many of them are forced to work without being paid--others, deemed non-essential, are caught in a "Do I stay or do I go?" situation.

Mr. President:  SET THEM FREE!!

Begin the process for permanent RIF statusAllow these poor slaves of Pelosi to look for employment so they may feed their families and pay their bills.

Lincoln did it.  So can YOU!!

Evers, the Back-and-Forthright Governor

Tony Evers has reversed himself so many times that he now resembles Foghorn Leghorn, the politician from the old Pogo comic strip.

Foghorn advertised himself as "The Back-and-Forthright" candidate.

Evers fits that--except he's scrawny compared to ol' Foghorn.

Trump Nails It With Paul Ryan

Apparently DJT was fed up with Ryan's smarmy flapjaw.

President Donald Trump once savaged then-House Speaker Paul Ryan in an angry phone call, questioning his loyalty and telling him "Democrats have been kicking your a-- for decades," a new book about the Trump White House says....

... "Paul, do you know why Democrats have been kicking your a-- for decades? Because they know a little word called 'loyalty,'" Trump reportedly told Ryan. "Why do you think Nancy [Pelosi] has held on this long? Have you seen her? She’s a disaster. Every time she opens her mouth another Republican gets elected. But they stick with her."...

After he cried for a while, Ryan decided to retire.

Nancy's Union Acting Like Thugs. Surprised?

Pelosi, who is now looking demented, has issued instructions to the union:  act up, hurt people.

The National Treasury Employees Union on Tuesday said Internal Revenue Service (IRS) worker absences are expected to surge amid the partial government shutdown...Hundreds of IRS employees will likely skip work as part of a coordinated protest as the shutdown continues into its fourth week, National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) President Tony Reardon and other union officials told the Post.

This action was hatched by Pelosi and other Congressional slimebuckets.  IRS workers are heavily politicized (see, Lerner, Lois).

Well, if it's escalation they want............

Rioting in Caracas, Venezuela. Good!! UPDATED

It looks as though the dictator Maduro will soon be gone, whether alive or dead.

...Following this week's military mutiny, which was squelched, but not before locals ran out and attempted to defend the troops in pitched street battles, now at least sixty – sixty! – neighborhoods in Caracas have erupted into riots – big riots, with people reported shot dead. ...
Didn't see that in the "Nooz", did you?  I know--because I just checked.  It ain't there.  UPDATE:  WaPo has an item up.

Anyhow.  The opposition-party leader has declared himself President; Brazil refuses to recognize Maduro as the President, and although ONE military revolt was quashed, there's plenty more military where they came from....

UPDATE 2:  Venezuela has tossed out  US Embassy personnel after the US recognized the opposition party leader as President.  Reuters (reliably Marxist) says the problem is "hyperinflationary economic collapse."

Phrased more clearly:  too much Occasional- Cortex economics.

Will the Real Abp. Kurtz Stand Up?

Two stories about Abp. Kurtz of Kentucky.

Here, the Abp. 'stands with Bp. Foys....condemning the actions of the Covington Catholic students...'

But we turn to another story for this:

...Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, the bishops’ religious-liberty chairman and head of the Archdiocese of Louisville, Ky., noted current political and judicial attacks on U.S. Catholics and said, “This threat is not abstract. It is real.”...

Yes, indeed, Excellency.  The threat is real, and often comes from Bishops and Archbishops.

Didn't We See This Movie Already?

Cadged from the middle of a serious item about Spain:

...while Spain plays nice with Putin, it is also threatening America's closest ally, Britain. The Spanish Navy is escalating its intrusion into British territorial waters surrounding Gibraltar....

Well, then:  call up Drake and Howard!!

Twelve Years Left!! Bucket-List Time!!

Occasional Cortex has declared that there are only 12 years remaining, citing the utterly-credible United Nations as her source.

Only 12 years before Global Warming incinerates Earth.  Or something.

So what's on YOUR bucket list, dead-men-walking?

Nathan Phillips Is a Fraud, Mandela

Our Leftenant-Governor (yes, that's an acceptable pronunciation!) throws the truth into the toilet to make some sort of point.

