OK, so the "Farm" bill is up in the Senate.
Today, the Senate will invoke cloture on the 5-year farm bill, S. 954. The 1150-page Senate bill costs $955 billion over 10 years and creates a new shallow loss program covering up to 90% of a farmer’s income – on the taxpayer dime. Roughly 80% of the cost is related to food stamps. For good measure, this bill contains sugar subsidies, biofuels subsidies, and conservation programs. This mega-bill was rushed through the committee process and has only been subject to four amendments on the floor....
The red-highlight is very important.
See, the actual "farm" provisions--many of which are very questionable, indeed--are only about $125 billion over 10 years.
The BIG spend is on food stamps--also somewhat questionable. But without the food stamps, the actual "farm" portion might never get passed in its current form. (Sugar market-fixing, anyone??)
So the "farm" bill is assembled to force it through, and preserve Big Gummint for another few years.

"It goes far far beyond the Patriot Act," Sensenbrenner, who authored that 2001 law, said in an interview. "If the Bush Administration was (also) doing it, they shouldn't have ... It doesn't make any difference how long it has been going on. It never should have happened. And since it has happened, it ought to stop."
Sensenbrenner WROTE the damnfool law and voted for it. It's a little late for him to be screeching and wailing about the Surveillance State that it created, ain'a?
We're still waiting for Sensenbrenner to apologize for voting to continue funding of ObozoCare this year. But I'm not holding my breath. He's gone to "go along/get along" mode.

In a review of Volf’s book, Baylor historian Thomas Kidd faults Volf for sidestepping the question of salvation—and therefore the question of true worship—and for not being critical enough in his evaluation of the identity of the God or gods of these two religions.
Kidd is quite right; indeed, there are deeper problems with Volf’s thesis. His argument for the identity of the Muslim and Christian Gods collapses under its own weight. Volf’s own logic underscores what the Qur’an itself suggests—that the God of the Qur’an is radically different from the God Christians worship.

This is why neither Geithner nor his nominal boss, Barack Obama, would not dare prosecute any of the heads of the largest commercial banks for securities fraud; for fear of what they would find inside Pandora’s Wall Street drop box. ...

The father of a middle schooler in Calvert County, Md. says his 11-year-old son was suspended for 10 days for merely talking about guns on the bus ride home.
Bruce Henkelman of Huntingtown says his son, a sixth grader at Northern Middle School in Owings, was talking with friends about the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre when the bus driver hauled him back to school to be questioned by the principal, Darrel Prioleau.
“The principal told me that with what happened at Sandy Hook if you say the word ‘gun’ in my school you are going to get suspended for 10 days,” Henkelman said in an interview with WMAL.com.

family members and apply for waivers where needed. These jobs belong in
