The Cardinal in Chicago who is known to the Chicago Police as "Cdl. Cupcake" made it perfectly clear: he chooses the State.

...The cardinal went on to cite Pope Francis’s criticism of populism, asserting that it foments “anti-democratic sentiment.”
Democracy “requires the participation of all sectors of the citizenry, not only those at the center of society, but especially those at the margins. That’s why it’s called the common good,” Cupich said....
Like all proper State Propagandists, +Cupcake refers to "democracy" while living in a representative Republic. In fact, "majority rule" is the fastest way to Fascism. That's why the Cardinal--a spokesman for Pp. Francis--endorses it.
He would also do well to review the Catholic Church's definition of 'common good'. As it stands, he will never be confused with such as Becket and More--as if there were any doubt before this.
His ridiculous slurs against Trump supporters are born from his Pinky-Finger-Up class hatred for the hoi polloi, the same hatred he showed for Catholics who prefer the Tridentine Rite Mass, and the very same hatred displayed by Pelosi and her Deep State allies.
He and they have chosen their god.