...“Because unfortunately America can still be a mob of high school students wearing red hats, inspired by what they see in the nation’s highest office,” Barnes said. “The audacity of surrounding and taunting a native American Vietnam war veteran.”

Barnes then repeated the name of the man involved in the conflict, Nathan Phillips, three times, calling him an American hero. In the additional reporting, Phillips acknowledged that it was he who first approached the students. Barnes then said, “the audacity of those high school children yelling ‘build the wall’ is convenient ignorance.”...
"Ignorance" is a property with which you are intimately familiar, Lefty-Gov.

Phillips is a fraud.  He is NOT a Vietnam veteran.

He is not a "hero".  He is a political grifter-opportunist with a noisy little drum.

"Audacious ignorance", Mandela.  Own it.

On Kamala-Toe Harris

Sure, I stole her moniker from JJSefton at Ace.

This babe has zero morals and ethics.  Just co-incidence that she's a prosecutor-lawyer like John Chisholm of Milwaukee.  Oh, and the Charlie Sykes crowd likes her.  Perfect!

...As attorney general, Lara Bazelon wrote recently in the New York Times, Harris “fought tooth and nail to uphold wrongful convictions that had been secured through official misconduct that included evidence tampering, false testimony and the suppression of crucial information by prosecutors.” This fits with her more recent behavior.

Harris was also fond of overcriminalization. She supported legislation that would jail the parents of truant children. She strongly opposed criminal justice reform measures throughout her tenure in California. She also supported the Golden State’s unconstitutional law muzzling crisis pregnancy centers, which the Supreme Court struck down last year as a clear violation of the First Amendment and an attempt to criminalize the moral and political viewpoints of others....

We won't bother to get into her behavioral issues back in her days with Willie Brown.  Let's hope that she is the (D) nominee instead.

No Mention of Mandated Coverages Here!!

The JS runs a mid-length article about how AWFUL the Republican 'pre-existing conditions' bill is here in Wisconsin, and how--if ObozoCare is struck down--premiums will skyrocket.

Throughout the entire article, there is NO mention of the ObozoCare mandated coverages (such as forcing men to pay for pregnancy coverage for themselves), nor of the "level premium" requirement between 24-year-olds and 58-year-olds.  There is a passing reference to the ObozoCare requirement that there will be no 'lifetime cap' on benefits, and there is NO mention of the insanely high premiums/deductibles/copays for existing ObozoCare packages.

In other words, the JS' "coverage" isn't really "coverage".  It's a "Conservatives Bad/ObozoCare Good" propaganda piece.

Who'da thunk??

"Bad Fuel" In Your Snowblower?

News report just now advises that if your snowblower doesn't start, it may be due to "bad fuel," because "fuel deteriorates after 45 days" or so.

Nope.

Well--not if you buy actual REAL GASOLINE!!  Get over to Jefferson or Dodge County, where the Feds have not screwed over the population by making them burn corn (and get those stupid 'emissions tests').

I've used 8-10 month old REAL GASOLINE with no problems at all.  Engines pop right over and start in only a few pulls/cycles.

Living without the Federal Government is inexpensive and rather easy.  If only, eh?

Hey, Chisholm!! RAID the Bishops at 4 AM!!

John Chisholm tries to revive his disgraceful career.  To do that, he's going to pick on the Catholics.

Gee, John!!  Why don't you get some SWAT teams and armored cars, and slam through the residence doors of the Bishops of Wisconsin?

Worked real well for you last time, except for the 5 or 6 (or 10-20) court orders to shut down your BS "probe."

You know you should have been run out of town on a rail--or put into prison--for your Little Adventure, John.  You should resign in shame rather than play games with the Bishops.

And--as you may know--I am NO FAN of the Bishops.  But you're just so evil, so depraved, that even the Bishops look good in comparison, John.

That "Racist Catholic Boys" Narrative? Not So Fast....

The Narrative is this:  Pro-Life, Catholic boys' High School kids sneer and jeer at Elder Native American who Merely Begs for Peace.

Why sure, if you think truth overflows and spills from the lips of CNN/MSNBC 'reporters'.

But why the Hell would you think that??

How about the other half of this story, eh?

