The Corn-Whores ("Inserting a Cob Up Your A** Since 2005, With Glee and Profits") should begin to fear; the price-chickens are coming home to roost.
Consider that February prices for "crude foodstuffs and feedstuffs" were up 18.8% above year-ago levels, its no surprise that food companies are passing those higher costs to consumers. Wholesale consumer food prices are 6.8% above year-ago levels.
It ain't just tortillas any more, folks.
Corn is the base feedstuff for cattle and chickens, and is found in most breakfast cereal products--and is a major-league sweetener-ingredient, too.
I'm sure that Farmer Hahn is a happy camper.

Go check the price of soda at the grocery store. At Pick N Save here it's $4.29 a 12 pack; at Wal-Mart, $4.09.
The whoring out to the ethanol manufacturers and the farmers to create an industry where none is needed is shameful.
If they really think ethanol is the solution, remove the tariff on the stuff we import from Brazil and buy them out of it.
But that's sugar-based ethanol and the farmers won't benefit.
Before the push for ethanol, the regular price of a 12-pack was between $3.00 and $3.30, with sales of 3 for $7.98 common. Now it's sales for 3 for $9.99 and $10.98 thanks to the ethanol whores.
Not only the farmers, Peter. The Leggies who "invested" in eth plants, and their kith & kin.
Same with ADM, and their purchased Ladies-of-the-Evening in Congress.
And, from the environmental standpoint, ethanol is bad; Corn requires more water than other dry land crops, already putting a squeeze on drought-level water supplies.
Yes, I'm in Nebraska, and I think farmers should get top dollar for their crops. The whining about high food prices is reminiscent of the whining about high car prices, and high clothing prices. Look where that whining got us...
