A Look at ObamaCare Premium Increases

KFF, (formerly the Kaiser Family Foundation), did a bit of analysis on the upcoming premium increases for ObamaCare.

Yes, premiums will increase regardless of tax credit (welfare) giveaways.  ObamaCare was designed exactly that way, so that after Obama left office, there would be Hell to pay for this total crap-house of welfare legislation.

John Roberts and Paul Ryan were accomplices to this massive rip-off of Americans.  You don't hear "the Press" talking about that, do you?

There's some interesting stuff in the KFF report which--as usual--the "Highly Trained Professional Reporters" do not report.  For example:

...The amount health insurers charge for coverage on the ACA Marketplaces is rising 26%, on average, in 2026. In states that run their own Marketplaces, the average benchmark (second-lowest cost) silver premium, on which the tax credit calculation is based, is rising 17% next year. In states that use Healthcare.gov, these premiums are rising an average of 30%....

Yup.  ObozoCare premiums are going up no matter what.  We'll get around to "why" in a moment.

... If the enhanced premium tax credits expire at the end of this year, KFF estimates that currently subsidized enrollees will see their monthly premium payments more than double, increasing by about 114%, on average. This reflects people with incomes below four times the poverty level receiving less financial assistance and those with incomes over four times poverty no longer being eligible for financial assistance at all and therefore being hit by a double whammy of lost tax credit and higher insurer premiums....

Two notes on the above.  First off, 'those with income 'below 400% poverty' STILL GET free money from taxpayers.

FOUR HUNDRED PERCENT!  For a daddy + mommy + 2 children, that is $128,000/year in Milwaukee.  Those with incomes above that line (see:  early retirees now playing pickleball or "Entrepreneurs" who like the earnings when they don't have to pay the freight) will have to pay for............stuff.  (What 'stuff'?  We're getting there.)

...  Even if the enhanced tax credits expire, many lower income enrollees will continue to be eligible for a bronze plan with zero or a very low premium payment after accounting for the smaller tax credit they will continue to receive. However, this could mean switching from a silver plan with a reduced deductible as low as under $100 to a bronze plan with a deductible of over $7,000....

$7K deductible can be a burden, if you require that much medical treatment.  Few, if any, do.  Ask around among your friends and relatives.

Showing up at the emergency room for a cold or cough--like illegals can do for free--well, that's on you.  (And if the illegals weren't burning your tax money, you might pay less.  Thought about that?)

OK.  Now for "reasons."

... The amount insurers charge for ACA Marketplace premiums is rising for several reasons, including but not limited to increasing hospital costs, the rising popularity of expensive GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, and the threat of tariffs....

So the Democrat Senators like Tammy Baldwin want to keep Welfare For Fatties!!!

(We will grant you that the "threat of tariffs" is insurance company lingo for "We will rip you off just because."  Punish them, not your ordinary Teamster or Operating Engineer.)  But 'rising hospital costs' is a real thing; the amount of clerical and paraprofessional people required to fill in all the ObamaCare-Required Paperwork is large.  And they like to get paid, too.

... ACA Marketplace insurers said they would charge about 4 percentage points more, on average, than they otherwise would have because they expected healthier people to drop Marketplace coverage if enhanced premiums tax credit expire....

What did we say about "entrepreneurs who like free-riding"?  What did we say about the real frequency of hitting that $7K deductible?  What is that "400% of poverty" earnings level again$128KThat is over $10 grand/month, friends.

That $128K+++ bunch is the one writing letters after their pickleball game and pulling the chains of TeeeeVeeee reporters, then providing a few show-horses (genuine poor peeps) for the cameras.

It's a lawyer trick.  You still don't get that?