You can go to this link to see a 2-page text from an eye-witness to the ENTIRE event, or you can read my very brief summary.

The kids were told to meet at the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30 for their bus-pickup and while gathered there, they decided to do some school cheers.  One of them was wearing a "MAGA" hat.  During their cheering, a group of (apparently) Native Americans pushed and shoved their way through the group and one of them confronted, nose-to-nose, a student.  (He is the student who is grinning in the widely-circulated picture, and that is perfectly normal for a kid who doesn't know how to react to a confrontation, folks.  Been there, done that, a long, long, time ago.)

At the link (above) there are links to videos showing the entire event--not just the parts that the race-baiter Indians and Press want you to see.

Sometime in the near future, someone else will pull a shit-show-stunt like that Indian "elder" did and he will wind up with his face ground into the concrete.

UPDATE:  Althouse agrees that CNN's story is bullshit.

NPR Found A Suffering Shutdown Victim!

Yes, today marks my weekly excursion into the Alternative Universe that is NPR.

They sent out a reporter-ette to find someone who was suffering from the Evil Donald's shutdown, and found a woman who works for IRS as a tax examiner.

Since I was driving, I didn't pay rapt attention to the story, but it seems that the woman has 'mental conditions,' like depression which were in place long before the shutdown.  Those conditions gave her lots of opportunity to sing her Sad Song About the Awfulness.\

Gee!  Sleepless nights, hitting the local Catholic food-pantry, skipping insurance and car payments....just like LOTS of people did during the Great Recession of '08-'14.....yes, I can sympathize.  Of course, LOTS of the Great Recession victims went out and found jobs--maybe part-time, lower-paying, odd-hours stuff, but it was cashflow........

Not this woman.  So she was perfect for NPR and the continuing saga of Orange Man Bad.

"Ancestry DNA"? FooFooDust

Gee.  Who'da Thunk??

Last spring, Marketplace host Charlsie Agro and her twin sister, Carly, bought home kits from AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, 23andMe, FamilyTreeDNA and Living DNA, and mailed samples of their DNA to each company for analysis.

Despite having virtually identical DNA, the twins did not receive matching results from any of the companies....

A Ph.D. at Yale was consulted on this; he found it difficult to suppress his laughter.

You can pay for this foofoodust at your own risk.  And remember that these jackals will be selling your DNA to the highest bidder, too.

Look!! More RUSSIANS!!!!

Looks as though Trump is not the only undercover Russki in the US.

All those damn HOMESCHOOLERS are playing footsie with Putin, the KGB, and the Red Army!!  Pretty soon they'll memorize the vocal score to Alexander Nevsky in RUSSIAN!!  And they'll be looking at Russian porn like Swan Lake, with those tight-body-fitting outfits, yah.  And maybe they'll have to study Solzhenitsyn.

Oh, we got trouble, right here in River City, with a capital "T" and that rhymes with "P" which stands for..................Putin!!

....The group and its origins sound innocuous enough. But the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) — a right-wing group founded 36 years ago — has deepened connections between America’s religious right and Russians even as the latter have been sanctioned by the United States, according to a ThinkProgress investigation.

By networking with Russians, the HSLDA — now America’s largest right-wing homeschooling association — has provided the Kremlin with a new avenue of influence over some of the most conservative organizations in the United States....
Some say and think that the Right is filled with conspiracy theorists.  Uh-huh......

Georgetown U.'s Not-Very-Bright Students

You know that Georgetown U, a Jesuit college, is very, very selective in its admissions policy.  It also provides a large number of Fed Gov lawyers, Fed agency-worker-bee/bureaucrats, and Congressional detritus and rot.

So when you also know that G.U. students can't define "toxic masculinity,".....well, Houston, we have a problem.

It's funny, except it's not.

Some Daddies should be hiding their faces, ain'a?

Big-Spender Nancy

We are reminded that Nancy Pelosi flies first-class at taxpayer expense.

And it is one Hell of an expense.

..."Judicial Watch previously uncovered that Pelosi’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over one two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol," said the watchdog group in its press release. ...

$1 million/year, mostly to fly home and back.

And we never even got a "Thank-You" card from that old prune.

