We switched over to Spectrum (Charter) a while back and noticed that we were NOT forced to take ESPN, so we didn't.
Spectrum upped the ante on that.....
...Over Labor Day Weekend, Spectrum subscribers were blindsided when ESPN — as well as all other channels owned by Disney — were pulled from cable provider. As a result, more than 15 million customers were unable to enjoy a packed sports weekend that included the tennis U.S. Open and college football....
ESPN, like CNN, has been raking in hundreds of millions in cable fees by forcing cable customers to pay for them whether or not they actually use the channels. It's about damn time that ESPN has to earn its payment rather than just stealing it.
Spectrum also makes CNN an option (and Fox News); we suspect that they'll have good reason to stop paying CNN soon, too, as the "watcher" numbers shrink.
Good on Spectrum/Charter.
