Tilting the Story, Brewers-Style

The Milwaukee Brewers want $400 million or so from Wisconsin taxpayers, so they gave a........ahhhh.........selective tour to Channel 6.  You'll note that the focus is on structural and/or systems needs.  The price tags for most of those needs comes to around $30 million dollars.  There are more--such as some seating and structure repairs, where the price tag is not mentioned.

Anyway, the numbers they did give total $30 million.  But the Brewers want $400 million.  That's a very large gap.

Twenty grafs into the story, we note another 'improvement':

..."upper-level group spaces geared toward young adult fans will provide a unique space for socializing while the game becomes background entertainment, rather than their primary reason for being at the ballpark."...

No estimate given for that little item.  State taxpayers are being asked to provide a full-service tavern at a baseball stadium for people who do not want to watch a baseball game.  Next, they'll be asked to pay for appearances by the Foo Fighters at this club.

One State Leggie has it right:

...According to the Brewers lease, the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District – the governmental body that owns the stadium – is to pay for capital improvements and keep the ballpark in the top 25% all major league stadiums.

"It is not reasonable to expect that every stadium be in the top 25% of stadiums. This is not Lake Wobegon, we can’t all be above average. And that’s frankly a terrible deal," said State Rep. Ryan Clancy (D-Milwaukee)....

Lake Wobegon is in Minnesota.  Maybe that's where the Brewers belong.

The Brewers are greedy pigs

Their business model is to form a tit on the side of the taxpayer and collect them selves, and suck the taxpayer dry