Now They're Begging For a Disaster

This should not come as a surprise.

...Washington is at an impasse that looks increasingly unbreakable. President Donald Trump is dug in; so is Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Democrats have public opinion on their side, but the president is focused on his conservative base. For a deal to shake loose in this environment, it may require a failure of government so dramatic, so shocking, as to galvanize public outrage and force the two parties back to the negotiating table.
In these interviews, I heard an array of macabre hypotheticals—from airplane crashes to food-safety scares, TSA strikes to terrorist incidents. But the one theme that ran through every conversation was a sense that the current political dynamics won’t change until voters get a lot angrier.

“This is all pageantry,” a Democratic House aide said of the posturing by Trump and Congress. “It’s going to take a big national event to move things. I mean, we’re at a standstill.”...

So the Democrats and the MSM (BIRM) are asking for someone--anyone--in Gummint to create or allow a cataclysm.

Will that get Pelosi off her ass?

Tony's Tax-Light Tokers

Our newbie Governor thinks medical grass is great, and the new AG--a suspiciously metro-sexual sort of lawyer--really likes the idea of legalizing Mary Jane for recreation.

They'll both talk fast about "State tax revenue enhancement."

Uh-huh.

$1 billion: that’s how much California initially anticipated receiving in annual tax revenue by legalizing the sale of recreational marijuana. Here’s what actually happened:

CA will likely bring in just under $500 million in marijuana tax revenue this fiscal year. That’s lower than the $630 million forecasted in former Governor Jerry Brown’s budget. Current Governor Gavin Newsom’s new budget projects the state will generate $355 million in marijuana excise taxes by the end of June according to press accounts.
There are MANY other reasons NOT to legalize weed.

Tony's Tax-Light Tokers are just one of them.

Little Benny Shapiro Doesn't Get "Manhood"

Shapiro, a cute cuck, responds to Trump's surprise cancellation of Nancy's Boondoggle

I don't get the logic of Trump denying Pelosi her trip. Why not just point out that her trip will require massive logistical support — and that she'll get it — and that she's obviously lying about SOTU?

Because, silly boy, if she leaves town there will be NO negotiations on the Wall.

And there's a bonus:  Nancy gets owned, but good.

A Stink in Oconomowoc

It's fair to say that I've never been totally comfortable with the Oconomowoc Area School District.  For a C-grade-level district (per State of Wisconsin test-score records) it spends a lot of money and makes a lot of "We're Really Great" noise.  Elmbrook doesn't spend as much and has a helluva lot better academic grade from the State.

Now there may be even more problems.  A 17-year veteran of the School Board points a finger at another member of the Board (Dan Raasch) who also happens to be a past President of the local Teachers' Union.

I'll provide a link as the PDF formatting really, really, really dislikes Blogger.

Sandy Shick is the member of the Board who questions some activities of Raasch.  She notes that Raasch sent notes to a number of area teachers (and some teachers outside of the District) endorsing THREE candidates for the Board.  The question Shick asks is this:  how did Raasch obtain those names (including spouse names) and addresses?  And who paid for all that?

She also mentions that Raasch seems to have colluded with WEAC Insurance (the State Teachers' Union insurance provider) to ensure that WEAC was the successful bidder on an insurance renewal package.

WEAC was well-known for slimy practices both at the bargaining table and in its insurance business, so nothing would surprise me.  On the other hand, we're not at "indictment"-level here.

But it sure does beg for a 3rd-party investigation, doesn't it?

Trump: "Go F... Yourself, Nancy"

Ah.....you have dirty minds.

Trump said (not so many words):  Go FLY Yourself, Nancy!

BWAAAAAHAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!

....President Trump on Thursday appeared to deny military aircraft to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for an upcoming foreign trip, in response to her call to delay the State of the Union address amid the government shutdown.

In a stinging and curt letter, Trump said her trip has been “postponed.”

He wrote: “Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. We will reschedule this seven-day excursion when the Shutdown is over. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate. I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown. Obviously, if you would like to make your journey by flying commercial, that would certainly be your prerogative.”....
Shorter version:  put your trip where the Sun never shines, Nanny.

