...back to what he said, this is a remarkable claim. According to this
claim, the Africa command (based in Europe) had no assets to which it
could turn. None. Contrary to reports (that I have cited), there were no Delta operators at Sigonella. There was no AC-130, there wasn’t even Marine Force Recon, again, contrary to published reports that I have cited.
They were apparently all in the field, deployed across Africa. No
one was available. There were no air assets available to assist the
poor souls at Benghazi. Not even an MP or cook could have responded
from Sigonella. The base (the American side of it, anyway) was a ghost
town. The closest asset was … the Eastern coast of the United States.
I don’t believe it. I’m not saying that I don’t believe Wolfowitz,
but I don’t believe his sources. How the hell does one run Africa
command with no assets at your disposal? Besides, this answer is too
easy to produce and then move on after the furor dies down.
Unless Sigonella itself is merely an outpost, (which it is NOT), it is clear that something's wrong with the story.

The "Poverty Causes Crime" Lie
More than a few good points in The Captain's post.
...I took this last weekend to Jocassee Gorges. We passed all manner of poor, impoverished folk on our way, and homes that would hardly have qualified to be in the inner city of Chicago. They would have been condemned. But the people weren’t uninitiated or killing each other. They all had guns, and it was bear season (with dogs), and in Greenville, Pickens and Oconee county there were more than 800 bear hunters active in the area....
And something else we've noticed:
...The recession of 2008-09 has undercut one of the most destructive social theories that came out of the 1960s: the idea that the root cause of crime lies in income inequality and social injustice. As the economy started shedding jobs in 2008, criminologists and pundits predicted that crime would shoot up, since poverty, as the “root causes” theory holds, begets criminals. California insurance officials have expressed concern about substantial rate hikes for some existing policyholders going into the exchange.
Under a new rating map approved by state lawmakers, the Department of lnsurance estimated that premiums for similar coverage could increase as much as 25% in West Los Angeles, 22% in the Sacramento area and nearly 13% in Orange County.
Janice Rocco, the state’s deputy insurance commissioner for health policy, said her agency is pushing a new rating map that would cap increases at 8%. That proposal could be considered during a special legislative session in the coming months. --HotAir quoting LA Times

The Revolution in Teleology

The differences between dirt, water, rocks, trees, dogs, cats, and human bodies are on this view superficial...
Ah, but there's more!
...Indeed, at bottom these are all just the same kinds of thing—arrangements within the one vast ocean of physical particles, the differences between the arrangements ultimately no deeper than the differences between waves on the same sea. Color, sound, odor, heat, and cold—understood in the qualitative way common sense understands them—are relegated to the mind, existing only in our conscious representation of the natural world, not in the world itself. Color, sound, and the rest as objective features would be redefined in quantitative terms—reflectance properties of physical surfaces, compression waves, and the like.

FEMA, the Continuing Failure
If your thought that FEMA couldn't get worse than the BushBoy era, think again.
FEMA's vaunted "lean forward" strategy that called for advanced staging of supplies for emergency distribution failed to live up to its billing in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
In fact, the agency appears to have been completely unprepared to distribute bottled water to Hurricane Sandy victims when the storm hit this Monday. In contrast to its stated policy, FEMA failed to have any meaningful supplies of bottled water -- or any other supplies, for that matter -- stored in nearby facilities as it had proclaimed it would on its website. This was the case despite several days advance warning of the impending storm.
FEMA only began to solicit bids for vendors to provide bottled water for distribution to Hurricane Sandy victims on Friday, sending out a solicitation request for 2.3 million gallons of bottled water at the FedBizOpps.gov website. Bidding closed at 4:30 pm eastern.

Those calls allegedly went to local security contractors who say that the CIA annex was also notified much earlier than 9:40 p.m. U.S. military intelligence also told Fox News that armed militia was gathering up to three hours before the attack began.
And US forces were not the only option.
...British sources on the ground in Benghazi said they are extremely frustrated by the attack and are still wondering why they weren't called for help. “We have more people on the ground here than the Americans and I just don't know why we didn't get the call?" one said.
Both American and British sources said, at the very least, the security situation on the ground and the lack of proper response were the result of "complete incompetence." The covert team that came in from Tripoli was held up at the Benghazi airport for more than three hours by Libyan officials. Sources said the team notified officials in Washington that they were being delayed within 30 minutes of their arrival.

That crowd was at least — at least — 25,000 and probably more like 35,000. No one could honestly claim it was less than 20,000, and they were fired up.
The AP reporter? Steve Peoples, a lying hack who has been previously busted for trying the same dishonest partisan trick in August.
If a Democrat Party propagandist wants a paycheck, let him collect it from OFA or the DNC, not AP.

