"Medicare/aid Fraud? We LOVE It!!" Sez ObozoGummint

I remember this story.

The CEO of IBM offered the Obama administration a free software program that would have cut Medicare and Medicaid fraud by almost a trillion dollars, but he was turned down – twice.

“We could have improved the quality and reduced the cost of the healthcare system by $900 billion…I said we would do it for free to prove that it works. They turned us down,” IBM chairman and CEO Samuel Palmisano said during a Sept. 14, 2010 taping of the Wall Street Journal’s Viewpoints program.

FOX News confirmed that a second meeting between Palmisano and Obama administration officials yielded the same result: “No thanks!” – even though the proffered “fix” would have eliminated 90 percent of the nation’s health care deficit – and cost taxpayers nothing (if) it didn’t perform as guaranteed.

So The Regime is flushing ~$30Bn/year down the toilet, instead.

You're a business guy. An IBM salesperson gives you this offer. You trust them? Think it's a free lunch? Think it won't need customization?

Telling that the scoop was given to WSJ's Viewpoints program. We all know what point of view the WSJ espouses...and the "Fox news confirms" only adds to the stench.

Links only to articles providing only one "side" of the story. I like this comment on one of the pages in your thread:

"These kinds of articles are pointless in that they never give the other side of the story but instead make the President of the United States look like the villain. IF this story is indeed true (being an IBMer this is remarkedly diverse from normal business strategies) then give the entire response from President Obama so we can weigh his ideas against those of IBM. Just because IBM has an excellent record in technology in no way makes them an expert in the medical insurance fraud business as the US Gov has been in this business a whole lot longer than IBM."

The remark is ..aaaahhhh...remarkably un-informed.

IBM knows a few things about boolean logic, relational databases, and pattern-recognition.

A WHALE of a lot more than President Disaster does, by the way.

IBM has been running a software-build/consulting operation for about 40 years; they do pretty well with it. Check their annual reports.

They made a public-service offer (and yes, they'd sell versions to States for real money, in all likelihood.)

But stupid posts show up in Lefty blogs. It's what they DO.

I agree with you Dad29. They neglected a sure thing. IBM is really good on software-build operations. I mean it's what they do for a living. I really think the government should reconsider looking at it again. We don't know. This might be the real deal to solve the issue.
