Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, said
Sunday that his new budget includes the repeal of President Obama’s
health-care reform law known as ObamaCare.
Ryan told “Fox News Sunday” that the new proposal will make enough cuts
to balance the federal budget in 10 years, compared to his previous one
that tried to achieve that goal in 25 years.
Well, maybe. Or maybe not. Or maybe not quite, almost, sorta:
...Ryan said the focus of the ObamaCare repeal would be to stop the expansion of Medicaid, the federal program that provides medical services to low-income U.S. families.
“Our budget does promote repealing ObamaCare and replacing it with a
better system,” said Ryan, who did not say whether his 2014 budget is
based on a full repeal.

Ryan said his proposal attempts to reach a balanced budget, in part, by
slowing the rate of federal spending from 4.9 percent to 3.4 percent....

Only 3.4%/annum? ONLY?
GDP hasn't grown at TWO percent for the last few years. Is Paul Ryan telling us that GDP will be >3.4% over the next 10 years?
Or is he telling us that he'a a modified-limited-hangout kinda Gummint guy?

Uh. He's telling you that he has a magic wand that can cut federal spending from 4.9% GDP to 3.4% and grow the economy by over 3.4% at the same time.
IOW, Ryan continues to believe that contractionary fiscal policy is expansionary. Ya know, 1-1=2 apparently. But this shouldn't be surprising to anyone. Ryan's shown over and over that things like reality and simple math are not his strengths.
Only a Keynesian-KoolAde-er could say that Fed wild-ass spending is contractionary.
And to add to it, the very same one goes on to imply that Fed spending is the only way to "grow the economy."
This thread has become difficult already. GDP is a rate of change, Dadster. Fed. spending/GDP is shrinking so it's providing a drag to GDP.
And think long and hard before you tell me that Gov. spending shouldn't be a component of GDP. Because I'm that's the next lane you'll choose.
