It's known that England and its EU allies really, really, really want to "punish" Russia. It's also known that Trump doesn't agree.
So Starmer is upping the ante a bit. (He's also playing "man" for the cameras.)
British armed forces boarded a Russian shadow fleet oil tanker in the English Channel in the early hours of Sunday morning, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said.
In an operation lasting six hours, Royal Marine Commandos and specially trained law enforcement officers from the National Crime Agency intercepted the vessel and, for the first time, boarded it, supported by the RAF.
The vessel, Smyrtos, will be held and monitored off the south coast of England as investigations continue, the MoD said in a statement....
This will irk Putin, but it's not serious enough for anything more than a Strongly-Worded Letter.
Keep your eyes open. If Starmer plays "man" again with another Russkie asset, one of more value, you'll know that he's hoping for a Russkie response which may trigger the NATO mutual-defense clause.
