St Paul, Lombardi, and Today

Those of you who know a bit about Vince Lombardi know that he often quoted St. Paul to his players--the section about "fighting the good fight" (etc.)

Heh.

Many Catholics around the world heard that very same Epistle today--if they attended an Extraordinary Form Mass (Old Rite).

Co-incidence? Lombardi's favorite player-motivating passage on the day of the NFC Championship game on St. Vincent's home field?

I don't think so.

I don't know if the Catholic Church has the same color scheme as us Lutherans ( or is that the other way around? ), but it was ( snow? ) white last week, for Christ's Baptism, and green this week for Epiphany. Sure didn't help, but I smiled when the our pastor was in green yesterday ( in Chicago ! ).

You copycat Lut'rans...

We RC's do 'white' for Epiphany (which was January 6th--what are you guys DOING there?) and green for "time after Epiphany" until Lent begins and we go all purple.

And, by the way, it didn't work, anyway...
