So far, during the presidency of Barack Obama, the price of a gallon of gasoline has jumped 83 percent, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That's offset by the cost of Michelle's vacations, of course.

This is invisible, though, because as you know the inflation gurus don't include groceries or fuel in their indices.
Note that when Obama took office, the economy was at its absolute lowest and gas prices had fallen from a high of $4.12 in summer of 2008 to $1.61 at year end.
So if you take today's price as an increase over the economic nadir, yeah, you get 83%.
But today's price is 20% lower than the highest price during the summer of 2008 (Bush administration). In fact until last spring, gas prices under Obama averaged lower than during 2006 through 2008.

In the first three years of the Bush administration, ground beef prices rose 33% and over eight years rose 42%. Against Obama's 24%.