I love a good bitch-slap, don't you?

The Horror That Is California

You all know that a blackrobe in California voided Trump's regulation on birth-control and abortion (thus forcing the Little Sisters of the Poor to cover those for themselves.)

But that story is not merely the typical 'fruits and nuts California' story.

...In its arguments leading up to the judge’s decision, the state of California made a very disgusting argument as to why President Trump’s pro-life protections must be overturned and why residents of the Golden State and America must be forced to pay for abortion drugs.

According to California and its attorney general, babies are just too darn expensive — so more babies either need to be killed in abortion or prevented from being born through contraception....
Well, OK, then.  If California thinks babies are expensive, wait until California finds out how expensive life is without a generation or two which pays California taxes.

Parsing Vatican "Statements" Like Clinton "Statements"

Here in the USA, we had the Clintons, who taught us how to parse statements.

So when the Vatican issues a statement like this:

The February summit is intended to help bishops “clearly understand what they need to do to prevent and combat the worldwide problem of the sexual abuse of minors,” the Vatican said Wednesday
....we know that the Vatican used the term "minors" because some of the problem involves abuse of NON-MINORS.  Like seminary students, for example, who are being groomed to be homosexual playthings by bishops.

By the way, it's interesting that we now read Clinton and Vatican statements the same way, no?

Lefty Double-Talk on Tariffs and Taxes

Gotta love the left-o-liars, right?

Today, Bloomberg News announced that 'tariffs on Chinese goods are paid by US consumers.'

No kidding, really?

They also announce that 'tariffs are taxes' on US consumers.

No kidding, really??

And as a wrap-up, they found someone to tell us that, while the Gummint has increased tariff revenues by $3Bn in the first quarter, tariffs cost even more because 'farm aid'.  (Naturally, they forgot all about re-opened steel and aluminum mills here, which pay taxes, and forgot about all those steelworkers and aluminum workers who ALSO pay taxes.)

But there's something else......

The Wackdoodle-Left Occasional-Cortex types want much higher taxes on eeeeeeeeeeeeevil Corporations.

Who's going to pay that tax?

Remember:  they see tariffs as "taxes" and US consumers PAY those "taxes."  But you're NEVER going to hear that US consumers will pay those corporate taxes from the Left.

Yes, it's double-talk.  It's what they do.

Wm. Barr: Statist Extraordinaire, Not Qualified!

Earlier we mentioned that Wm. Barr, an ash-heap relic of the GHWBush Administration, is not to be trusted on Second Amendment matters.

As it turns out, he's not to be trusted by American citizens, period--because when it's FBI and U S Marshals or mothers holding infants, Barr will work like Hell for the FBI or Marshals.

Just in case you don't remember why Trump was elected, here's a brief tour through the Bad Old Days of Establishment Republican Government--which looks a helluva lot like Establishment Democrat Government (Waco, anyone?)

It involves dead civilians and protected Government agents It's the Ruling Class redux.

The Feds entrapped Randy Weaver on a weapons charge, then moved in to take him.  They killed his 14-y-o son in the woods on Weaver's property, then a sniper took out Weaver's wife who was holding her infant in a doorway.  They also shot Weaver--in the back--but he survived.

Classy, eh?

It gets better:

After an Idaho jury found Weaver not guilty on almost all charges, federal judge Edward Lodge slammed the Justice Department and FBI for concealing evidence and showing “a callous disregard for the rights of the defendants and the interests of justice.” A Justice Department internal investigation compiled a 542-page report detailing federal misconduct and coverups in the case and suggested criminal charges against FBI officials involved in Ruby Ridge.

Dead mother?  Rogue FBI and Marshals?  Too bad, so sad.  And there's more!!

The Justice Department paid $3 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit from the Weaver family. But when Boundary County, Idaho filed criminal charges against Horiuchi [the Feeb sniper], Barr sprang to action seeking immunity for FBI snipers. He spearheaded efforts to sway the court to dismiss all charges because holding a sniper liable would “severely undermine, if not cripple, the ability of future attorneys general to rely on such specialized units in moments of crisis such as hostage taking and terrorist acts.”

