New licensing rules in Minnesota that require teachers to “affirm” students’ transgender identities will effectively ban religious Christians, Muslims, and Jews from teaching in public schools. MN state-certified teachers will be required to “foster an environment that ensures student identities such as … gender identity …are…affirmed.” (1) Other states are also looking for ways to implement these unconstitutional licensing rules.
“…teachers are going to be faced with hiding their beliefs or getting denied (a state teaching license),” said Doug Seaton of MN Upper Midwest Law Center. “Christians, Muslims, and Jews need not apply for MN teaching jobs.”...
...College teacher preparation programs will also have to comply with these new requirements. This sets up another constitutional conflict by requiring religious institutions to endorse behaviors and ideologies that conflict with their beliefs. When put into effect, these new rules will likely meet court challenges....

You might almost think that the "jobs" number put out by Bureau of Labor Statistics is......ahhh.......politically managed!

The latest release shows that 517,000 jobs were gained in the labor market, despite every other economic indicator showing we are in an economy of contraction. The question becomes, why the disconnect?...
The answer? BLS uses two surveys. One is a survey of businesses which includes a computer model of small-business 'births and deaths.' The other is a telephone survey which speaks to real people. Does that account for the entire difference? Or is someone's elbow leaning on the scale?
The real-people survey shows growth in part-time jobs--which was noted by Market Ticker a while back. But even more significant is the difference between the 'living person' survey and the modeled one:

What Pocan (Slime-WI) should have done? Legislate a Social Security tax increase of about 1 percent (half employer, half employee) and raise the upper limit of SS-taxable income to $250K. That would resolve the Social Security problem in a snap. (Calculations done by Ticker.)
Medicare is a different problem; the Democrats (and girly-boy Republicans) have added benefits galore while refusing to add tax revenue to offset them; thus, Medicare is now spending SIX TIMES what it takes in from the Medicare tax.
Pocan doesn't have a solution that makes him a savior, of course. That would require fortitude, a virtue sorely lacking in his resume.
