“I don’t think women have any rights”
In Christianity, certain passage in the Bible emphasize women’s submission, rules and worship, and restrictions on exercising authority over men. In that context, women do not have rights.
Furthermore, the Koran and Islamic tradition grant women comprehensive rights, including owning property, education, inheritance, and consent in marriage. Of course, some interpretations or Muslim cultural practices may restrict those rights.
Leave it to Dad29 to once again show his ignorance. .
In that context,...
Along with "some interpretations....cultural practices".........
You have the weatherman game down pat!! "A 40% chance of rain" which in some contexts and interpretations mean yes. In others, no.
Anything else?
Again, you didn’t disprove what I said.
The concept of rights as such did not exist when the Koran was written (or 'recited,' if you care for the fiction). There are sometimes obligations placed upon women, such as the obligation to become knowledgeable about Islam; interpreting that as a comprehensive right to education is something of a stretch.
Women are sometimes told they are permitted to do things normally forbidden, such as when a woman went to Muhammad for permission to pick dates though she was too close to her term for the usual rule, and was granted it in the hope that she might give some to charity; that one-off permission does not entail a right, or anything like a right. It was an exception to a general rule restricting women that was made for a specific purpose.
