Redistricting Warning to SCOWI

 The US Supreme Court issued a decision which should warn the WackyWoozyWimmins of the Wisconsin Supreme Court about their redistricting crusade.

The warning?  DON'T.

 

A divided Supreme Court on Thursday came to the rescue of Texas Republicans, allowing next year’s elections to be held under the state’s congressional redistricting plan favorable to the GOP and pushed by President Donald Trump despite a lower-court ruling that the map likely discriminates on the basis of race.

With conservative justices in the majority, the court acted on an emergency request from Texas for quick action because qualifying in the new districts already has begun, with primary elections in March....

... The justices cast doubt on the lower-court finding that race played a role in the new map, saying in an unsigned statement that Texas lawmakers had “avowedly partisan goals.”...

IOW, redistricting is just fine if it is partisan. Too bad if there may be "racial" effects, too--because after all, the US Constitution requires that we be color-blind, but not free of partisan inclinations.

Affordable Care Act subsidies have been granted, without the required documentation, to 90% of fictitious applicants over the last two years, according to a damning government watchdog report released Wednesday. 

The Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) preliminary findings of ongoing and covert testing of Obamacare found “fraud risks” in the federal ACA marketplace, specifically related to the healthcare program’s advance premium tax credit – a subsidy Democrats shut down the government over last month in a failed effort to extend the tax credit for three more years. 

“The federal Marketplace approved coverage for nearly all of GAO’s fictitious applicants in plan years 2024 and 2025, generally consistent with similar GAO testing in plan years 2014 through 2016,” according to the government watchdog. ...

Easy as 1-2-3!!

Who is Washington sending to Brussels instead? Deputy Secretary Christopher Landau. The same official who wrote “NATO is still a solution in search of a problem” before deleting the post. 

The message could not be clearer. Since 1949, NATO operated on one principle: collective decision-making. Thirty-two nations, one voice. That architecture died this week.  ...

No, pal.  It was dead a long time ago, but there was so much money involved--for certain interests and from US taxpayers--that the dead horse kept kicking for a while.  Bush the Dumber and the Democrat Grift Machine never cared for that silly old G. Washington's advice about 'entangling alliances.'  He's dead, ya'know??

Let Europe defend Europe.  We have our own hemisphere to worry about. 

Striped-Pants Boy Is BIG MAD Over Trump

Some has-been State Department twit is BIG MAD that Trump is not going to spend 24 months negotiating a 'peace deal' in Ukraine.

See, if it were the State Department, there would be approximately 125 personnel employed in the task instead of 3-4.  And it  would take State about 2 years to get it done--meaning that the pension credits clock would be running for quite some time.  And let's not forget that after the "deal" is done, another 50 or so State employees would have to "monitor" events.  Oh, yes!!!  There will be a US Embassy in Kiev, too--meaning another 200-300 State employees.

You can see that the Striped-Pants Twit is thinking only of  peace, right??? 

So he pisses and moans to a very sympathetic Napolitano, who was turned down for a court-reporter job by Trump several years ago on the basis of Bad Hair. 

Will Lower Fed Rates Help US Debt?

It seems that some Intertube Trump-haters think that when the Fed lowers rates, the rates on US bonds will drop.

Wrong.  A thousand times wrong.

US bond interest rates are determined only by bond-buyers, not the Fed.  If a bond buyer thinks he needs more interest to make up for perceived risk, he will refuse to buy the bond until he gets the discount he wants.  That discount makes "the rate."

The Fed has nothing to do with that.  The Fed's rate scheme has only to do with its own lending to banks--which affects rates offered to borrowers for such as cars, personal loans, and--indirectly--mortgages.

One could argue that there is a slight knock-on effect between lowering Fed rates and the US bond market, but finding and measuring that effect is beyond the scope of this post (and we don't really care, anyway.)

Wrong for leaving:  A belief that former followers are always wrong for leaving and there is never a legitimate reason for anyone else to leave.

Abuse of members.

Isolation—Members are cut off from friends, family, and their previous support systems, and may be punished for leaving.

Excessive loyalty—There is an absolute, unwavering devotion to the leader or group, where skepticism is seen as disloyalty.

Demeaning outside life—The cult’s ideology devalues or dishonors the family unit and the outside world.

Love bombing—New members are initially showered with excessive attention and affection, which may be withdrawn if they question the group.

Ostracization for dissent—Individuals who express doubt or disagree with the group’s beliefs are ostracized or punished.
