Three far-left unions are making threats.
Leaders of several public and private sector unions are threatening to organize walkouts this fall for teachers, truck drivers and service workers in an effort to protest police killings.
“The status quo — of police killing Black people, of armed white nationalists killing demonstrators, of millions sick and increasingly desperate — is clearly unjust, and it cannot continue,” said a statement issued over the weekend by various arms of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, the Service Employees International Union, and National Education Association....
Note well: none of the trades (carpenters', electrician's, plumbers') nor the UAW nor Teamsters nor Mine Workers are on board with this. Even more pointed: none of those unions' leaders have spoken out in support.
Also note that AFSCME and NEA members are never at risk of losing their jobs over "job actions," no matter whether the action is job-related or not. They're perma-payroll (and perma-benefits) no matter what. In that regard, they are part of the Ruling Class.
This is another action--like the "peaceful" protests--which will only serve to increase the Trump margin at the polls. So we hope that the strikes occur.
By the way, lots of people know how to drive plow-trucks and teach children, so while you're out on strike, you should also learn to code.
