Tommy Barrett's 'disappearing Mayor' style of government is not holding up well.
Milwaukee's health commissioner has resigned to take a new job in Washington D.C. as the city and county continue to battle the coronavirus pandemic...(editorial phrase follows.)
"...I believe that I am limited due to factors that are out of my control," Kowalik said in the news release.
"This was evident at multiple points in time through our pandemic response, from access to testing, promotion of masks/face coverings, gathering limits, orders, messaging and outreach for communities of color, and various threats to Health Officers," she said....
Ms. Kowalik thought that her draconian solutions were best for the Little People. Then the Little People revolted and the Mayor failed to back her up--at least in her opinion.
Kowalik made it for almost two years. She replaced an interim manager (who turned down the big job) who followed a complete failure--another Barrett appointee.
The Barrett regime was teetering for the last couple of years and this is one more symptom of why flaccid Democrat soy-ish boyzzz don't make good crisis managers. (See: Wauwatosa and Portand)
He made a horrific series of errors with his Fire/Police Commission appointments, capped by the clumsiest and likely most-expensive firing of a Police Chief in recent memory. Now this.
My bet: Barrett's going to "retire" after this term.

Kowalik ... another .gov parasite stealing a paycheck for doing AND accomplishing absolutely nothing.
She was a failure.
IS a failure.
Obviously.
They all are.
Big PhDs and educational pedigrees do not a knowledgeable employe make. Hell, just look at some of the "over-pedigreed" music Directors in Catholic Churches. *wink* *wink*
Now she's bugging out to a WashDC "think tank". Uh huh. Yah ...
As far as anyone could ever tell, she was more into her self-perceived "faux" "model" "looks" and TV appearances than actually knowing what the hell she was doing. Incompetence extraordinaire.
Now going to a "think tank".
Makes one wonder what the REAL requisite IQs are in those "think tanks".
Milwaukee AND Wisconsin government(s) are just real pieces of work, aren't they?!
... and that includes teachers and law enforcement and firefighters, etc.
... and you're footing the bill ... all of it.
Wonder what kind of pension Kowalik has for less than two years of incompetency.
Inquiring taxpaying minds wanna know.
