The Re-Writing of History: Fall of the Wall

Interesting point here.

There has been a great rewriting of history as to why the Berlin Wall fell and why communism was overcome in Europe, reducing the course of events to merely the failure of an economic system. It is important to realize that communism was not overthrown simply because of a need for economic reform.

For instance, people standing in front of tanks in Tiananmen Square do not do so because of a simple desire for economic reforms. These are men and women who believe in justice and in their own right to freedom and the rights of their children, and they are willing to pay a very high price in pursuit of these rights.

It was not co-incidence that two of the four major players were Catholic.

I've thought much the same thing when looking at the teens and 20-somethings of today when they are cheerleading for communism/socialism and wearing their Che t-shirts railing against the oppressive and imperialistic American regime...

They have never really truly seen communism and tyranny in action. They never had nuclear drills at school. They don't remember the wall, or the iron curtain, or Tiananmen. And thanks to the likes of educational curriculum "scholars" like Bill Ayers at the NEA, they are ensuring these generations never learn about them.

Nobody's cheerleading communism. That's just complete rubbish. Sorry.

I enjoyed the link Dadster. I was fortunate enough to study in Vienna and hear many of these first hand accounts of the struggle for freedom from communist rule. Truly remarkable stuff.
