Apparently Francis I knows less about human nature than he does about self-defense.
Saying “superficial” marriage preparation programs leave many couples at risk of having invalid marriages or unprepared to cope with the struggles that arise in every marriage, Pope Francis endorsed suggestions for a yearlong “marriage catechumenate” drafted by the Dicastery for Laity, the Family and Life....
Given what we know about the state of chastity in the West, Francis apparently wants heroic virtue from engaged couples. That's fine, I suppose.
But what about the Intelligent Play: A 'marriage catechumenate' which lasts a year but begins 3 or 6 months prior to the wedding date and then for a few months afterwards?
What--you think maybe they won't show up for the remainder of their 'lessons' like they don't show up for weekly Mass?
Huh. Could 'not showing up for Mass' have something to do with the divorce rate, Francis??
