The Meaning of "Jesuitical"

Some of our Prot pals wonder about cryptic Catholic terms such as "Jesuitical."

Well, wonder no more!!!  Here's a very clear example!!

...Writing for Religion News Service (RNS)— Father Reese [S.J.], the former editor-in-chief of America Magazine—says that “pro-lifers must consider voting for candidates, even pro-choice Democrats, who will reduce the number of abortions by supporting programs that help mothers and their children.”

Yes, we all know that 'programs to help mothers and children' do NOT reduce abortions.  That's what "Jesuitical" means.

...Reese’s “argument” goes something like this: Abortion will never be illegal, and pro-lifers must accept this fact. They must, therefore, abandon efforts to rescind or limit laws permitting abortion and devote themselves, instead, to enacting more expansive government programs that support women so they will not choose to have abortions....

Yes, well.....Fr Reese S.J. happens to be agitating for more illicit sexual congress.  He doesn't mention that, of course, and he cannot point to an "expansive government program" which works to decrease un-married sexual activity.

Jesuitical.  Defined.
