Whose Pope? Not the Innocent!

We gave this guy a lot of rope, and he finally hung himself.

Pope Leo XIV responded to controversy over the Chicago cardinal’s plans to honor a Catholic U.S. senator who supports legalized abortion, saying that the senator’s record should be considered in its totality and that Americans should search together for the truth on ethical issues....

Yadayadayada, then:

....“Someone who says I’m against abortion but is in favor of the death penalty is not really pro-life,” the pope explained. “Someone who says I’m against abortion but I’m in agreement with the inhuman treatment of immigrants in the United States, I don’t know if that’s pro-life.”...

In example one, Leo fails to distinguish between taking innocent life and the justifiable taking of NOT-innocent life.  In example two, he makes a judgment ("inhuman") on a matter in which he has very little (if any) knowledge, thus pronouncing judgment on a matter in which he is incompetent.

So it's Pp. Franny 2.

Pray harder

……,,Because of the inherent dignity of human life, it is licit to use self-defense as necessary to protect it against those who would murder, and the State may implement the death penalty in order to protect against those who'd harm the innocent. The 5th Commandment, which is typically read as "thou shalt not kill" means, in fact, that "thou shalt not unjustly take innocent life," or "thou shalt not murder." Defending innocent life by taking the life of one who murders is not "murder"; it's defense.

Because of original sin, humanity is prone to concupiscence and evil. Because of this proneness to concupiscence and evil, utopia is not an option, and systems of political thought which propose such (e.g., socialism, communism, the idea that the market solves all problems, etc.) are wrong and not to be followed.….,,

If then I am a wrongdoer, and have committed anything for which I deserve to die, I do not seek to escape death.” (Acts 25:11)
“Let every soul be subject to higher powers. For there is no power but from God: and those that are ordained of God. Therefore, he that resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist purchase to themselves damnation. For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to thee, for good. But if thou do that which is evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword in vain. For he is God’s minister: an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil” (Romans 13:1-4).