Some good questions here:

[Appeals Judge] Kozinski, writing for the majority, declared: “A group of FBI agents formulated rules of engagement that permitted their colleagues to hide in the bushes and gun down men who posed no immediate threat.  Such wartime rules are patently unconstitutional for a police action.”
Does William Barr still endorse “wartime rules” and a “007 standard” that absolve federal agents for questionable shootings of Americans?  Does Barr consider “illegal government killings” to be an oxymoron? Best of all, can Barr explain to us his understanding of the phrase “government under the law”?

Who told Trump to put this guy up as the nominee?  And why did Trump take THAT advice?

Regardless of that, here's betting that Barr will be confirmed with a lop-sided vote including a bunch of Democrats.  Barr IS the Revenge of the Ruling Class, folks.

Muscle Car? We GOT Muscle!!

Deliver State of Union Over TeeVee!

The President can deliver the State of the Union address on television and mail a hard-copy to Nancy and Chuckles.

That way Nancy won't be risking her life by occupying a chair in the House, and the President will be able to say what he wants to say.

Stakes Raised to "Nuclear" in Shutdown War UPDATED

Now HERE'S something of great interest.

In only five more days of the already "longest government shutdown in history" (25 days and counting, as of today), a heretofore obscure threshold will be reached, enabling permanent layoffs of bureaucrats furloughed 30 days or more.
Don't believe me that federal bureaucrats can be laid off? Well, in bureaucratese, a layoff is called a RIF – a Reduction in Force – and of course, it comes with a slew of civil service protections. But, if the guidelines are followed, bureaucrats can be laid off – as in no more job....

Well, there's a target-rich environment out there, no?

Pelosi/Schumer are going to be under extreme pressure in 10 days or less; the last thing they want is RIF'd Government-employee Democrat Co-operators.

I doubt that Trump gives a flying fart about them.

HT:  Grim (appropriate, eh??)

UPDATE:  It may take a little more work to get to "RIF" status.

Ginsburg Cancels Appearances

This doesn't look good for Ginsburg.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has canceled a planned public appearance in Los Angeles set two weeks from now on January 29 due to her recuperating from lung cancer surgery....

One wonders which nominee has the stones exhibited by Kavanaugh during his lynching.

UPDATE:  now two cancellations.  Next one in NYC early February

Evers: "My Way or the Highway" on Pre-Existings

The wannabee-dictator Evers doesn't like the Republican pre-existing conditions plan.

Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday signaled skepticism of a bill lawmakers are advancing that requires health coverage for people with pre-existing conditions on some — but not all — health plans.   ...

The bill requires health plans and self-insured governmental plans to cover pre-existing conditions and not charge higher premiums for patients' with such health histories, should the Affordable Care Act be overturned.

But the bill does not go as far as the ACA because it can't. Self-funded plans regulated by federal law cannot be regulated by state laws....

Tony doesn't have a real good grasp of the Constitution.  But that won't stop him.

Bill Barr: Just Another Bush Twit

Trump reclaimed this guy Bill Barr from the ash-heap of George HW Bush's administration, and it shows.  I wonder what the Hell is the matter with Trump's 'personnel selection' button.

Responding to Feinstein:

..."I think that the problem of our time is to get an effective system in place that can keep dangerous firearms out of the hands of mentally ill people," Barr replied.... "And I also think we need to push along the ERPOs (Extreme Risk Protection Orders), so we have these red flag laws to supplement the use of the background check to find out if someone has some mental disturbance. This is the single most important thing I think we can do in the gun control area to stop these massacres from happening in the first place."...
He's another D.C. Idiot--but he's happy to telegraph the Hot New Gun-Grabber Meme:  "ERPO".

That's the notion that the State must take your guns when a pissed-off ex-wife calls the cops and tells them that you are nuts and will harm yourself or others.

But you don't have to piss off your ex-wife.  ANYBODY can tell the cops that you're wacko and find a black-robe to issue a court order.

LA Teachers Strike All About "Choice"

Noted:  the L A teachers' union will screw the students to the wall over charter schools--the rough equivalent of "choice" schools in Wisconsin.

Oh, and yes, the teachers demand more money, too.

