This Louie Verecchio guy is a scream. He whacks Bp. Morlino for the good Bishop's monitum on SSPX, but side-steps the meat of the matter.

The USCC's Crazy Wing
Somehow, I missed this story.
When President Obama on Monday announced new “Clean Power Plan” regulations to help mitigate climate change, more than a few religious leaders were quick to offer their blessing. Some 170 evangelicals—pastors, religion professors, nonprofit directors and others—sent an open letter to the president “to offer our support and encouragement for your efforts to overcome the climate challenge.”
... The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops wrote on Monday to “welcome this important move by the administration to adopt long-awaited standards to mitigate climate change and safeguard public health.”
The bishops went further, encouraging lawmakers to “oppose legislation and appropriations riders designed to reverse efforts to implement a national standard to reduce carbon pollution from existing power plants.”...--quoted at ColdFury
The concept of "stewardship" is morally dead-on, of course, and it is roughly reflected in the maxim "Waste not, want not." On this we can all agree.
But "waste" comes in a variety of forms, one of which is inefficiency. For someone to pretend that sunlight and windstorms will efficiently meet the electrical-consumption requirements of the world (let alone the USA) is---ahhh---pretending. It's the Unicorns & Rainbows approach larded with Hope.
And Hope is not a plan.
We see that USCC's crazy munchkins (who are not always the Bishops) are back following the departure of Mgr. Malloy to a Bishop appointment.
Too bad.

Hey, You SSPX'ers: Pay Attention!
Just had a conversation with a young fellow who is an intermittent SSPX attendee. A strange conversation, to say the least.
Next, I find this.
Let me draw your attention to this particular passage:
...there are two other, serious, sacramental problems that must be understood by everyone who may wish to attend SSPX chapels. If you take nothing else away from this letter, at least hear this -- the SSPX’s marriages and absolutions are invalid because their priests lack the necessary faculties.
The SSPX argues for the validity of their marriages and absolutions based on the canonical principle that the Church supplies the faculty in cases of doubt or common error. In certain rare and exceptional cases that might apply to their situation, especially with regard to confession, but for the most part their arguments are not persuasive.
Part of their argument hinges on the faithful erroneously believing that the SSPX priests have the requisite faculty; well, if you were in error about that up until now, you are not in error anymore.
The SSPX also makes the argument that they have permission because the Church is in a state of “emergency.” However, 1) the Legislator (the Pope) and the bishops with him don’t think there is a state of emergency, and 2) the sacraments offered by the SSPX are already widely available at legitimate parishes and chapels, i.e., no one is being denied the sacraments....
Bp. Morlino is, by any reckoning, a 'conservative', or more accurately, an orthodox Catholic. He, like Bp. Bruskewitz, does not put up with foolishness from any camp.
There is a particular reason that the Bishop has published this column; I'm aware of the situation. But there is a general point to be made here, and the Bishop makes it well.

Free Suggestion for the Debaters!
There will be a gaggle of (R) contenders on stage tonight. All of them want to "break through" and gain lotsa points in the polls; none of them want to make an error.
Well, here's a suggestion for them.
When the topic of the Iran "treaty" comes up, simply say this:
"President Obama says that those who hold valid concerns about this 'treaty' are just like those in Iran who shout 'Death to America!!'
"I have a suggestion for the President: Go to Hell!"
Then simply shut up.
You'll break through. And you will not have erred.

I cannot sing this song now without choking up, remembering my comrades willingly taking an action which might amount to signing their own death warrants....
There are a lot of other similarities between Obozo and the (NVA) Communists. This is only one example.

GE booked $3.3 billion in savings last quarter by widening retiree-benefit cuts from salaried positions to hourly production jobs, prompting a backlash from former employees...
The savings on retiree benefits is the largest for the Fairfield, Conn.-based company since the Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010. Starting Jan. 1, hourly production retirees who turn 65 by the start of 2018 will be cut off from GE's traditional retiree health plan and, instead, reimbursed about $1,000 a year on the cost of Medicare coverage supplements purchased...

State Rep. Andre Jacque (R) is circulating legislation that would establish a similarly tiered system in Wisconsin and, ultimately, allow Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans to deny Planned Parenthood Title X funds regardless of what happens at the federal level....
This should be a no-brainer.

Wisconsin to Sue Over Ridiculous EPA Plan
Channel 6 managed to bury the lede in this pResidential-propaganda-heavy story.
Walker will sue over the asinine EPA utility regs, and McConnell (!!) sent a letter to all State Governors urging them to ignore the EPA.
Walker, to his eternal credit, has made a point of saying that he would castrate EPA, making it an 'umbrella organization' chartered only to assist States in inter-state disputes over various forms of pollution.
(That position should be part of the (R) platform and should be implemented no matter which (R) is elected, of course; but crony capitalism will raise its hydra-heads in that process. Count on it. )
Meantime, if you see an EPA employee walking down the street, shun 'em.

Damn Funny Story
So Sipsey went to his reunion.
He tells a story about a couple of his old pals....
Charlie Teets (my best friend in high school, now decades long deceased himself) and I persuaded Bob Frazier to eat a bunch of beans over a period of two days to test the scientific theory that if, (a.) methane was a flammable gas, and (b.) that farts contained significant amounts of methane, that, ergo, (c.) farts were flammable and could be ignited by a lit match. Bob was skeptical but properly encouraged he consumed five cans of pork and beans over a two day period and was properly gassy when the day of the experiment came -- the laboratory being the ground floor boy's restroom of Caledonia Elementary School. Bob insisted upon being paid his two dollars up front -- a sensible precaution. So, paid in advance, Bob bared his cheeks to the wind, gripped the vertical stand pipe of the toilet, bent over at the proper grunting angle, and I readied the matches -- and the wait began. I went through four matches and two burned fingers before Bob produced the raw material in sync with a lit match, and then . . .

McConnell's Failure Theatre on Chop-Shop
McConnell nixed de-funding Planned Parenthood (a/k/a The Chop-Shop) by amendment to the "must-pass" pork-o-rama Highway Bill.
Then he allowed Lee to bring a separate bill--which McConnell knew would fail.
And it did.
