Finally, a reporter does the work without the Scott Bauer Matt Smith usual twits' slanders.
...FOX6 crunched the numbers on Milwaukee County’s more than 500 wards, which had a county-wide turnout of 88.9%.
The county’s unofficial election night results showed 25 wards with turnout of 100% or greater, including one place topping 200%....
The official explanation?
... The corrected numbers show the same number of votes cast as the earlier, unofficial results; the corrected numbers showed more modest voter turnout in the 90s....
That's Part One. Part Two?
...Some Milwaukee County wards did, in fact, top 100%
Milwaukee Ward 335 hit 148% voter turnout and Ward 187 topped 118%.
Both are inside Marquette University's campus, with voting at the Alumni Memorial Union....
The kids move between academic years, which requires re-registration. Wisconsin allows same-day, so that accounts for the >100% numbers around MU, UW-M, and MSOE.
But it's not necessarily over yet.
Hovde may (should) be looking at mail-in/drop-box signature verifications. Remember that ballots matter more than votes, as ballots are the "parents" of actual votes. Ballots can be mailed to all sorts of places and people. Someone fills them out and signs the envelope as a verification that the voter actually voted that way.
Then the signature is compared to an on-file signature in the central-count facility.
Do all of them match? Some of them?
In the '20 election, the verifications disqualified notably less ballots (as a percentage of the total) than in previous elections. IOW (using made-up-for-example numbers), if 6% were disqualified for 'match problems' in '16 and only 2% were disqualified in '20, why the difference? Was that difference sufficient to produce the 20K vote difference? Remember that there were (and still are) five highly-partisan cities over which one could spread that 20K, and remember that Milwaukee's election commissioner was congratulated by a DNC operative for 'finding what we needed' after the '20. Also remember that there is video of someone stuffing a drop-box with dozens (hundreds) of ballots late at night in Milwaukee. Think that was your 80-year-old Grandpa dropping his ballot off? Yah, right. Or, as the song says, "Eighty-one million votes, my ass."
Unfortunately, even if Hovde's crew finds 100,000 non-matching (but allowed) signatures, there is no way to UN-vote those ballots in a timely fashion.
You can count on Tony Evers to veto any legislation which remedies the drop-box/mail-in problems, of course, which proves beyond a doubt that there are zero problems with the system./sarcasm
Now maybe Fox6 will FOIA Tony Evers' fake-name email account? Or is that too much to ask?
