The Crony Truckers' Association

Carney finds another plump target.

The Environmental Protection Agency is ordering large trucks and buses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 20 percent and overhaul engine design starting with models built in 2014. Most operators will need to spend thousands upgrading their rigs or buying new vehicles, with prices starting at $50,000 and going up from there, depending on the model.

Even so, the regulations have the support of the large and powerful American Trucking Association.  --quoting FoxNews

If you're an independent trucker, or small-guy with a few tractors/trailers, of course, all those new admin requirements and new trucks--well, that's REAL money.

So those little guys will go away.

It's the inverse of the Mafia's "protection" racket.

FOX news is either entirely incompetent or knowingly lying. The new rules apply only to new trucks:

"EPA's final greenhouse gas emission standards under the Clean Air Act will begin with model year 2014. NHTSA's final fuel consumption standards under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 will be voluntary in model years 2014 and 2015, becoming mandatory with model year 2016 for most regulatory categories. Commercial trailers are not regulated in this phase of the Heavy-Duty National Program."

I eagerly await your apology for blindly believing FOX News and not confirming the info from primary sources.

Umnnh....lemmeesee, heah, Jim: are you telling me that new trux, no matter what model year, are going to cost less than/comparable to "new" trux of 2012?

Cost going up is cost going up, Jim.

No. Nobody's gonna have to "spend thousands upgrading their rigs."
