Seems like there was a snafu on UW-M student loans
...The university contracted with a private firm to notify and bill
graduates who have student loans. That company, which contracts with the
entire UW system, incorrectly processed the information.
... The school has been contacting the students, but the bad news for Legan
and the others, is that the U.S. Department of Education said the
students are required to repay any interest on those loans, whether they
knew about it or not....
I would think that the "private firm"--whoever that is--should be smacked with several hundred lawsuits demanding damages.
Surprised that Great Lakes Higher Education hasn't been mentioned in this story. *Cough* If they are NOT the "private firm", they ought to make that clear immediately.
