The DOOM DOOM DOOM headlines and essays showing up in the last couple of years just so happen to coincide with the installation of Joe Biden and his mob of totalitarian grifters. The anti-nation globalists in the UN and the WEF are convinced that the US apple is about to fall from the tree now that Trump is gone. So The Narrative is propagated.
But those damned facts......
Think you're going to die from an "extreme" weather event? Not likely. Since the year 1920, such deaths have decreased from 500,000/year to about 12,000/year worldwide. "Events" include floods, droughts, storms, wildfires, and extreme temperatures--both hot and cold.
Didn't hear that, did you?
So now that we're done with the YOU'RE GONNA DIE!!!! crapola, let's talk about economic facts.
Did you know that England was using 'renewable' energy until the early 1800's? Yup. They burned wood, cow-dung, and some garbage. Why did 'renewables' lose favor? Same reason they're not loved today: they are grossly inefficient and unreliable. (The fact that windmills are having serious reliability issues is a very recent problem that isn't going to 'get better' soon.)
Now the Weather Grifters propose to go "net-zero" emissions by 2050. Not likely to happen. The Chinese Communists will not participate, nor will India, nor Africa. The first two are serious goods-producers, meaning "factories", which means "lots of energy consumption."
Want to reduce emissions by 20%? Every living American will shell out $75.00/year. That's not a ridiculous price--but wait.....
For a 40%? About $500.00 per person. Family of four is $2,000.00/year, every year.
How about 60%? $2,000/person per year. Family? $8,000.00.
Solutions? Well, the EU policy (2020) spends $1.00 to get three cents' benefit in climate change worldwide. The Paris Accords gets eleven cents in benefit for a $1.00 spend.
On the other hand, a well-designed carbon tax delivers more in benefit than it costs (!) BUT.......every single country in the world has to impose it at the same time and rate--and all the Grifter Cash for windmills and sun-catchers has to go away, too.
Think that'll happen?
Yah, nope.
