One Democrat raises the possibility that state residents could "buy in" to the health plan currently given to State employees.
We thought that might be interesting, so we looked around a bit. ("A bit" is all you can do unless you're actually enrolled in the plan or have unlimited time.)
One would pay $325/month for the standard-deductible family plan.
Sorry!! Can't tell you what the deductible is, nor anything about a dental plan, but let's take a SWAG and say that the health deductible is $4,000./family/year.
$325/month is clearly a subsidized premium--that is, State taxpayers kick in a bunch of money to bring the premium down to that level. So the first question is this: what IS the subsidy? Next: will the same subsidy be offered to non-State-employee enrollees?
Next question: how will the State afford it?
Certainly, Ms. Roys has answers. Right??
By the way: in many parts of the real world, family premiums are about $750/month--or more. State employees are getting one Helluva good deal.

Diane Hendricks, the richest woman in the country, doesn't pay taxes. That might be a good place to start.
Also, state workers get paid lower wages than the private sector.
