ZMan gets it.
In an essay accurately describing the arc of the Proxy War, he notes this:
...Another .... bit of reality Western leaders have ignored for so long they stopped thinking about it. That is, the industrial base of the West no longer exists as a practical matter. Generations of offshoring and global supply chain management have left Western countries with a tiny manufacturing base. China now has more manufacturing capacity than the U.S. and Europe combined. Throw in Russia, Brazil and India and you see the problem....
Indeed. This is a war that the US Chamber of Commerce helped lose, along with their stooges Clinton and GWBush. The manufacturing base? She gone.
Side-note: Zelenskiy announced that Ukraine is going to 'pull back' from Bakhmut in a 'strategic retreat.'
My foot. His 10,000 troops in that town are surrounded by the Russkies; they have no hope of keeping Bakhmut in the short- or the long-run. The Russian maneuver is called "kettling" and they have used it for dozens of years. It will be ugly for the Ukraine Army troops who cannot escape.
Meantime, be sure to thank the Chamber of Commerce for neutering the US's military manufacturing capacity. They're Paul Ryan's acceptable sort of Republicans, you know. Paulie must be proud of them.
