The oil industry has a choice.
Either invest in America by lowering prices for consumers at the pump and increasing production and refining capacity.
Or pay a higher tax on your excessive profits and face other restrictions.
We all know that 'increasing production/refining' is solely dependent on FedGov regulation. Threats to the industry that it will be replaced by EuroWeenie pixie-dust solar/windmills in 10 years do not make sense in light of the required 30-year++ payback time needed for refining and fracking/drilling.
And we also know that "excessive profits taxes" resulted in less production and higher prices at the pump the last time they were tried, back in the Carter era. Oh--by the way--the "excess profits tax" produced only 25% of the expected revenues.
But Biden's tweet looks good to Laura Halbert of Watertown, WI. That's all that counts!
