Rome Pulls a Smackdown

Part of this is no surprise at all.  The other part?  Wow!

The Vatican has declared that the Society of St. Pius X no longer offers licit sacraments after bishops, clergy and – under certain conditions – lay members of the Society of St. Pius X were excommunicated following the consecration of four bishops without papal approval....

That was not a surprise.

...As a result, the sacraments of confession and marriage have been ruled “invalid,” while other sacraments remain valid but administered “illicitly,” according to the dicastery....

It's a legalism, but that's the way it is.

N.B.:  An absolution (in confession) rendered to a penitent 'in danger of death' remains vaild.  That's the only exception.

Not one Penny in the basket until excommunications are rescinded

"What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for is too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful."

Pope Benedict XVI

……BREAKING: The Holy See has declared that all six SSPX bishops are excommunicated.

The decree states that the consecrator Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta and the four newly consecrated bishops (Pascal Schreiber, Michael Goldade, Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, and Marc Hanappier) have incurred latae sententiae excommunication.

Bishop Bernard Fellay was also declared excommunicated for serving as co-consecrator.

The document also labels all SSPX priests as schismatics subject to excommunication and declaring that confessions heard by them and marriages they witness are invalid…….

Vatican declares SSPX bishops, priests schismatic, says lay faithful risk excommunication

https://www.ncronline.org/vatican-declares-sspx-bishops-priests-schismatic-says-lay-faithful-risk-excommunication

…….That ruling renders invalid the sacraments offered by the society's 751 priests worldwide. In total the SSPX claims 1,500 members — including seminarians, brothers, oblates and religious sisters — dispersed over 77 countries…….

…..Despite the Vatican warning that adhering to the schism would result in excommunication, Bishop Michael Goldade, one of the newly consecrated and now excommunicated bishops from St. Marys, Kansas, appealed to the thousands gathered for evening prayer July 1 to "keep your families faithful to these holy institutions – the Mass, the sacraments – and never let them go."

"If the Catholic Church in her tradition brings forth life, the modernist church is a desert," he said, with his newly bestowed crosier in hand. "It kills everything that it touches."

'Today, I am excommunicated'……

Bugnini would be so proud of Anti pope Leo

The revolutionary Freemason archbishop’s vision for the church is taking form.

I remember this post.

The Mass of "Our Time", Indeed

https://dad29.blogspot.com/2022/01/the-mass-of-our-time-indeed.html

….Cdl. Roche, currently running the Congregation for Worship in Rome, has oft stated that the Mass of Paul VI (Novus Ordo) is 'the Mass of our time,'--or words to that effect.

Here, Kwasniewski rams that right down his throat……

Myth busting
How much of the 1962 missal is actually used in the post Vatican 2 missal

https://www.newliturgicalmovement.org/2021/07/mythbusting-how-much-of-1962-missal-is.html

…..The new Missal has eighty-one prefaces and sixteen hundred prayers, or more than twice as many as in the old Missal. Almost all the texts of the old Missal have been used, revised if need be to harmonize them with the reform and the teaching of Vatican II. …..

……Of the 1,269 unique orations in the usus antiquior, I calculate that 613 (48.3%) of them are used in some way in the post-Vatican II Missal…….

Note the author revised the 17% figure down to 13% in part 2

…..I should reiterate that these figures make no distinction between orations from the 1962 Missal that remain intact in the post-Vatican II Missal and those that were edited before their inclusion. Of the prayers from the 1962 Missal that were not changed [7] by Coetus XVIII bis, one source puts the figure of intact orations at only 17%. [8] It will take some further work to verify this figure, but at first glance it seems about right to me; the number of orations edited by Coetus XVIII bis is surprisingly high. [9] …..

How can Rome demand obedience from the SSPX while promoting blessings for same-sex couples, redefining the death penalty, and opening Holy Communion to the divorced and remarried?

The Bishop of Salt Lake City reduces priest, celebrating the Latin mass despite conversions of Mormons

https://wdtprs.com/2026/07/the-bishop-of-salt-lake-city-reduces-priests-celebrating-the-tlm-despite-conversions-of-mormons/

Our Bishop, has restricted the Diocese of Salt Lake City to only two authorized priests celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass, despite a growing number of conversions from the Mormon community to the tradional faith.

He has scattered many thriving Latin Mass communities, forcing numerous faithful to relocate. Others now travel more than an hour each way just to attend Mass.

I converted to the Catholic faith through the Traditional Latin Mass in Park City, where Father Grey faithfully ministered to our community. After his reassignment, he still drives from the city, after fulfilling all his other duties, so that we are not left without the Holy Mass.

If this Mass is no longer offered, my family and I will have no choice but to relocate.

I cannot embrace liturgies that resemble entertainment, poor music, and endless customizations that depart from the norms laid down by the Second Vatican Council. Nor can I accept services that seek to elevate communal closeness over the worship of God.

Even more troubling to me are the offertory prayers that emphasize the work of human hands, echoing the language of a Seder meal rather than the sacrificial emphasis of the traditional Roman Rite. To me, they risk shifting the focus from God’s action to man’s offering, such as Cain’s sacrifice.

The Holy Mass, the prayers of the Saints, are a monument of reverence and not ours to reinvent. It is ours to receive…….

The archbishop of Indianapolis has made sure that the Latin mass is only given in the most obscure locations possible

It’s as if he thinks it is an infection

By all means Do not leave the church, but get the Bishop’s attention by leaving the donation basket empty.