How Mueller Corrupted the FBI

Reminder:  Mueller ran the FBI for 12 years; Comey succeeded him.  Thus, we have 15+ years of utter corruption at the very top, which has a great deal to do with the corruption throughout the entrire outfit.

How did Mueller manage to destroy the FBI?

Mueller implemented an “up or out” policy where all SSAs were required to move to DC and do Headquarters time or lose their GS 14 pay grade. This policy change by Mueller purposely targeted the most senior Agents in the FBI who had finally earned the right to move their family to a medium sized office in fly over country, had teenage kids and were living a comfortable life.

Mueller knew these Agents would not uproot their families and move to DC. Hundreds of these senior Agents immediately retired. Literally thousands of years of investigative experience left the FBI overnight.

This is exactly what Mueller wanted. These were the men and women who would have called Mueller out when he started transforming the FBI from a criminal investigative organization into a domestic intelligence organization (it is illegal to collect intelligence on American citizens).

Mueller immediately began filling the ranks with Strozk/Page types. The FBI does extensive psychological screening of applicants. Stroke and Page are self interested, well-educated cowards whose only motivation is their own promotion and paycheck. In other words they are people who will be blindly loyal to the Agency and will obey any order no matter how un-Constitutional or unlawful. This is the psychological profile that Mueller and Comey actively recruited and hired.

On the flip-side, combat veterans, patriots, have been denied employment by the FBI at all costs (they all mysteriously fail the polygraph and background check).
Simple.  Screw the seniors, hire only toadies.

Low Taxes?? RoadBuilders Will Fix That!!

Maybe the RoadBuilders have kids going to college, thus an insatiable appetite for MO' MONEY!!

So they trot out George Mitchell to yammer and fuss about the Road Crisis.  You know that Crisis, when your car falls into the gaping holes on the Interstate or State highways and disappears, or when all the bridges fall down just as you are crossing them.

Yah, THAT "crisis."

You mean you haven't noticed??  Shame on you!!

Having put on over 25,000 miles on Wisconsin and Upper Midwestern roads in the last year or so, I have not seen, nor felt, the Road Decay and Destruction about which Mitchell vaguely imprecates.

So now that Wisconsin's tax burden is at a 50-year low (after 50 years of raping taxpayers), the RoadBuilders are ready to fix that problem!!  How about a nice new dollar-a-gallon gasoline tax??  How about automatic annual increases in the gas tax?  RoadBuilders need to eat well and buy politicians, too!!

Mitchell is not above trickery and deceit in his essays, by the way.

From 2010 through 2018 — a period of GOP control — the share of state taxes and fees devoted to transportation declined 15 per cent.
"Taxes and fees," but not borrowing.  During that period, Wisconsin:

  • rebuilt the downtown Milwaukee interchange,
  • rebuilt rebuilt the Zoo interchange,
  • rebuilt Bluemound Rd. from 124th St to Hy. 18,
  • rebuilt damn near all of Hy. 41 (now an interstate) between Fond du Lac and Green Bay,
  • is currently rebuilding I-94 from the State line to Milwaukee County,
  • and Hy. 441 across the north side of Appleton.
  • Oh, and by the way, it's also re-building I-39 from Janesville to the State line.
It should be clear that the RoadBuilders and the State Department of Transportation consume and spend borrowed dollars just as well as taxed dollars.  See the above bullets again if you don't get it.

Mitchell and his underwriters (see above) cry, wail, and moan that the State stopped automaton-gas tax-rape of its citizens in 2005 and then gas-tax revenues slowed down.  Mitchell doesn't mention the reason:  the longest recession in US history--because Mitchell and the RoadBuilders don't really give a flying damn about YOUR problems, you see.

And he buries the fact that gas-tax revenues are STILL large enough to build a lot of roads (like the practically unused Hy. 26 south of Jefferson, or the practically unused Hy. 16 west of Oconomowoc....).  See, only HALF the gas-tax revenue can be used to build or fix roads.

The poor babies....

As far as Mitchell and his donors the RoadBuilders are concerned, paving over the entire State, including the Wisconsin River, is the goal, and ass-raping Wisconsin drivers is the method.

Don't fall for it.
