Catholic Teaching on Israel/Zion

This is a succinct and comprehensive summary of Catholic teaching on the Zion/Israel controversy.  It is the same position that Carrie Prejean Boller.

Catholics are being positioned as the enemy, and our teachings are being strategically and publicly misrepresented as “antisemitism”.

1. Jesus Christ fulfilled the Old Testament temple (John 2:19-21: "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up" referring to His body).

2. With the fulfillment of the covenant, the Church is “God’s Israel” (Galatians 6)

 3. A physical Third Temple, if ever built, would not restore valid sacrifices (Christ's sacrifice on the Cross was once-for-all, Hebrews 9-10).

4. Attempts to rebuild it are seen as misguided and even antichristic in spirit (rejecting Christ's fulfillment and end of sacrifices), with some historical precedents like Emperor Julian the Apostate's failed effort viewed as a type of Antichrist activity. Prominent voices (such as Fr. Chad Ripperger) argue the temple will never be rebuilt, as Christ ended the old sacrificial system.

5. The temple is the place where they made the animal sacrifices. Those are no longer necessary.

6. Only God knows the day of Revelation. (Matthew 24:36)

7. Followers of Christ are the new chosen people, grafted into the line of Abraham. (Roman’s 11:17)

 8. No bloodline is ranked above another anymore. (Romans 3:22)

 9. All are welcome in the church, with repentance, baptism, and a belief that Jesus is Lord. Jews and Gentiles alike. (Roman’s 3:22)

10. Vatican documents that interpret and expand upon the Catechism's teachings clarify that the existence of the State of Israel should be viewed strictly through the lens of international law, and not a religious or theological perspective as Jesus Christ fulfilled the covenants. Terms met.

A number of politicians disagree.  That is their right, of course.

But it is NOT their right to screech "ANTI-SEMITE" at those who hold to this teaching.

But they do it, because their paymasters demand it.  And because they really don't have the intellectual firepower to work their way through the arguments--and if they did, they would lose their Scofield-Protty supporters, too.

Then they would have to find real jobs......
