The Problem With Congress and Cognescenti

Bloomberg notes that the 111th Congress wrote a helluvalotta laws.

However history judges the 535 men and women in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate the past two years, one thing is certain: The 111th Congress made more law affecting more Americans since the “Great Society” legislation of the 1960s.

Uh-huh.

Then they quote an "expert":

“This is probably the most productive session of Congress since at least the ‘60s,” said Alan Brinkley, a historian at New York’s Columbia University.

Just a co-incidence that in the 1960's, LBJ was initiating the bankruptcy of the US by pursuing a 'guns-and-butter' fiscal policy--and the 111th Congress was stepping on the accelerator at the fin de siecle of LBJ's ruinous move?

Fortunately, voters measure Congressional "productivity" in a different fashion than do East Coast cognescenti.

As anyone who's ever taken management seriously knows, busy does not mean productive.

Dad29, I see your intelligentsia bias reared its ugly head once again. Perhaps you may disagree with the content of the legislation that was passed, but compared to other Congress', Brinkley is on point with how many laws were passed in a wide range of areas.

Dad, you may have to explain to annony that it's not a bias against intelligence, just the east coast gang who think they know how to run the lives of the people better than the people themselves. Annony can't seem to grasp the difference.

Billiam, as compared to the gang which makes judgements as to who is a "true" Catholic or conservative???

Yeah it's not a bias against intelligence, it's a bias against east coasters who are out of touch with the real America.

classic.

The runny-nosed "Anony" sniffles his snot all over another otherwise-fine blogpost.

You're right, Dad29, how juvenile of me to "infiltrate" your blog with counter arguments.

Again, I will say a prayer for you at church.
