During my lifetime hospitals were actual non-profits and they kicked in a lot of charity, too. That's why hospitals used to have charity balls and auctions. They were fund-raisers offsetting the losses hospitals usually incurred due to charity writeoffs.
Hospital treatment of Wuhan Flu can be very nice, indeed.
Take, Remdesivir. Please!!
Remdesivir is a drug invented during the AIDS crisis (yes, Fauci) which turned out to create serious liver and kidney problems. So Fauci & Co. decided to bring it back for an encore to 'treat' the ChiCom Lung-Rot.
Under CMS (the old CMMS) rules, using Remdesivir gets the hospital an extra 20% pop on the cost of the drug.
But there's more!!
Besides that 20%, the hospital will ALSO get a bonus reimbursement to mitigate their 'loss' of $30K on any Medicare/Medicaid patient.
...the hospital gets reimbursed for 65% of the initial cost as well, which explains why they have been in such a rush to treat patients with remdesivir up front. How big a difference could this make per patient? How about close to $20,000?...
That might explain the "crowding" problem, too. Get them in, get them on Remdesivir, get the bonus bucks, and treat liver or kidney failure downtrack!!