"Cross-Border Authority" Denied by Obozo, No Rescue
Another piece of the not-puzzle.
The Benghazi debacle boils down to a single key factor — the granting or withholding of “cross-border authority.” This opinion is informed by my experience as a Navy SEAL officer who took a NavSpecWar Detachment to Beirut.
Once the alarm is sent – in this case, from the consulate in Benghazi — dozens of HQs are notified and are in the planning loop in real time, including AFRICOM and EURCOM, both located in Germany. Without waiting for specific orders from Washington, they begin planning and executing rescue operations, including moving personnel, ships, and aircraft forward toward the location of the crisis. However, there is one thing they can’t do without explicit orders from the president: cross an international border on a hostile mission.
So any rescue requires an order from the CinC.
...No administration wants to stumble into a war because a jet jockey in hot pursuit (or a mixed-up SEAL squad in a rubber boat) strays into hostile territory. Because of this, only the president can give the order for our military to cross a nation’s border without that nation’s permission. For the Osama bin Laden mission, President Obama granted CBA for our forces to enter Pakistani airspace.
On the other side of the CBA coin: in order to prevent a military rescue in Benghazi, all the POTUS has to do is not grant cross-border authority. If he does not, the entire rescue mission (already in progress) must stop in its tracks.
It's hard to believe that Obama could get worse than he already was.

We’ve now gone an entire year without the Obama Administration giving Americans – and the businesses that employ them – the information they need to plan for the future. In response, the job market is frozen and expansion projects are being delayed. The only reason that makes sense for violating two disclosure requirements is that the White House is waiting until after Election Day to flood the economy with even more regulatory burdens.
What we have here is a serial lawbreaker, well-armed, and with a bootlicker/co-conspirator Attorney General. IOW, an example of how the ChiComs and Putin operate.

Apparently Cuomo believes that New York State is more equal than other States.
New York state on Wednesday asked the U.S. federal government to pay all the costs of cleaning up and repairing damage from massive storm Sandy that tore through the Northeast this week and crippled New York City.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said he is asking fellow Democrat, President Barack Obama, to pay 100 percent of the estimated $6 billion bill, at a time that state and local government budgets remain constrained by a weak economic recovery.
That would be a significant change from last year when the federal government covered about 75 percent of the $1.2 billion cost paid by New York to clean up after storm Irene hit the region.
If the SCOAMF complies, it has to be before Inauguration Day, too.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson on Wednesday afternoon announced that her agency has approved an "emergency fuel waiver” for New Jersey, exercising her authority under the Clean Air Act to temporarily waive federal “clean diesel” fuel requirements in the storm-devastated state.
This will allow the use of home heating oil in most generators and pumps.
Given the choice between shutting down a gen or pump at, say, a hospital or water-pumping station and following Princess Lisa's inane 'clean diesel' rules, I'd say her permission-slip was a colossal waste of paper....

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson on Wednesday afternoon announced that her agency has approved an "emergency fuel waiver” for New Jersey, exercising her authority under the Clean Air Act to temporarily waive federal “clean diesel” fuel requirements in the storm-devastated state.
This will allow the use of home heating oil in most generators and pumps.
Given the choice between shutting down a gen or pump at, say, a hospital or water-pumping station and following Princess Lisa's inane 'clean diesel' rules, I'd say her permission-slip was a colossal waste of paper....
...like most Federal Gummint crap.

Agenda for Gov. Walker
Seems to me that spending reductions should be on Gov. Walker's plate.
Why not lop off the BabyKillers?
The 5th Circuit sensibly said that Texas could shut out Planned Parenthood under the current program without violating the Constitution.
Of course, the BabyKillers went directly to Austin (read: Madison), found a Lefty circuit judge, (read: found a grain of sand on the beach), and have secured a TRO.
Not to worry. It won't last long.
But how long will it take Gov. Walker to do the same thing here?

Think Chicago Will Say "Thanks"? Nah.

Cook County hit a $100 million jackpot over the weekend.
In a little noticed but crucial decision announced Friday night [when our rulers do things they don't want reported], the federal government signed off on a request by county board President Toni Preckwinkle to enroll 114,000 low-income people a year early in the Medicaid program.
For the county, the decision is worth as much as $100 million a year, since its network of hospitals and health clinics already is serving most of the patients free of charge. The tab now will be picked up by federal taxpayers under a provision of Obamacare, rather than by Cook County taxpayers alone.--MoonBattery quoting Crain's
Of course, that means that Chicago pols will have to manufacture at least 100,000 fraudulent votes for the pResident.
