When the US PropagandaPress runs this story you know it's all over.
The quality of Ukraine’s military force, once considered a substantial advantage over Russia, has been degraded by a year of casualties that have taken many of the most experienced fighters off the battlefield, leading some Ukrainian officials to question Kyiv’s readiness to mount a much-anticipated spring offensive....
...One senior Ukrainian government official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to be candid, called the number of tanks promised by the West a “symbolic” amount. Others privately voiced pessimism that promised supplies would even reach the battlefield in time.
“If you have more resources, you more actively attack,” the senior official said. “If you have fewer resources, you defend more. We’re going to defend. That’s why if you ask me personally, I don’t believe in a big counteroffensive for us. I’d like to believe in it, but I’m looking at the resources and asking, ‘With what?’ Maybe we’ll have some localized breakthroughs.”
“We don’t have the people or weapons,” the senior official added. “And you know the ratio: When you’re on the offensive, you lose twice or three times as many people. We can’t afford to lose that many people.”...
Moon of Alabama is the source; a link to the entire WaPo article is in his post.
Ukraine doesn't have the mortars. That's not the bad news. The bad news is that the United States doesn't have them, either; the burn-rate over there is significantly larger than our capacity to manufacture the goods.
The myth pressed on us by the NeoCon Warmongers is that the US--and its clients--are inevitably the winners in any war. It wouldn't be all that bad if the NeoCon Warmongers knew it was a myth and acted accordingly.
But they actually believe their own bullshit. As a result, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Brazil have formed strategic alliances with Russia and China; India is thinking about it. Europe is at serious risk of a devastating energy shortage and is even more bankrupt than the US.
Stolen elections have grave consequences.

Still waiting for that massive Russian attack and take over Ukraine.
When will admit that you have been totally wrong about this war?
Keep waiting.
Putin does not want to "take over Ukraine," Mar. Elementary reading of the sources should have told you that.
The continuing barrage of howitzers has cost Ukraine 150,000 soldiers. This is where YOU come in!! Call Lindsey Graham and the overly-chubby Hannity! Get together with them and volunteer for the Ukraine Army. Specify "Bakhmut" as your destination of choice.
go for it!!
Oh, Dad, it was the original idea of Putin to take over Ukraine in a matter of days after the war started.
Well, that didn't work out.
Now, it's a stalement, at best, but Ukraine is playing on their home court. Generally, the home team usually wins, especially in war.
With Spring coming, Russia is going to be a sitting duck, like they were in the Fall and Winter.
