Somehow or other the "public servants" don't call this "double-dipping."
...the Senate on Saturday passed the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act.
The measure repeals two tax rules, the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset, that reduce benefits for those with public pensions from jobs that weren’t subject to Social Security taxes, such as teachers, first responders, and other government employees....
There's no other way to phrase it; they are pulling pensions (often VERY good ones) AND they will be pulling full-scale Social Security benefits. Under the current law, they would only get a reduced Social Security benefit due to their (often VERY good) pensions.
Let's not forget the 20-and-out for full pension written into labor contracts for many cops and firemen. And let's not forget the very juicy health-benefits they enjoy until they go onto Medicare.
Let's just count the votes!
