About That "Emergency" Cutback in Natural Gas

If you think that last week's "emergency" cutback request from Wisconsin Energies (WE) is just a fluke because of some supplier's sloppy Periodic Maintenance of its valves, you're wrong.

WRONG.

WE has shut down some of its coal-fired plants and will eliminate all the rest by late 2026.  Coal plants are 40% of electric generation in WE territory.  The Company is turning to sun-catchers, windmills, and natural gas (plus a bit of nuke) to make up for the loss of coal.

(Sun-catchers were useless in SE Wisconsin for about 10 days ending on Christmas Eve, and windmills MUST shut down in high-wind periods.  "Reliable power"?  Nope.)

So what?  What does that have to do with a gas leak in Illinois?

Plenty.  WE burns a helluva lot of natural gas to generate electricity.  Either YOU can have it for your furnace, or THEY can have it for making electricity.

Get it?

If they didn't preserve the gas required to run those plants, there would be blackouts.  "Rolling" or not, those wouldn't be very popular when the outside temperature is 0 or below, would they?

You will live with less for the sake of the Green Goddess.  Less food, less fuel, less heat, less cooling, and eventually, a lot less money.

This can and should be laid directly on the Feds and the State for their worship of the False God of Green.  This crap is also bi-partisan; the Republicans are just as gullible and stupid as the Democrats on this matter.

In 1977 or so, there was a 10-day period in January when the temperature in Milwaukee never went above zero.  Not onceThere was no "emergency" call for a cutback due to a dangerously-thin supply of electricity or natural gas.

This year, after only 3 days of cold...........well...........
