Psacki thinks that the American consumer is pretty damned stupid.
Oh. In her 'mind' (loosely speaking), the money-creation of the Fed since George Bush rescued the Big Banks, GM, and Chrysler has nothing to do with it. But we digress.
..."Well, it requires us explaining, and through working with all of you as well, that the cost of meat is also related to competition and the small number of large meat producers who have a dominance over the market, and the fact that a lot of these issues are not as simple as a one sentence explanation, and that different industries have different issues in the supply chains, different issues that are causing some increases in prices, and also because we all understand the American people are not looking at cost-to-cost comparisons from this year to two years ago, they’re looking at cost-to-cost comparisons to their checkbooks from 8 months ago or 12 months ago. And even though factually, if you look back to two years ago, things may be comparative, that's not how people look at things. So, our objective here is to tackle each of these issues with the approach that we think will help address it in the shortest term." ...
The paucity of 'meat producers' is directly related to the cost of Federal and State regulatory burdens which require large capital investments AND large legal staff support.
But P-sacki knows that.
As to 'different issues,' well, let's look at energy. The day he took office, Biden* began shutting down gas and oil production and exploration in the US. When supply gets smaller, prices get higher. The demand side for energy popped, too, as restrictions on movement went away. Higher demand, lower supply.
But P-sacki knows that.
In September 2019, the Consumer Price Index (all-urban areas) stood at 256.759. THIS September, it came in at 274.310. With our pre-CRT math training, we think that is an increase.
But P-sacki knows that, too.
So do a lot of Mama Bears trying to feed, clothe, house, and transport their children. P-sacki is well-advised to know that, too. For her own safety.
