The Stupid Party Redux

They're not called "the Stupid Party" for nothing.

Can you, dear reader, distinguish "Social Security" from "Medicare & Medicaid?"

I thought so.

Republicans in Congress?  Not so much.

The largest caucus of House Republicans called for an increase in the Social Security retirement age Wednesday, setting up a clash with President Joe Biden over spending on popular entitlement programs.

The Republican Study Committee, which comprises about 80% of House Republicans, called for the Social Security eligibility age to be tied to life expectancy...

In reality--an area with which Republicans are unfamiliar--Social Security's tax revenue is only about 5-6% "under" the break-even target.  Medicare/Medicaid, on the other hand, is short by about 25-30%.  (Thanks, Ticker!!!)

The big money-loser is Medicare/Medicaid, not Social Security.

Should there be a hard look at both?  Yes.  Should the Pubbies Stupid Party have brought up Medicare/Medicaid first?  Yes.

Why SocSec?

Because that's the fight on which Donald Trump will lose an election.

A cynic might suggest that the Republicans don't want Trump in the Executive Office.
